Basic Line | UCS Millennium Falcon | 2007 Promos | LEGO Party
It is always fun to hang out with LEGO on Toy Fair Saturday night and this year was no exception, especially since it revolved around Star Wars! The 501st was present with a Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, a fantastic Sith Anakin and...get this...the coolest C-3PO you have ever seen after Anthony Daniels! He even had an authentic sounding voice! First...let's get back to the LEGO!
Basic Line
On hand were all the 2007 vehicles that have been announced and a few that we got to see for the first time...and even one that was unveiled before our very eyes! On hand was the Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring (#7761) that will feature flick fire action, an Obi-Wan mini-fig and the first ever Kit Fisto mini-fig! It will retail for $49.99 and hit the shelves sometime in August. The MMT (#7662) was also on display. This mega machine of the Trade Federation comes with 16 battle droids, 2 red security droids, 2 blue pilot droids and a destroyer droid! You'll be able to score this $100 beauty in August as well.
Also on the table along with the AT-ST, Grievous' Starfighter, Imperial Landing Craft and other sets you already put into your collection in the last 4 weeks was the Naboo N-1 Starfighter with Vulture Droids ($29.99) that sports a R2-D2, young Anakin and Naboo Pilot mini-figs.
UCS Millennium Falcon
The big surprise of the night was the revealing of the largest LEGO set ever created...in any line. LEGO decided to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Saga with the Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon! The set contains nearly 5,200 pieces, measures over 33 inches long, 22 inches wide and 8 inches tall. And...get this...it weighs in at over 6.5 kilograms...that is just over 14 pounds! The Falcon comes with 5 mini-figs...Princess Leia, Obi-wan Kenobi, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker, features a removable cockpit (which fits 4 mini-figs by the way), working gun turrets and a removable panel over the top turret that reveals your favorite character manning the guns. Also...if you grab the vehicle abound the gunner seat (and remember, this weighs 14+ pounds) you can pick it up! This is the most sturdy LEGO built to date and it is so strong you may even dare to hang it from the ceiling! Head on over to the LEGO Store to pre-order one today...it retails for a mere $499.99.
2007 Promos
LEGO has some cool promotions happening this year too! Starting this June you could be one of the 10,000 lucky winners to score a shiny metallic gold C-3PO in the building set they buy. Now...if shiny plastic is not your thing...OK, it is, but you want a bit more when it comes to a shiny gold figure, LEGO has you covered! They will also be running a contest where you could win one of 5 custom-designed 14-carat solid gold C-3PO mini-figures! Keep an eye on http://www.lego.com/starwars to find out how to win! At the end of the night LEGO had a drawing to give away the very first of the plastic gold figures. Alas, team JTA was not the winner...
Fans will also have a chance to be their own LEGO Star Wars movie directors this summer and have a chance to win fame and the "Ultimate LEGO Star Wars prize pack". The 3-minute films will be judged in 10 and under, 11-16 and 17+ categories. Start writing your scripts...it will be a fun time for all!
LEGO Party
Finally, LEGO put on a fun, Star Wars themed party full of costumed 501st members doing what they do best...just hanging around. While Vader got bored and started playing with the LEGO pieces, a pushy stormtrooper gave me a hard time for no apparent reason...
