The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ collectors are getting a taste of what happens to a long-running Star Wars line. And they better get used to more! Hasbro has to meet budgets, and in order to meet budgets, reusing existing tooling is a requirement. The “Attack Of The Clones” wave is essentially the first “repack, refreshed, and repaint” wave for the 6″ line. but 3.75″ collectors are used to them. Plo Koon isn’t perfect, but it’s an admirable effort. Will you add one to your collection? (more….)
Hello once again, toy runners! It’s been a fantastic week in Star Wars. I got the newest wave of The Vintage Collection figures, and they are real winners! When we posted our review of Clone Commander Wolffe, I shared a photo of Thorn and Rex that I customized with a VC45 clone body instead of the swivel hip body Hasbro used for the commanders. I did the same thing with Wolffe last night, and by popular request, you’ll find a small tutorial on doing it yourself if you click here.
Tonight’s Visual Guide update takes a look a The Black Series 6-Inch Battle Droid (Geonosis) (108). Click below for our full Visual Guide page. You can also read our full review of this figure right here.
The Black Series [Phase III] Battle Droid (Geonosis) figure turned out beautifully. How many are you buying for your Battle of Geonosis display? (more….)
Thank you for reading Research Droids Reviews: Season 12!
There have been a significant number of changes made to the re-released The Vintage Collection See-Threepio (C-3PO) (VC06) figure. We took the time to break it all down for you by producing an all-new 68-image gallery complete with comparison shots, dioramas, and a breakdown of what separates the 2010 version from the 2020 new release. (Hasbro has released this figure every five years since 2010!) You can probably find See-Threepio (C-3PO) (VC06) at your local TARGET and WALMART stores now. If not, orders should begin shipping from the “Fan Channel” shortly. As usual, there’s more difference here than you may believe, including a possible retooling that benefits the aesthetics of the head sculpt! Be sure to acclimate yourself to the many changes!
As you can probably gather by the title of this week’s TRT, I got some clones this week! Captains, ARC troopers, Commanders, Purge troopers, oh my! Check out a few photos by clicking here, and then share some photos of your clone trooper collection in the comments below!

Clone Commander Obi-Wan Kenobi is a relatively excellent action figure that has some aesthetics and accuracy issues, but you probably won’t care. The figure has one of the greatest head sculpts we’ve seen in the 6″ line. But there’s more. Find out in our Research Droids Reviews today! The Toys R Us exclusive The Saga Collection Republic Gunship, based on Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars micro-series, is the greatest vehicle Hasbro has ever released.
