Although The Black Series 6” line is always ahead of The Vintage Collection, it appears as if Hasbro is attempting to keep the playing fields as level as possible when it comes to The Mandalorian. Zealous 3.75” super-articulated fans believe Hasbro is failing them. Still, if you compare The Mandalorian characters in the two popular scales, you’ll see that the score is pretty close. Greef Karga entered The Black Series 6” line only a few months before The Vintage Collection version, and we’re inclined to believe that Hasbro did a better job at the smaller-scaled version, but that’s only an opinion. Greef Karga is now a significant player in the Disney+ The Mandalorian series. Although initially on good terms with Din Djarin, things go a little south, and The Mandalorian chooses a path of his own. Unhappy with the bounty hunter’s decision to keep Grogu, Greef Karga soon turns on his one-time partner, and turmoil and conflict ensure. Some other events transpired, and Greef Karga again offered Din Djarin in the Guild, but the bounty hunter refused. And eventually, the two parties separate and forge their two distinct paths in the Star Wars universe.

The Vintage Collection Greef Karga action figure turned out well, but the outfit is entirely different than the one chosen for The Black Series 6” version. Hasbro opted to go with a dressier set of threads than what they chose for the 6” figure. And, in all honesty, we feel that the 3.75” version is a better figure. The outfit is layered and comes with an impressive 30 points of articulation. Some of the joints, especially the hips, are a bit difficult to articulate. You’ll be frustrated attempting to pose the figure in action-oriented poses because it’s a difficult task. Also, you’ll discover that the figure doesn’t look all that great in action-oriented poses. You’ll probably prefer to pose the figure statically or at attention. Hasbro designed the outer robe as a separate accessory. It’s easily removable, and underneath is another iteration of Greef Karga. It almost feels as if you’re getting two action figures in one here. The action figure’s design is excellent, as you’d expect, and the articulation points hold their positions ell. There isn’t any slipping of poses, for example. Structurally, this is an excellent action figure.

Greef Karga’s paint operation is also outstanding. Our sample has an artifact on its right eyebrow, but we believe it is an outlier, and most won’t look like this. The portrait’s likeness of Carl Weathers is decent, but we don’t think it looks as good as the 6” figure’s head sculpt. It seems as if the tooling is a faithful recreation of the on-screen actor, but it’s the paint operations that don’t fully meet our expectations. The rest of the deco on the action figure is good as well. You’ll find mostly black and red coloring throughout the figure, but other colors accent it. Greef Karga comes with a blaster pistol. It fits into the figure’s right hand beautifully, and the figure looks impressive wielding it. Hasbro tooled a functioning holster onto the right side of the figure’s side, and it stays in place relatively easily when not in use. The packaging of The Vintage Collection Greef Karga is excellent. Hasbro is doing the Lord’s work regarding the card art they produce for The Mandalorian. Conversely, Hasbro is failing collectors with the Original Trilogy card art. But, Greef Karga shines. Hopefully, Hasbro will continue to create more characters from The Mandalorian.
