Kiwanis Force Event – Neuville-en-Ferrain, France
by Joris De Smet
March 28-29, 2009

Kiwanis Force Event Homepage

The KIWANIS Force Event is a first time sci-fi convention taking place in the adorable village Neuville-en-Ferrain, on the French side of the border between France and Belgium.

The place to be is Salle Rocheville, Rue du Vertuquet 59960.

Charity organization “KIWANIS” and non-profit “Star Force Events” joined forces and spouted this out-of-this-world first ever in France convention related to popular science-fiction movies.

This will be a very special weekend indeed! Come and visit the convention where numerous sci-fi clubs will present their trade and merchandise.
Thanks to “Star Force Events”, you’ll also be able to meet and greet with an impressive cast of Star Wars guest stars: the KIWANIS Force Event will host a never-seen before line-up of Imperial Navy Officers from the Classic Star Wars movies!

The actors will sell their autographs for the charity organisation Fondation Pierre Houriez.

Barrie Holland as Imperial Lieutenant Renz

His role in Star Wars went unaccredited and the Imperial Officer he portrayed would get his name only much later, but his only line in Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, “You Rebel Scum!”, became an incredibly popular catchphrase among Star Wars fans.
Barrie’s performing career includes roles in Bloodline and Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark

Robert Watts as Imperial Lieutenant Watts

Robert Watts may have made a cameo as Lieutenant Watts in Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, but that is hardly his only accomplishment. Robert is connected with Star Wars and Indiana Jones as a Producer first and foremost. He will bring original props from the blockbuster movies to the convention, as if his presence alone wasn’t already enough!

Jeremy Bulloch as Imperial Lieutenant Sheckil and Boba Fett

Jeremy Bulloch is not an unknown face for the myriad of Star Wars fans, even if he donned a helmet for his most known performance: the Bounty Hunter Boba Fett. Less known is that Jeremy has also given a face to the cowardly Imperial Lieutenant Sheckil, who uses Princess Leia as a human shield in the confrontation between the Imperial Troops and Luke Skywalker on Bespin.

Michael Culver as Imperial Captain Needa

Michael Culver may then have a very short-lived career as Captain Needa in Star Wars Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, the same cannot be said again of his TV and movie career! From ‘the Avengers’ over ‘Zorro’ to ‘the Ten Commandments’, Michael really has done it all!

Kenneth Colley as Imperial Admiral Piett

We get introduced to Kenneth in Star Wars Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back when he picks up the role of Captain Piett, the only Imperial Officer who seems cunning and intelligent enough to survive Lord Vader’s company. We meet him again as Admiral Piett in Star Wars Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi, so even the Dark Lord must have been impressed! Too bad that a fight with the furry Ewoks –of all adversaries- would be his undoing …

Richard LeParmentier as Imperial Admiral Motti

Versatile is the word for this actor, who portrayed Admiral Motti in Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope. Next to being force-choked Richard has also put in his best for movies such as ‘Who framed Roger Rabbit?’, ‘Superman II’, James Bond’s ‘Octopussy’ and Stardust.

The convention is scheduled to take place in the weekend of 28 and 29 March 2009.

All of this and much more can be found equally on the KIWANIS Force Event web site.
