We have just one word for The Vintage Collection Bib Fortuna: WOW. (more….)
Welcome to another entry in our The Vintage Collection: The Ninety Six column. Hasbro recently committed to collectors that they will be “focusing” on characters in The Vintage Collection that fall under “The Ninety Six” banner. If you’re new to this, it means that there needs a modern counterpart for every classic Kenner figure. Between 2020 and 2021, Hasbro’s made an admirable effort by focusing on these characters. But there is more work to be done, and we’ll figure out where we are step by step. Today we assess Yak Face.
I love toy photography. I follow about 20 pages on Instagram who regularly post new photos of toys from Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Hot Wheels, and more. I’m not sure as though I have seen a photo mirror a movie scene so accurately as this amazing work of art done by James R. Special thanks to him for letting me share his photo from Facebook. Another thanks to Steve Evans for signing off on such a beautiful design. Have you done any photography with your new skiffs? Show it off in the comments!
The Russo Brothers joke on the latest episode of the Star Wars Show that Kevin Feige “ended up buying like half of them just so they would make it so he could have one of them himself!” This part of the conversation starts around the 8:20 mark. Check it out!
With special thanks to JTA reader Matthew C., we’re alerted to an Instagram user who’s taken his Jabba’s Sail Barge to the beach to shoot some incredibly beautiful images. Check them out on Instagram!
Longtime JTA reader Darth Curmudgeon received a damaged Sail Barge box. He then contacted Hasbro’s customer service. Please click through for the correspondence.
It’s time to add the massive Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) to our Visual Guides! We have a massive Visual Guide prepared for this amazing vehicle, and have also added quite a few extras for this guide, including an additional gallery featuring many of our favorite viewer submissions that were uploaded to our New Acquistion page. After checking out our slide gallery, be sure to scroll down and check out the rest of the additional information and gallery images (including unboxing images). And, of course, don’t forget to stop by our review to join the full discussion on this vehicle.
Pro Tip: When viewing our Visual Guides, double-click on the slide to open up the viewer in full-screen mode, then use the arrows on your keyboard to scroll through the gallery.
Our friends at Bantha Skull have reached out to Litzky PR to lock down a time when the international supply of Jabba’s Sail Barge goes up for order on eBay. They write “Limited quantities of Hasbro’s The Vintage Collection Jabba’s Sail Barge will be available to purchase on the official Hasbro Pulse Ebay page (sponsored) on Thursday, 3/28, at 3 PM EST (7 PM GMT). Please note, orders of more than 1 Barge or any orders with a US or Canadian shipping address will not be processed.” Click the image below for a direct link to the auction page.
Last year, while working our butts off to help get the Sail Barge fully backed, we posted an article on how international collectors could order it via MyUs.com. Those who pre-ordered the Sail Barge internationally through this service were able to place it under US address. (It’s one of their many services.) Well, JTA reader Packo M. took advantage of this service, and his Sail Barge arrived in excellent condition. Check out his full story by clicking through.
The dust has mostly settled with Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna). Those who received damaged product are set to receive a replacement. Orders are placed for missing parts. And Hasbro is organizing all the damage to Yak Face to see what can be done with those issues. But one thing I cannot understand is some people criticizing those who are selling their “extras” for profit. The criticism is beginning to boil over now. (more….)
If you’re going to customize a $500 toy, you’d better do it right. Empire Toy Works posted photos of his sail barge, the Highfalutin. This custom hits it out of the park, in my opinion. Empire Toy Works is an inspiration to my own customizing, though, so I may be a bit biased. Rotgut Station is the dream world of collectors like me who love a really good diorama. Be sure to click the Instagram link to see more photos of this wonderful ship, and let us know in the comments if you think this is stunning, or sacrilege.

JTA reader George S. contacted Hasbro’s customer service about the impending “international release” of Jabba’s Sail Barge. And hopefully, it will comfort international collectors desperate to obtain this vehicle in their collections. It’s exclusionary to the people who already had a chance to grab them. Find out more by clicking through.
At first glance, you might think they didn’t design the jail cell door from the Barge very well. It seems to only open just enough to be annoying. But, if you try just a bit harder, and carefully apply a little more subtle force when opening it, you will see that the cell door actually opens all the way. This gives you full access to the entire cell. So, go open up the door and have a look around! Thanks to Dave over at Rebelscum for the heads up!
Here is the eBay listing for the HasLab Jabba’s Sail Barge from hasbro-pulse eBay seller.
UPDATE: I don’t know what to think of this eBay auction anymore. At least you can’t order these, so no one is in danger of a scam. But this is odd.
JTA reader Ed D. found a listing on his eBay application for Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) under eBay seller Hasbro-pulse. They don’t have any listings when you search by seller, but it looks like this going for sale online is imminent.
Strictly speaking from an “oversight” perspective, it appears the only important detail Hasbro missed on Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) is the rope swing Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia used to swing from the sail barge to the get-away skiff. How could they miss this crucial detail? That’s like leave out the bubble wand from the vintage Kenner Death Star playset!
It’s the ides of March, but we’ve got nothing but good news to share. Hasbro released the most-perfect item for all Star Wars collectors. It’s finally in our possessions now. And as if in almost perfect serendipity: today is our 3,583rd review. The “83” represents 1983, the year of Return Of The Jedi. And the “35” represents the number of years it took Hasbro to announce that they would make Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) in The Vintage Collection from the release of the film (2018).
Over 6,000 of you have already checked out our review, and between the New Acquisitions (currently comments) page and the RDR page, we have accumulated nearly 800 comments. If you haven’t left your two cents, be sure to do so! Also, the revised gallery now exceeds 170 images! We added new images including the Sarlacc Pit among others for you to enjoy. Please be sure to check out the updated review!
Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) is the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or comment about it on our Facebook page. Thank you, Rivesjunctionite for the hearty laugh today. I am sure many fellow collectors can relate to your experience. If you want to offer some advice, please do so below or in our comments in the Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) review! 🙂
There’s probably no other way to describe Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) than to use words like overwhelming and exhilarated. This long-awaited HasLab product is finally here, and it’s probably the most significant thing Hasbro has ever created in the Star Wars line. I spent today writing a long review putting my heart on my sleeve and describing every last detail of this vehicle. We have more images coming in our already-completed 140+ photo gallery (more images will follow), but everything else is done, so we’re sharing it early with you. In the meantime, enjoy both vintage Kenner and modern Hasbro figures set up in this behemoth.
We also included full images and comparison shots of Jabba The Hutt in addition to the exclusive Yak Face.
If you didn’t back this item, and you’re a 3.75″ collector, you’re going to feel the pain of missing out. Hopefully, our review and gallery will allow you to enjoy it vicariously. I spent over 19 hours between assembling, the photo shoot, the gallery preparation and the review template and write-up. So, please leave your thoughts and opinions of this vehicle in the comments. It would help make up for the lost time I can’t get back 🙂 Thanks!
The Khetanna is making its way into homes daily! We thought this was a good time to revive and revamp our listing of figures you can use to populate your barge. We did some homework and compiled a list of characters you’ll need (that have been produced by Hasbro as an action figure already) with your Sail Barge. Click through to see a comprehensive list of existing Hasbro 3.75″ action figures required to effectively populate Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna)!
Wow! Between the frequent shipping nightmare reports and broken content complaints we’re receiving, here is something we bet you haven’t heard yet. JTA reader Grand Admiral Tom posts his horror in our Barge Acquisitions page. He didn’t get the coin to the Yak Face figure! Click the image below to check it out!
UPDATE: The coin was at the bottom of the box! It fell out during transit. Still, it’s a shame his Yak Face figure packaging was damaged. New image provided and added by Grand Admiral Tom in the comments.
Lord have mercy. These things are about 50% larger than I expected. Time to downsize! My Jabba’s Sail Barges arrived, two days earlier than expected!
This might be the straw that will break the collector’s back. Jabba’s Sail Barges are arriving damaged. Look at the hashes on this box. There were whispers from the collecting community that FedEx was the worst choice to use for this campaign. Let’s hope this is an isolated incident. But many of us have yet to receive ours. IMages come from #WeBackedTheBarge Facebook group.
In case you’re interested or need the reminder, Jabba’s Sail Barge is double-boxed. See the image below. Special thanks to JTA reader Avionazul for the image and alert!
In the meantime, don’t forget to post your images on our dedicated Jabba’s Sail Barge acquisitions page. Show off your purchase and join like-minded collectors in this fantastic first HasLab offering. Click HERE to post.
