The Vintage Collection Pecking Order: How Hasbro Should Focus The Line

While there have been recent glimmers of hope with The Vintage Collection, collectors on average generally feel that the return of The Vintage Collection hasn’t met expectations. The overwhelming number of Sequel Trilogy straight repacks have sullied the line to the point of affecting distribution already. And the only strong seller is an Original Trilogy character from 2010 that consistently sells out long before any newer figures from the Sequel Trilogy. We thought about the whole situation more and put together a pecking order of the types of characters Hasbro should focus on (ranking them #1 through #10) to make a solid line of action figures that would mimic the Golden Age of Collecting approach. Click through and see if you agree. Let’s do our part to help Hasbro make The Vintage Collection the most excellent line it should be.

#1 Never-before-made characters from the Original Trilogy.

#2 Never-before-made characters from the Prequel Trilogy.

#3 Any “Collect All 92!” Original Trilogy characters that have not been part of The Vintage Collection but released previously in another line. (e.g. Ree-Yees, Cloud City Wing Guard [Sergeant Edian], Ugnaught, etc.)

#4 Never-before-made characters from the Legends Expanded Universe. (I would include realistic versions of The Clone Wars here because this source is pre-Disney even though it’s considered canon now.)

#5 Original Trilogy smart repacks outside of the “Collect All 92!” grouping.

#6 Never-before-made characters from Disney Star Wars standalone films.

#7 Never-before-made characters from the Sequel Trilogy.

#8 Prequel Trilogy smart repacks.

#9 Disney Star Wars Sequel Trilogy repacks (but no more than two or three per year).

#10 Never-before-made characters from Disney Star Wars Canon.
