Deadline reports that advance ticket sales for Solo: A Star Wars Story are breaking records. Within 24 hours ticket sales for the movie on Fandango bested Black Panther’s advance ticket sales and only come in behind advance ticket sales for Avengers Infinity War. Click through for more!
According to a Fandango survey 85% of the fans say that Solo is one of their favorite Star Wars characters, 76% can’t wait to see Ehrenreich as Solo, and 73% are particularly excited to see Donald Glover as young Lando Calrissian.
So it seems Solo: A Star Wars Story could very well be a huge success after all. Early projections for the Memoral Day weekend say Solo could make $170 million on its opening weekend. Solo’s projected Memorial Day Weekend box office would make it the new record holder for that special weekend.
The current record holder is Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, with almost $140 millon. But that was eleven years ago. Perhaps Solo can make Memorial Day box office more relevant again.
Black Panther’s 3 day opening weekend was $202 million. Maybe if the trend for the advance ticket sales continues Solo may even beat Black Panther. The 4 day weekend will certainly help here.
What are your feelings? Did the trailers convince you that Solo could be a fun Star Wars movie? Have you already bought your ticket? Or will you sit this one out or wait for fan feedback before you decide to see it in a theater?
