The outfits of the main characters in Star Wars: The Bad Batch changed in later episodes. They become more colorful and flashy and bring additional personality to the characters. Walmart released a bunch of these characters as exclusives in 2021. Now, they’re redoing the repaint in their 2023 exclusive program. This time, Echo (Mercenary Gear) comes with one less accessory. It doesn’t come with the interchangeable claw. But Hasbro included all the other accessories here in good faith. And they work equally well on both versions of this action figure. The Bad Batch, also known as Clone Force 99, goes on various adventures, so it makes sense why they’d have periodic outfit changes. Echo (Mercenary Gear) comes loaded with articulation. Hasbro sets the bar high in adding joints to their action figures. And they’re finding new and innovative ways to add them into the tooling of action figures where they appear hidden. This approach is also made here for Echo (Mercenary Gear). The buttery-smooth movement of the knee joints is stellar, and you don’t notice any joints until you begin to articulate the points. Echo is once again ghost-like, much more like an action figure than how the character appeared in The Bad Batch series. The eerie skin color is gray, and the deadness of the expression is a work of art, and the homage paid to Lobot in this character is nothing short of brilliant. Echo (Mercenary Gear) comes with one of the most distinct helmets in The Black Series line, this time repainted for this version. It almost wraps around the figure’s head instead of fitting like a bucket. It’s also close-fitting and looks to scale with the figure’s portrait. Echo (Mercenary Gear) also comes with a solid number of accessories. Hasbro also included a removable backpack. It’s highly detailed and has two antennae sticking out of the top. It has a slightly loose fit but stays in place for posing and whatever else you need it to do. Lastly, Hasbro included a small blaster pistol. The figure has one holster to store when not in use, too. Overall, Echo (Mercenary Gear) is a fantastic release. It’s a lovely addition to the line.
Status: Echo (Mercenary Gear) is a repaint of 2021's TBS [P4] Echo (TBB11) figure.
