We have a sneak peek for you tonight of the first wave of Star Wars: Resistance figures. As I opened up, inspected, played with and photographed these figures, I couldn’t help but wonder if The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were made of up of realistic versions of these animated characters if it the films wouldn’t be so heavily panned by the longtime facet of collectors and collectors would be more engaged with Hasbro. The Star Wars [Resistance] Hasbro line has the potential to feel like the first couple of waves of the original vintage Kenner line. From the bright colors to the excellent sculpts, Hasbro has employed their fair share of creativity skills to design a line that SHOULD appeal to collectors of all ages. There is a HEALTHY balance of male, female and trooper characters, and droids and creatures soon will follow.
Sadly, I don’t think this line will take off or be successful which I sincerely feel is a shame. I have yet to watch any episodes myself, but I don’t believe the collecting audience Hasbro has for Disney-era Star Wars Entertainment will support this line the way it needs. The show looks good to me, but like so may other longtime Star Wars fans, it’s hard to stay engaged with so much turmoil in the community and hobby. Hopefully, I am wrong about this. Anyway, check out the first wave of figures. Reviews for this line begin in the New Year. Special thanks to friend Russ T. for securing these figures for me so that I can feature them here for you.
Holy cow. The Vintage Collection First Order Stormtrooper is now a $6 Add-on item on Amazon. Get ’em while they’re cheap! It will be a cold day on Mustafar before that upcoming Imperial Stormtrooper follows suit! Special thanks to JTA reader Also S. for the alert!
If you’re interested, The Vintage Collection First Order Stormtrooper is $8.99 with Prime on Amazon. Interestingly, this is the only figure piling up at my local TARGET stores. Special thanks to vikingrobot for the tip!
We continue with the repacked portion of The Vintage Collection wave 17 with the First Order Stormtrooper (VC118). Click below for a look at our Visual Guide entry. Please be sure to visit our full review to see if/how much this differs from the The Black Series counterpart.

The Vintage Collection is BACK baby, and we have a sneak peek of wave 17 for you. That’s right. We said wave 17. Hasbro left this poor collection in the dust with wave 16 in September 2012. After five and a half brutally grueling and long years, collectors can once again have something to call their own. Review pages and some images are rough, but check out Rebel Soldier (Hoth), Supreme Leader Snoke, Rey (Jakku), Kylo Ren and the First Order Stormtrooper. Jyn Erso is coming soon.
Yikes. Our stomachs sank a like a brick after learning and seeing this news. Could Bubblegate be making a return along with The Vintage Collection? We have obtained an exclusive image of the TVC First Order Stormtrooper that has CLEAR EVIDENCE of the bubble separating from the card. There is even tape keeping the bubble onto the card in case the bubble frees itself completely. Hasbro, please deal with this issue as soon as possible! Hopefully, they’re already aware and have already taken measures to resolve future production.
We are adding the last of the S.H. Figuarts First Order Stormtroopers to our Visual Guides. Click below to check out the original release from The Force Awakens. You can also look back at our review of this figure right here.
Found! The Black Series [Phase III] wave 15 figures have been found at Toys R Us in Ft. Wayne Indiana! We exclusively revealed what figures would make up part of this case assortment last year. Sadly, as expected, the First Order Stormtrooper is exactly the same as the 2015 figure. (Hasbro, you really couldn’t update the helmet?) And even worse, Captain Phasma has not been given her staff and still has the same bulky body. Oh well. Special thanks to JTA reader Ian D. for the alert!
