I found an article on Polygon today that is humorous in part. While summarizing the new offerings from Hasbro based on The Mandalorian, they reference The Vintage Collection in a funny way. They describe it as “There’s also a sort of junior version of the Black Series called the Vintage Collection, which brings a greater level of detail and articulation to the traditional 3.75-inch scale, at merely 150% of the cost.” It’s almost as if the writer doesn’t understand the history of Star Wars action figures. Then to confuse things, they go on to describe the Retro Collection. Isn’t that the traditional 3.75″ format? Is this a chicken-or-the-egg scenario? Also of interest, the original title of the article was “Star Wars toys and Mandalorian figures aren’t really for kids anymore” which probably put Hasbro in a panic, and they since changed it to “Star Wars toys keep changing, and leaving kids behind.” We’re not sure why that was changed. Anyhow, The Black Series line exists BECAUSE of the traditional 3.75″ scale and The Vintage Collection. It’s not the other way around. Check out the article for yourself.
