What the HasLab The Black Series 6-inch Rancor needs is an “out of the box” vision like my friend Russ Turk has. A former designer for Toys R Us, Russ mocked up what he would want to see included in the Rancor HasLab campaign. Hasbro is missing the boat by not including world-building with this project. Yes, it’s much harder to world-build in the 6-inch scale, but it’s possible with a clever imagination. Cardboard backdrops and bones are insults.

Hasbro is doing everything to secure a successful campaign for the HasLab The Black Series 6-inch Rancor. But is the effort futile? With lackluster stretch goals and outrageous backer landmarks before you’re entitled to them, this HasLab is souring the customer base. It’s evident Hasbro is in damage-control and panic mode. (more….)
It seems as if Hasbro may become the Rancor’s next meal.

Gee. Do you think the Hasbro Star Wars team is starting to panic? As confirmed backers back out of backing the Rancor (numbers are going down instead of up), they’ve just announced that on Friday they will show off a painted prototype of the Rancor and reveal the last two stretch goals tiers in the hope to boost the number of supporters. Don’t expect Oola. But expect a repacked/retooled Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight), probably in The Power Of The Force packaging too, and another lackluster reveal. Or will they surprise us?

JTA has just received intel of the next two Tiers: Tier 3 for 15,500 backers, and Tier 4 for 20,000 backers. Click the image below for the reveal! These next two tiers are bound to reduce the number of current backers further to a much lower number, as evidenced by what Tier 2 did to the backer count today!

*drumroll please* For the second stretch goal (13,500 backers) you can get (what appears to be) a cardboard backdrop and some bones. How is that for motivation? I don’t know, I’m just spitballing here, but shouldn’t a cardboard backdrop already be a part of the packaging diorama? So, does this motivate you any? Let us know if this changes your mind in our comments!
Exciting news, StarWars fans! It’s time to reveal the second stretch goal for the Star Wars The Black Series The Rancor HasLab. When this project reaches 13,500 backers, it unlocks movie-inspired bone accessories and a detailed world-building backdrop to create your very own movie-inspired display!

The not quite cheap Ghostbusters proton pack was fully funded on Friday, the campaign crossed the 7,000 backers threshold and that means Ghostbusters fans can look forward to a really good locking, though quite expensive, proton pack replica. Meanwhile the Rancor crossed the 50% mark on Friday. If the Hasbro livestream was meant to convince people to back the Rancor it had little effect, not all that many people gave the Rancor their support today. The GI Joe Skystriker HasLab also crossed the 50% threshold just now, but both it and the Rancor have slowed down a lot and it will take quite some time before both are fully funded. Now why a $400 Ghostbusters proton pack is fully funded after one week while the $350 Rancor is gaining backers at a snail’s pace and won’t be fully funded for another few weeks is anyone’s guess. There are apparently lots more Ghostbusters fans out there than one might guess. Or maybe people are afraid of ghosts and need something to protect themselves from supernatural apparitions… if you want something to fight ghosts with you can of course still back the proton pack on HasLab.

The Hasbro HasLab Rancor livestream just ended and not much was actually revealed. Hasbro showed photos of a very first prototype, not the actual prototype itself though. And they revealed the very first tier that becomes available once 11,000 people back the Rancor. And what is that tier? A repacked Gamorrean Guard on a Power of the Force card with coin… Click through for a few photos!

The Black Series Rancor HasLab was launched 9 days ago. One day after the Rancor the very first GI Joe HasLab followed. And while the GI Joe HasLab is quite different, it’s much cheaper, it may still be interesting to compare the two. So where is the Rancor after 9 days and how does it compare to the GI Joe Skystriker? Click through for more info!

Hasbro just officially announced the brand new Black Series Rancor HasLab! We knew about this for months ever since Patrick’s slip of the tongue, but now we have all the details!
Price: $350
Size: 44.45 cm / 17.5 in tall, 30.48 cm / 12 in wide, much more with arms outstretched
Technical details: 45 points of articulation (including fingers) and 900 paint apps
Minimum number of backers is 9,000 by December 6th, more tiers will be made available at 11,000 and 13,500 with tiers 3 and 4 not having any goal lines yet. No stretch goals for any of the tiers have been revealed yet. As of now the Rancor comes without any extra figures, but that will certainly change once the tiers have been unlocked!
You can (if you happen to live in the US, Canada or UK, that is) back your Rancor now! Head over to the HasLab site to order Jabba’s favorite pet!
Hasbro will also partner with retailers in certain select markets to make the Rancor available in other parts of the world. No specifics were given, my guess is that several European core markets may get access to the Rancor.
Will you back the Rancor or ignore the latest Star Wars HasLab?

Patrick announced on Today’s Livestream that the HasLab Razor Crest will not be shipping this fall, but is now delayed until “Early 2022” due to the large number of backers that funded the project. It looks like we will have to wait a little longer for this ship to arrive!

The Black Series Rancor HasLab is about to be launched very soon and the general feeling among Star Wars collectors seems to amount to a mere shrug, it’s very much wait and see here. Meanwhile our dear Marvel friends have reason to celebrate today. Hasbro’s latest Marvel HasLab ended just moments ago. And it’s apparent that Marvel collectors have deep pockets and love their HasLabs. Galactus was off to a relatively modest start, only a week ago he had only about 14,000 backers. But as expected the past few days and hours gave Galactus a huge boost. In fact, Galactus has just become the most successful HasLab yet! Click through for more!

While not really Star Wars news it may still be of interest to most Star Wars collectors to see what Hasbro is coming up with for Marvel fans with the latest Marvel HasLab. And in a livestream today Hasbro revealed the latest Marvel HasLab item: a gigantic Galactus action figure. Click through for a few more details!

Hasbro accidentally revealed what the upcoming Black Series HasLab is going to be: a Rancor. Now the big question is: is a Rancor all that exciting or actually kind of underwhelming? All the previous Star Wars and Marvel HasLab items impressed with their sheer size, how does the Rancor fit in here? So let’s look at the sizes of a few HasLab items to see how a Black Series Rancor would compare!
Update: after yesterday’s slip up Hasbro has now officially confirmed that the Rancor will indeed be the next Star Wars HasLab! The official Star Wars site has the announcement! And Patrick may get no dessert for the next month or so.

The announcement of a very first Black Series HasLab was certainly a surprise! Patrick would not reveal any details, of course, other than that the item will not be a vehicle! So what could it be? It more or less boils down to a creature and/or figures. Unless it’s a diorama piece / playset? So what would you like the very first Black Series HasLab to be? A Rancor? Jabba’s Palace playset? Or maybe a set of Cantina aliens? Leave your suggestions in the comments!

Is it just me, or has Hasbro severely lacked on communicating any HasLab Razor Crest updates? This wasted HasLab slot is eagerly anticipated, and we’re in the dark. You’d think they want the large population of collectors who backed 28K units happy, but what do I know? It feels like they were updating us on Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) every couple of weeks, perhaps monthly. We haven’t had a blessed update since it was fully backed. “Where’s the update?” Clara Peller would want to know!

Now that the Razor Crest has turned out to be the most successful HasLab project yet, I think it’s time to think about the future. What I want to focus on is what kinds of projects Hasbro should do. Do you want more big vehicles and ships? Do you even have the space for more big vehicles and ships? So the real question is: would you eventually stop backing huge Star Wars HasLab vehicles, because you simply have no more space to put them anywhere or to display them properly? Just check out the photo below which shows a 1/18 scale AT-AT next to Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as Luke and Leia. So let’s talk about whether or not more big vehicles is what you want or if more big vehicles may eventually result in collectors no longer willing to back a Star Wars HasLab because they have run out of space. Click through for the short discussion.

The HasLab campaign for the Razor Crest ended five minutes ago and the final backer count is an astounding 28,257! That’s a new record and beats the Marvel Sentinel by more than 6,000 backers. The Razor Crest was off to a great start when it was fully funded after 26 hours. As expected things slowed down a lot after the first few days but it picked up steam again in the last week. Let’s celebrate an extremely successful Star Wars HasLab that exceeded everyone’s expectations! And let’s hope it sends all the right signals to Hasbro. Do you already have plans for your Razor Crest? How will you display it? And what is your wish for a potential third Star Wars Haslab in 2022 or so?

Collecting is not a competition, many people will love both the Star Wars and Marvel franchise, but it will probably still be very satisfying for most Star Wars collectors to learn that just now the Star Wars HasLab surpassed the Marvel HasLab. The Sentinel had an impressive number of 21,913 backers, but the Razor Crest just now crossed that mark.
Star Wars went through a difficult phase in 2018, after years of rapidly declining merchandise sales, but ever since then the numbers have increased again. Hasbro have been reporting growth for the brand ever since early 2019 and to see that the second Star Wars HasLab is now the most successful HasLab campaign yet is certainly a very good sign for the franchise and the brand. Let’s hope Hasbro will use that momentum to release many more Black Series and Vintage Collection figures and sets in the coming months. And hopefully, The Mandalorian will be a huge focus.
What does the fact that Star Wars just beat Marvel mean to you? Did you back both the Sentinel and the Razor Crest? Do you think Hasbro will take note and increase their Star Wars output in 2021? Click through for more.

This is it, folks! We know it’s being made, we got all the unlock tiers, and it’s now the final day to back the Razorcrest! Get on over to Hasbropulse today to back one for yourself! Like the sail barge, this is Haslab exclusive, so if you don’t back it today, you’re likely to pay aftermarket prices a year from now. Don’t forget, too, if you’re one of our overseas readers you can back through Zavvi. This is going to be the biggest Haslab yet! Way to show how much we care about The Vintage Collection!

With 3 1/2 days still to go the HasLab Razor Crest is now fast approaching 17,000 backers, which means the Jawa Elder will very soon be unlocked. Most likely within the hour (the count rose by another 12 backers in the past 5 minutes since I took the screenshot). So now the only question is if the Razor Crest will get more than 20,000 backers with roughly 83 hours left on the clock.
Are you surprised by the success of the campaign? And what is your overall opinion on the Razor Crest HasLab with its various unlocks? Is it all you hoped for? Or would you have wished for more?
No matter what you think, it is certainly good news for Star Wars collectors that the campaign (most likely) exceeded Hasbro’s expectations and may even come close to the Marvel campaign in regard to the total number of backers. Now the real question is if something that receives close to 20,000 backers really needs to be a crowdfunded item. Do you feel HasLab should be more niche and appeal strictly to hardcore collectors or are you ok with the fact that the Razor Crest can be considered a mainstream item from a current show that is extremely popular among collectors? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
UPDATE: the Jawa is unlocked, backer count is now at more than 17,500!
UPDATE 2: the Razor Crest has crossed the 19,000 backers mark with 54 hours still to go. At the current rate it is quite likely the Razor Crest will get more backers than the Marvel Sentinel!
