With all of the crazy Black Friday and Cyber Monday hoopla, it appears many of you missed out or didn’t know about the TVC Luke Skywalker (Yavin) Walmart exclusive figure for $6.99. It’s still that price if you’re interested. Thanks to all who wrote in reminding us that this deal probably didn’t make it out there fully.

As everyone knows the Star Wars Special Editions are the only available versions of the movies. The new 4K versions on Disney+ have tweaked things a bit, improved color grading, there are some minor edits here and there, but they too are the Special Editions of course. Which is just what George Lucas intended. He considers the Special Edition the ultimate edition, the version fans should see. However, many old fans would also like to see the original version of the movies they saw in cinemas back in 1977, 1980 and 1983. The last time these versions were released was in 2006 as mediocre DVD transfers.
However, you can watch the original version of Star Wars even today. Even in 4k! In this article I want to talk about how you could, in theory, watch the original, unadulterated Star Wars movie. In this article I will tell you about two fanmade edits of Star Wars and I will show you several screenshots, so you can see how they differ from each other and the Blu-Ray. However, there are several important caveats. I will address them after the jump! So click through for a trip back in time, when “A New Hope” was simply “Star Wars”.

Chapter 5 of The Mandalorian takes the hero and Baby Yoda to Tatooine (we knew that from the posters and various trailers already). I thought it would be fun to compare The Mandalorian’s Tatooine with what we saw in A New Hope. I also take a look at color grading and what has changed here since 1977. So click through for a few comparisons and to see how faitfhfully the show managed to recreate the planet. Very mild spoilers may apply, so people who don’t like even the mildest of spoilers (basically, just set pieces from the first 5 minutes or so from the show) should only click through once they have seen the episode! We’ve hit the 100th figure in The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ line. And Hasbro took this landmark event for granted by spelling his name incorrectly TWICE on the box. Hasbro, we have to chat. Thank you for providing us definitive updates of the Luke Skywalker (Yavin) and Princess Leia Organa (Yavin) figures. You did a fantastic job on them, and the enhancements you made to the figures are appreciated. But did you realize you produced these characters as they appeared at the very end of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope? You forgot to update these characters in their outfits at the BEGINNING of the film. We made it easy for you. We provided images of the figures you neglected to update. Click through for more!

You can check out rough Photo Galleries for The Vintage Collection wave 24 RIGHT NOW in our Research Droids Reviews. The RDRs, begin tomorrow, but you can check out most of them now. Princess Leia Organa (Yavin) (VC150) got delayed but will be here tomorrow. I’ll add her as soon as she arrives. In a nutshell, wave 24 is a great “repack and repaint” wave. (Remember those?)
Interestingly, the Sith Trooper is an all-new figure. I thought for sure he used parts from the SIth Jet Trooper, but not a single part is reused. For me, the Jawa is bittersweet. I desperately wanted a Jawa on a Star Wars card, and Hasbro delivered. But I would be lying if I said I am content with the straight repack of The Black Series [Phase II] figure. A Jawa deserves all-new tooling and premium soft-goods. At the moment, the Shadow Trooper is my favorite of the bunch so far. It’s a fantastic sculpt, and the extra gear is appreciated and welcomed. Anyway, be sure to check them all out!

This Luke will (also) be available as a German con exclusive, apparently and he comes in a quite nice looking special box and a host of interesting accessories!
