Two new battle packs are now listed at Walmart.com. They are currently listed as out of stock but may go live when Collector Con starts this morning. They were briefly listed in stock early this morning.

Today is January 30, 2022, and that means it’s been ten years since Hasbro released the Star Wars [The Phantom Menace 3D] line. Where does the time go? Although revered as a controversial lineup of a motley crew of products, it contained some of the best items we ever received from Hasbro. Yes, and it contained some of the worst products as well. Many blame Lucasfilm for the deluge of wave 1 products in this line that flooded stores everywhere. It’s believed they marketed this event as a new film, and stores bought up the products like there was no tomorrow. It would explain such an overage of products on the street date. Collectors would find “TPM 3D” products nearly everywhere for many years.

In the confusion of perplexing re-releases, overcharged 5POA action figures, and a deluge of products that rotted on shelves for years afterward, it’s easy to forget that the line did bring collectors some amazing newness and goodness. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and recapture the good, the bad, and the ugly that this line brought to the Star Wars collecting community.

We were floored by the announcement of the Stormtrooper build-up pack yesterday. Hasbro let us know that they plan to continue with releases in that format, which begs the obvious question… What battle packs do you want to see next? The stormtrooper set is a great place to start, but this new option provides so many opportunities that we’d be remiss if we didn’t talk about some of those possibilities.

Getting through “Barge Week” was arduous, but it was well worth it. Now that we got that out of the way, we wanted to redirect your attention to a set Hasbro produced over a decade ago that is essential to help complement your Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna). During 2008’s The Legacy Collection run, Hasbro released the Battle At The Sarlacc Pit Battle Packs set. It gave us our first-ever 3.75″ version of the Sarlacc Pit. It also included a repainted Skiff and five pack-in figures with the worst paint jobs we’ve ever seen. We’ve revisited the review with a massive 120-image gallery, revised text in the review and an Editor’s Note which explains that we do have a Sail Barge now. Over the next week, we’re going to recap the outrageously wonderful The Clone Wars lines from Hasbro. It ran for an incredible five years. It started humbly, then gained momentum and reached its peak by its third year. It then went out like a lamb its last two years, sadly. It went from a mainline to a sub-line until it finally was absorbed into the general basic figure line. But now THE CLONE WARS television show is back (some of the most fabulous news out of Disney Star Wars to date)! We hope that these posts can inspire Hasbro to get the creative juices flowing again. We want to see them get out some of their greatest hits from years’ past in addition to tooling new characters they never got to yet (even the canceled ones). Based on the Rebels line, it appears that Hasbro is more than likely to go with an “animated” approach to this revived Star Wars Entertainment. It would complement the previous lines wonderfully too, but it’s also likely that articulation will take a back seat and not be a focal point. Hasbro will see this as a kids’ line when the new episodes air. Anyway, click through to check out The Clone Wars [Blue] line that ran from 2008 through 2009.
