The Mandalorian was certainly a very toyetic series. Now that the season finale is behind us it is time to look at what figures and vehicles Hasbro could make to make collectors happy! Be warned, this article is somewhat graphics heavy. Also, the list is completely scale-agnostic, so unless noted otherwise all things mentioned here are for both TVC and TBS, no need to debate about scales about here! Now click through for an extensive list of Mandalorian characters and vehicles I think would make for great toys!
I will break the list down into categories! I will mention important accessories, when necessary! The regular Mandalorian and Cara Dune are not mentioned here, they will come for TVC in 2020 and have already been released for TBS! First, let’s look at the important main /side characters!
|
The Mandalorian goes through several versions of his armor. I think a battle damaged version would make sense. This version already has the new Beskar shoulder pauldron. This version should absolutely have Baby Yoda in his floating crib as an accessory. Another accessory should be the egg and let’s not forget about the vibro blade he uses. Maybe this could be a deluxe figure if Hasbro feels they would go broke with all that many accessories. |
The Beskar armor look is the one the Mandalorian has for most episodes, so giving us this version is certainly a no-brainer. This figure should come with an extra left shoulder pauldron with his signet, so you can swap pieces depending on what scene you want to recreate. He must also come with his detachable jet pack. The cape must be soft goods this time. Another great accessory would be the new crib for Baby Yoda Kuill makes in Episode 7! Maybe this could be yet another deluxe figure. But the accessories are absolutely needed.
Kuill is certainly an essential character. He could either come alone or as a 2-pack with a Blurrg!
|
The Mandalorian Armorer should come with two smithing tools, so she can properly beat up pesky Imperial Stormtroopers! The fur could be made of the same material as the Range Trooper’s fur. |
|
While TBS has a very bad IG-11 figure, TVC as no version at all. But Hasbro should revisit IG-11 for both scales and make him screen accurate this time! IG-11 should have a removable bandolier and come with a carry bag with Baby Yoda inside which he can attach to his chest, so he can also be used as the nurse droid! His front chest panel should be removable as well to reveal his reactor / detonator which is an important plot device. |
Greef Carga should be made with battle damaged attire (i.e. after the shoot out with the Mandalorian). While he’s wearing yet another brown outfit (what is it with Star Wars and earth tones?) with added damage he has quite a few nice details. The cape must be made of cloth! |
With the important protagonists out of the way I now look at bounty hunters. There were quite a few of them in the show, and we should get at least some, because a few of them have very interesting designs!
Not technically a bounty hunter, but an assassin, Fennec Shand has a good design and the figure would certainly please collectors. She must have a removable helmet!
This quite colorful Rodian would be nice to have. He (or she) gets later disintegrated by the Mandalorian, but the figure would certainly be a great addition.
I don’t know who she is or what her name is, but she looks cool! This female bounty hunter not only has a colorful (well, red) outfit, she also has lots of great details on her costume and would be an excellent figure to have!
This Zabrak bounty hunter is yet another great design. Who wouldn’t want a Zabrak bounty hunter in their action figure collection?
Yet another cool design, this time a masked bounty hunter.
The Kubaz bounty hunter is also something any collector would certainly love to have!
At least one Trandoshan bounty hunter is needed. Preferably the one with the cape (which must be a soft goods cape).
This is for TVC only! The bounty hunter pilot and his fighter had a great design. Also, the Razor Crest (which is also on the list) needs something to fight in space! |
There were a few Imperials on the show, so we certainly need some of them as well!
The Client is essential. Also, the world needs a Werner Herzog action figure! He should have the ice cream maker (which you can open to reveal the Beskar inside) as an accessory!
Moff Gideon is another essential figure. He needs his darksaber of course. Cape must be made of cloth for cool poses.
The Incinerator Trooper could make the pegwarming First Order Flame Trooper a thing of the past. An OT based flame trooper would certainly not pegwarm.
The Remnant Stormtroopers just need weathering added to existing sculpts for both TBS and TVC. SH.Figuarts have shown their prototypes already.
The Imperial Speeder Bike (white) with Remnant Scout Trooper could be a nice set. However, the Scout Trooper needs a newly sculpted helmet. Regulations have slipped and the helmet is cracked open. Also, the bag with a Baby Yoda inside is a mandatory accessory. SH.Figuarts have shown a prototype, and the Scout Trooper even comes with the bag (but you can’t see Baby Yoda inside of it).
This if for TVC only! The troop transport! Chances are this will actually get made in 2020! |
The show also had various interesting side characters. So let’s take a look at what side characters could make for fantastic action figures!
Either a 2-pack or as individual figures.
|
|
Burg, Mayfeld and Xi’an could also be popular with collectors. While I at first thought that Xi’an looks boring closer inspection reveals some nice details on her costume, they are only somewhat hard to see in the episode. Mayfeld with his additional blaster backpack has a nice gimmick. These should come as individual figures! Burg must come with the mouse droid as an accessory!
Zero is needed to complete the team. He’s a cool looking droid! He was also used (the same droid model) for a bounty hunter. If Hasbro loved us they would provide us with the means to give him either the look featured here or his bounty hunter look (the harness needs to be removable and he needs a different blaster as well).
Matt Lanter as Davan was a nice cameo. But the New Republic Trooper is also a nice design. He should come with both his blaster and the New Republic distress beacon!
Partly based on the K2 design this New Republic Security Droid would surely be welcome by most as well.
This EV-series cantina droid is needed. It could also double as a torturer, if needed!
An astromech that can walk? Why not! It would make for a new an interesting addition to anyone’s collection.
Greef Carga’s bodyguards have an interesting look. The Trandoshan with the bucket on his head is certainly a highlight here. Either as a special 3-pack or, probably better, as individual figures. If Hasbro only wants to make one guard, then the Trandoshan!
Not really a Death Star Droid, he’s a bartender here, but it’s the same design. And it’s needed!
The Pit Droids. TBS has none so far. Either make all three as a 3-pack or at least one! Making just one is probably more feasible, even if they all have slightly different paint apps.
The show had numerous interesting looking background characters. This short alien with tentacles and helmet looks rather intriguing and would add a lot of flair!
Yet another cantina alien, we see him early on in the first episode when the Mandalorian is after his very first target. It’s yet another interesting design with four eyes and a costume that seems to have quite a lot of details. This figure would also add a lot of background flair! |
And finally, let’s look at creatures and vehicles!
And that’s it! A massive list! I think that most of them would be welcome by collectors. If Hasbro is smart they will focus on Mandalorian toys in 2020! The show is a treasure trove when it comes to toys!
Do you agree with my list? Did I miss something? Do you think any of the figures here are realistic options in 2020? Or will Hasbro only make very few Mandalorian toys? If it comes to the most essential characters then Kuill, the Armorer and Moff Gideon are absolutely needed. But I’d buy every single figure on this list.
