JTA reader Scot G. writes in to let us know that the Walmart exclusive smart R2-D2 is on clearance for $30 IN stores. Brickseek shows every store in his area has it for that price. It's obviously not worth $100, but definitely a cool piece at $30.

One Reason Why We Stay Off Of Social Media

Posted by Paul | May 27, 2017 at 05:51 AM ET |

Subtweeting while utilizing sentence fragments and being completely unaware of homophones is a great deal more annoying and unprofessional than holding opinions that are different than your own. Oh, and being friendly and conversational to one's face while stabbing the back on Twitter is annoying and unprofessional too.

Posted by Paul | May 22, 2017 at 08:03 AM ET |

Victoria's Cantina has set a precedent: a podcast interview with the elusive and unforgettable Angela Staines, the woman who played a "Tonnika Sister." Find out why she may or may not be Brea Tonnika. Find out why she may or may not be Senni Tonnika. Or find out why she may not be either. Also, discover the truth behind why we don't have a Hasbro Star Wars action figure of her yet. It's one of the greatest interviews in fandom if you ask us. The YouTube video version can be found HERE too.

Reminder: Important Announcement 6:30 PM ET TODAY

Posted by Paul | April 15, 2017 at 07:02 AM ET |

This is a reminder to be here at 6:30 PM ET tonight for an exciting announcement. There are lots of panels today and it is possible that some details will come out before 6:30 PM (against an embargo of course). However, we have some additional info on it that you probably won't find anywhere else. It goes live 6:30 PM ET on the dot.

Longtime JTA reader and very good friend Joshua Makison stopped by our patch and trading card giveaway today and presented me with the most incredible gift I have probably ever received. He customized 2015's TBS [P2] Mosep Bineed to be the character seen way in the background of Return Of The Jedi. I couldn't be more impressed with what he did with that action figure. Thanks Josh. It was amazing meting your face to face. Thank you for overwhelming me with this precious gift, Josh!! By the way, Josh is normal-sized and I am the giant. :) Just think what Hasbro could do with all of their existing tooling. They too could make amazing figures like this for all of us.

Billy Dee Williams Turns 80 Years Old Today!

Posted by Paul | April 06, 2017 at 03:33 PM ET |

Happy 80th birthday to the one and only Billy Dee Williams!

Another retailer that specializes in Star Wars action figures has sustained a setback. GameStop, according to Fortune.com, will be closing 150 stores throughout 2017. It seems that R5-D4 may not be affected in the least. If you remember our exclusive insider report, it's believed to arrive April 21st (there are other details in the report too). The possibility does exist that this exclusive release may just come and go before the stores start closing, unless GameStop decides to stop providing the failing stores with new products. How insane is this? They were one of the only retailers to get the TBS6 Darth Revan wave too; it seemed like a great source for the line. It's not a great climate for retailers in general, and it's disappointing to see something else work against the Star Wars line.

Is it fake news or fake discounts? Well, according to Consumer Watchdog it's supposedly the latter. Amazon is reportedly in some hot water with providing its consumers with "fake" discounts. Fox 31 has the full story.

There Is Another.... 40th Anniversary In 2017

Posted by Paul | February 14, 2017 at 10:56 AM ET |

There is another outer space related big 40th anniversary to celebrate in 2017. 40 years ago on February 14, 1977, the B-52s played their very first concert at a friend's house in Athens GA. They proved so popular that they played their entire set list again as an encore. After hearing Rock Lobster in 1979, John Lennon (yes, that John Lennon) was inspired to go back into the studio and record and remained a fan until his tragic death. Best known for the late 80s/early 90s hits Love Shack and Roam, the B-52s encouraged individuality and to bravely let your freak flag fly. They continue to maintain a hybrid of dedicated fans four decades after their inception. Thank you for the happiness, joy and music you brought to Earth from that UFO!

UPDATE 1: TMZ is reporting she sustained a MASSIVE heart attack.

UPDATE 2: Carrie's brother, Todd Fisher, has told the Associated Press that she was "out of emergency" and stabilized at a Los Angeles hospital.

UPDATE 3: Contrary to earlier reports, Todd Fisher has now told AP and several other press outlets that Fisher’s condition is currently uncertain, and that the actress is in Intensive Care. “She’s in the ICU and everybody’s praying for her,” Todd Fisher told Variety during a phone interview. “There’s nothing new from the doctors. There’s nothing new at all. … There’s no good news or bad news.”

UPDATE 4: On Christmas Day, Carrie Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds spoke out after her daughter suffered a heart attack. "Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change, we will share it."
