Found! TLC WAL*MART Exclusive Comic Packs!!!

Posted by Paul | February 21, 2009 at 01:57 PM ET

The very, very exciting WAL*MART exclusive Comic Packs have been found!  Although these pay direct tribute to the Expanded Universe, fans of the original films will feel a warm and fuzzy sensation inside after careful perusal of these packs!  These are without doubt an indirect nod to the Original Trilogy, and you would be foolish to pass on these.  Every figure is an EU take on a classic character!  The Amanin figure leaves nothing left to be desired; we now have our definitive Amanaman!  Oh, and for you Hasbro 12" collectors out there, we finally got our 3.75" scale Keeoulkeech, you know, that "other" Ewok that was packed with the 12" Logray!  Click through and enjoy the photos and be sure to get yours soon!

These three WAL*MART exclusive Comic Packs appear to be packed evenly in the case assortments, so it doesn't look like and one will be a shortpacked set.

Janek Sunber & Amanin:
Janek Sunber is a retool of the commonly used Imperial officer body, the exact mold is uncertain at the moment.  The wash used on this figure looks excellent.  He is one of the most authentic dirty characters our Star Wars collections have seen!  Amanin is an all-new sculpt, has a phenomenal paint job and he towers over Janek Sunber very alarmingly!  You will not be sorry with this figure.  This one is definitely the keeper of the three!

Machook, Keoulkeech & Kettch:
Original Trilogy fans love Ewoks, even if those Ewoks are from the expanded universe!  Despite some bright color issues (which it to be authentic to the comics), this set is really nice, and it is great to get three figures instead of the standard two!  Long time collectors will recognize Keoulkeech, he was first incarnated as Logray's partner in the Star Wars (2002-2004) 12" figure line. So, this is the first time he has been realized in 3.75" scale!  Awesome!

Ibtisam & Nrin Vakil:
Although you may not be able to pronounce their names with great ease, these two X-wing pilots are completely reminiscent of the vintage Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot) with Admiral Ackbar and Squid Head portraits. (Or new additions to the Evolutions Rebel pilots.) The Quarrens and Mon Calamari certainly have been a focus for Hasbro in the last few years, and they are certainly welcome additions to our collection.  Just recently seen in Wave 2 of TLC, these retooled figures borrow parts from others, but they look like brand new figures, thanks to Hasbro's excellent skill of recycling and retooling parts!  No wonder the X-wing Fighter keeps seeing re-release after re-release; we keep getting more and more pilots to navigate them!

Available now, don't expect these Comic Packs to hang around for long.  The last couple of WAL*MART exclusive packs were quite lackluster, you know, repaints with not much new, and not so great character choice.  This is certainly not the case here as these packs are anything but boring!  Let us know of you finds!
