The Bad Batch, technically known as Clone Force 99, is the result of Kaminoan experiments to create a specialist unit of clone commandos. Hunter, their leader, is a strong and stoic soldier with extraordinary keen senses that give him an edge when tracking down his targets.

Is Hunter the Star Wars equivalent to Rambo? He sure looks like an animated version of the cinematic character. “Hunter” was the nickname of the clone commando sergeant. He served as the commanding officer of Clone Force 99 in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He’s officially the leader of The Bad Batch. And due to the blending of his genes, he had heightened senses. Hasbro added Hunter into the fourth wave of The Black Series [Phase IV] lineup, a collection of figures primarily based on other Star Wars Entertainment stories and not part of the episodic films. Hasbro put together a wonderful assortment of characters from The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian. They gave all of the films a short break, and the group of figures that make up this assortment is all dark and interesting. Hunter may be the most interesting of the group. As the leader of The Bad Batch, Hunter has some clout. We’re happy to see that Hasbro entered the character into The Black Series [Phase IV] 6” line. But since they’re always playing catch-up, we wonder if they’ll ever get to completing a single scene of characters at all.

The Clone Wars concluded, and now a story arc about The Bad Batch becomes a Disney+ series. Hunter is part of the Grand Army of the Republic during The Clone Wars and the official leader of Clone Force 99. The action figure comes with some exciting features. Hasbro tooled a removable knife with a molded holster to the figure’s lower left arm. They also added unique torso armor and an all-new portrait, and a removable helmet. You’d first think that Crosshair and Hunter share identical parts, and while they share some of the same toolings, they possess a lot of newness between them as well. The upper left arm, the right arm, and the legs are the same parts, but everything else is all-new and gives Hunter quite a bit of personality. Hunter doesn’t come with any large sniper rifle like the figure’s case mates, but you did get a heavy blaster rifle and a single DC-17 blaster pistol to outfit the character’s weaponry. The backpack is removable, but again, there aren’t any places to store the weapon when not in use. And unfortunately, Hunter doesn’t come with a functioning holster either.

The paint operations on Hunter are astounding. Hasbro doesn’t have any issues decorating their action figures. Although mostly dark gray because of the plastic color Hasbro used to cast the figure, Hunter comes with dark red, gray, and black accents to help define some of the more finer-detailed aspects of this action figure. Hasbro went above and beyond to give Hunter a battle-scarred appearance. They did this by adding scoring throughout the armored pieces, leaving scratches behind and other signs of battle damage to remind us that this action figure has seen some danger a couple of times. Although primarily all-new, Hasbro articulated the joints very similarly to the Clone Trooper (Kamino) (TCW01) figure released in this lineup’s first wave. The joints move in a smooth motion, and Hasbro replaced the annoying double hinge-jointed points of articulation with premium ball-jointed movement instead. Once again, we’re taken with this figure’s likeness and personality. Hunter is quite reminiscent of Rambo. Perhaps that’s the point with this figure. From the headband to the face paint, you can’t help but think of Sylvester Stallone.
