Just like they were when you were a kid, only BIGGER! Gentle Giant is proud to debut their new line of vintage Star Wars Action figure reproductions with the release of this classic Star Wars Han Solo.

Digitally scanned from mint 3 ¾" Kenner originals and reproduced to a substantial 12" tall. Nothing has been overlooked. Injection molded and made of durable plastics, this jumbo figure includes a faithfully reproduced blaster and is fully articulated! That's not all, this classic Kenner creation comes packaged on a 1978, Star Wars inspired blister card with a plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition convention exclusive!

Collectors in general wish that Star Wars licensees catered to their every whim. And in a perfect world that would be sublime. But usually we have to be patient and see what companies like Sideshow Collectibles and Gentle Giant Ltd.. decide to release and make public from their release schedules and calendars. Gentle Giant Ltd.. is inordinately successful at making collectors exceptionally happy with their products in general. They stick to the main characters and the background favorites that fans adore while still peppering in some lesser known characters into the mix as well. While their Mini Bust line has its share of ups and downs, the Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures line is a roaring success. For them to even come up with a 12” scaled version of the original Kenner figures is extraordinary. Even the most passive Star Wars collector knows the power of the vintage figures released between 1978 and 1985. Gentle Giant Ltd.. banked on this intense adoration to create a 12” scaled version of the figures especially for the adult collectors who grew up during the vintage era. And it seems collectors of this line cannot get enough of it.

One character synonymous with the words Kenner and vintage is the vinyl caped Jawa. And now Gentle Giant Ltd.. carries it forward for their 12” line. Kenner initially treated the Jawa in the same way that they did both Darth Vader and Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi. Aesthetically it lacked very much (as did both Darth Vader and Ben (Obi-Wan Kenobi) quite honestly) and the toy makers at Kenner quickly revised the Jawa to include a soft-goods cloak instead. This was a very big deal in 1978 and quite frankly it’s one of the best looking classic Star Wars figures from the entire vintage era. It’s held up wonderfully over the years and stands as one of the finest Star Wars products released by Kenner, especially one of the original 12 action figures. Because of the quick revision, the vinyl caped Jawa has commanded a hefty premium for years. Gentle Giant Ltd.. saw fit to capitalize on this rarity and release a 12” scaled version of the vinyl caped Jawa proudly in their Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures line as an exclusive. Ultimately released as a 2011 San Diego Comic Con exclusive, it sold out very quickly and its large sized version is already commanding a premium on the aftermarket. Like father like son, huh?

The vinyl caped Jawa is complete with peg holes in the feet and a real replica vinyl cape. The paint job has been perfectly applied to exactly match the colors of the vintage figure. The Jawa also comes with his unique Jawa blaster and it fits (to the best of our memory) in the exact same fashion as the 3.75” scaled figure. Even the unevenness of the leg length has been replicated and the figure will lean with you keep the legs exactly together. While this is a testament to the authenticity of the vintage figure, we wish Gentle Giant Ltd.. would have made some “corrections” to fix things that were overlooked in the vintage line. Some of us disagree with this sentiment and say let things like this be, but we can’t help but wish that these awesome large scaled vintage figures didn’t lean to one side when posed upright. Thankfully, if you play around with the legs, you can attain poses without the figure looking like it’s going to fall over. The Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures line is amazing and it’s the perfect line for those that have everything classically vintage already. And we will remain interested to see how far this line progresses.
