We’ve wrapped up our first day at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. It was a stellar day that included lots of trailers, a live performance by John Williams, a red carpet premiere, and of course lots of SWAG trading!   Click through for our gallery featuring costuming and festivities from the first day around the convention!

The biggest news of today (so far) is the reveal of a brand new upcoming live action Star Wars series on Disney+ titled “Skeleton Crew”. Not very much is known at this stage, here is the blurb we have from Disney about the show:

The show takes place during the post–’Return of the Jedi’ reconstruction that follows the fall of the Empire, the same as ‘The Mandalorian,’ but its plot remains a secret. It’s created and executive-produced by director Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford, who made ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ for Marvel. A casting notice has called for four children, around 11 to 12 years old. Inside Lucasfilm, the show is being described as a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.

Variety reports that Jude Law will star in the series, so at least one adult main character will be featured in the series and with Jude Law Lucasfilm secured a very well known star. Lucasfilm has not been too successful with kid-centric content so far, most of which was low budget animated efforts on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel. With “Skeleton Crew” Lucasfilm is apparently trying to engage kids and families in earnest.

Star Wars Celebration has kicked off with a few reveals and updates! First up is the first proper look at the brand new Andor series coming later this year on August 31st! Season 1 wrapped filming, season 2 will begin filming in November! While season 1 is set 5 years before Rogue One, season 2 will explore the timeline right until Rogue One. Disney also released a teaser trailer, which you can watch when you click through!

The trailer doesn’t show that much of Andor himself, but instead focuses on worldbuilding and showing us what the series, the setting, supporting characters and villains will look like and sets the tone for what to expect from Andor. It does look pretty impressive! But check out for yourself after the jump!

Click through for a first-day look at the Hasbro booth. There were a few new items (this weeks reveals) but most was already revealed products. Patrick told us they wanted to get many of the releases from the past few years out since they’ve not been able to do an in person event for a while.  Check back again after the Hasbro Panel on Friday for an updated look at their booth. There were plenty of empty cases with placeholders for upcoming reveals. The booth is front and center when you walk in the doors.

IGN revealed the first Star Wars Celebration Hasbro exclusive: The Black Series Jon Favreau (Paz Vizsla). Attendees can (you guessed it) pre-order this exclusive with a special one-time code obtained at Celebration. Afterward, there will be limited quantities for general pre-order. It’s nearly time again for another Star Wars Celebration. I will be heading west tomorrow morning to begin JTA’s coverage. I will be working some shifts at the Kentucky Star Wars Collector Club booth (booth 2682) at various times throughout the event while doing JTA coverage, so be sure to stop by and say hi!

Star Wars is celebrating a little earlier next year. Previously slated for August of 2022, Celebration Anaheim will now be held from May 26-29. Get the full details, including some information for current ticket holders, over at the Official Site.

It’s been expected, and it’s now official: Star Wars Celebration Anaheim is canceled. Star Wars Celebration has been rescheduled for Anaheim for August 18-21, 2022. Get the full details in the official press release below.
