A brand new IMAX poster for The Rise of Skywalker has been released. And it is the first time Luke and Leia are featured in any promotional material. So far, Luke was not seen in any of the trailers or promotional photos. Here, he and Leia are looming large behind Rey and Kylo.

The latest episode of The Mandalorian, “Sanctuary”, was released earlier today. It’s another great one. Maybe not as action packed as the previous episodes, but instead we get more character development and some really cute and funny Baby Yoda moments. Chapter 4 is basically the Mandalorian version of “The Seven Samurai”, when a village asks the Mandalorian for help against bandits. You will certainly have lots of fun in the episode and Baby Yoda proves to be a scene stealer once again.

The next two cards from the weekly Topps Star Wars Living Set are now out. Featuring the iconic blue starfield and the impressive artwork of Kris Penix, check out L3-37 (#51) and Nute Gunray (#52). Each Tuesday, two new cards will be released and be only available for one week.

Deadline reports some early box office tracking numbers for The Rise of Skywalker. This is what they have to say about the opening weekend:

We’ve been hearing for quite some time from exhibitors and distribution sources that advance ticket sales are strong, but not overly robust for Disney/Lucasfilm’s finale Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, meaning in the way that they were for 2015’s Force Awakens ($247.9M) and 2017’s Last Jedi ($220M). Hence, early AM estimates for the J.J. Abrams movie hitting tracking, when averaged are at $205M given the comparative titles provided.

Info about a rare Purge Stormtrooper box variant has appeared on the German Star Wars Figuren forum. The box doesn’t have the multilingual short biography on the back, but instead all five blurbs just repeat the English text. What is it with Hasbro and their various errors on Black Series boxes recently? Luke Skywalkwer anyone? Good luck hunting down the box variant and selling it for one million dollars on eBay! Let us know if you found it or maybe even have it in your collection!

CNN Business released an article about our favorite toymaker and according to CNN Business Hasbro “really, really needs you to buy ‘Frozen 2’ and ‘Star Wars’ toys this holiday season”. While the article goes in detail about Frozen merchandise, which shall not concern us here, it also talks at length about Star Wars toys and lack of sales and why it really needs to change this holiday season. An all new Toys R Us store will open in New Jersey tomorrow (November 27th). This is the first new store after the bankruptcy and part of a very limited comeback. Location of the store is on the second floor of the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus. Grand opening is at 10 a.m. and Geoffrey will also make an appearance at the ribbon cutting ceremony. Perhaps people who happen to live in New Jersey can take a look and report what the new TRU store looks like and if they carry any Star Wars toys at all.

The recently released “They fly now?!?” The Rise of Skywalker clip once more proves that continuity means very little in Disney Star Wars canon. When Lucasfilm was bought by Disney the existing books and comics were relegated to “Legends” status (not that they ever really were canon to begin with) and a new policy was introduced: going forward every single book, comic and even the story parts of computer games would be canon. Which is, in theory, a good thing, if you want to convince fans of said books, comics and games that the money and time spent on these media is giving you real insight into what happens between the movies and not just something some author thought up but which has no real impact on actual Star Wars events.
The Story Group wanted to make sure it all connects. But first “The Last Jedi” and now even more so “They fly now” show that Lucasfilm’s canon policy is in ruins. Why? Click through for some background!

I’ve been informed by a GameStop store manager that the time has expired for those who pre-ordered the bundle for the Jedi Purge video game to be guaranteed it (they’ll receive pre-order credit). Now, while I can’t confirm the validity of his claim, but I can tell you that he graciously sold me a Purge Stormtrooper with that explanation. So, it might be worth your while to visit your local chain and see if they have any extras lying around. And if your store doesn’t, have no fear. They’ll be available soon for everyone online.

Well, this is not good, folks. And Hasbro, it’s time to get back to Original Trilogy basics. Collectors have voted with their dollars, and it appears they’re sick of straight either repacks and not interested in new vehicles, not from the Original Trilogy (or Prequel Trilogy). Yes, we’re sure there are exceptions to this. The Imperial Combat Assault Tank wasn’t one of them. $10 Imperial Combat Assault Tanks at Five Below is not an encouraging sight for The Vintage Collection brand. A metal knob can be very significant

Initially, I was quite critical of the “Carbonized” variations released as store exclusives for The Black Series [Phase III] line. Over time, I’ve developed an affinity for them. In many instances, I think some of the armored parts and metal parts on the characters look significantly better than the standard painted-plastic treatments. (more….)

Many fans wondered why there is no merchandise for one of the breakout characters from the Mandalorian. Of course I am talking about the cutest infant ever seen in Star Wars. Now Variety has an article on their website saying that Jon Favreau is actually the one to “blame” here, he specifically asked Disney to withhold merchandise for Baby Yoda so that viewers would not be spoiled. Now while most of the world still cannot watch the show legally, the cat is out of the bag. Not only do mainstream newssites (even here in Germany where the show won’t be available before April 1st 2020!) report about Baby Yoda, the official Star Wars twitter posted a photo. So the character can hardly be considered a spoiler anymore. Which is why merchandise can finally hit stores. But I digress, fans of the show and the character can be happy that merchandise will hit stores before Christmas. Some t-shirts are already available but of course everyone is waiting for that plush Baby Yoda. What other merchandise do you want? Leave your suggestions in the comments! SH-Figuarts seem to be on a roll. We only got official announcements for the Mandalorian and the Emperor today, when brand new photos of various (!) Knights of Ren, IG-11 and a repainted Scout trooper and Stormtrooper (from the Mandalorian, with weathered armor!) appear in the wild. The photos were taken at a showroom. Now these are all just prototypes, nothing was announced, but IG-11, for example, is actually an accurate representation of the droid, which means he has the proper claws! Now if only IG-11 has a good height, SHF is usually not so keen on giving tall characters an accurate height, while all the human characters usually have perfect scale. But chances are this IG droid will use very sturdy plastic! And after the lackluster IG-11 from Hasbro a screen accurate IG-11 from SHF could be just what collectors need! It remains to be seen if the KoR will go into production, maybe SHF is waiting for fan response to TROS; so far SHF only has Rey, Kylo and one Sith Trooper for TROS lined up, not very much. SHF love to reveal prototypes of figures that sometimes go into production next month, two years later or never. It remains to be seen what applies here! Click through for a few more photos!

SH.Figuarts have revealed two all-new Star Wars figures. One of them is actually not just a figure, but a set. First there is the Mandalorian, as you have seen him for about 10 minutes in the show before he gets his first piece of new armor. He comes with a cloth cape, looks very crisp, as usual, but maybe his helmet is somewhat too small, which is a common issue with many helmeted SHF figures.

And then there is the set with Emperor Palpatine from Return of the Jedi. In the set, you will get the Emperor, two Royal Guards (that are basically just statues), and of course, you get his throne. The Emperor comes with several extra pieces and bits. Including alternate heads, hands, Force lightning, and alternate legs and robes so he can sit on his throne. While the Mandalorian is a regular release, the set with the Emperor is a web exclusive and it will cost around $180. Going by the photos released by SHF the likeness is maybe not the best. The Emperor also seems to be a bit tall in the comparison photo with Vader (and Vader’s height is pretty accurate).

Both figures are expected to be released in May 2020. Pre-orders go live on Friday, November 22nd. If you want the Emperor you get a pre-order window. Everyone who wants a figure will get one. This is how the Bandai web exclusives work, figures are made to order. However, if you miss the pre-order window you will have to pay a lot on the aftermarket once the figure is released. Entertainment Weekly’s Star Wars issue is finally here and we’ve been given a look at eight new images as well as an article with bits of information from JJ and most of the cast of The Rise of Skywalker. Not much new information is revealed and it’s a safe read for those avoiding spoilery info, but it does finally shut down the question of which Death Star they’re on for good (despite the first Death Star wreckage being utilized by the people of Alderaan to build an artificial home of sorts some refused to accept it was the DSII). We also got a look at the three new covers for EW which span the three trilogies. Be sure to check out the images and the article!

The second Mandalorian episode was released earlier today! And it’s another winner. I cannot tell you anything really about this episode because a certain spoilery something is very much involved with the plot. The basic plot is simple, the Mandalorian found his target in Chapter 1 and wants to get back to his ship now. On his way back he is attacked by rival bounty hunters who want to kill his bounty, the Mandalorian expertly disposes of them, only to find that when he returns to his ship pesky Offworld Jawas have dismantled it… now he needs the parts back. But the Jawas want something in return… and the fun begins. This episode will be talked about for days and days and possibly even longer. I can tell you that!

Also, let me just tell you that whoever can subscribe to Disney+ and is remotely interested in Star Wars should subscribe now. $6.99, even if the only thing you’ll ever watch is The Mandalorian, is still just $0.88 per episode, and I bet you will rewatch the episodes a lot. It’s a bargain.

This show is a winner. It’s what the vast majority of Star Wars fans have hoped for, it’s what they want and what they need. It will make you happy. You will smile. You will be surprised. The show also expands the Star Wars mythos in a very fundamental way. So don’t wait, don’t hesitate, watch the episode now!  Just one caveat, the second episode is just 31 minutes long. We need more. Now! But we will have to wait until next Friday!

The Purge Stormtrooper from the Star Wars: Fallen Jedi Order video game (and other sources) was the most difficult 6″ figure for me to acquire this year, but I finally have one. It’s such a great figure, that I thought I’d get a sneak peek gallery up before tomorrow’s review. Now that we have an Airborne Trooper head sculpt, I hope that Hasbro works on an Airborne Trooper 6″ figure from Episode III. I’m surprised we don’t have that character or the Galactic Marine yet. A mix of mostly old and a little bit new, the Purge Stormtrooper borrows from the past while keeping things fresh for the new era of Star Wars. Check out the gallery now.!

The Hollywood Reporter has released an interesting article about the correlation between YouTube trailer views and box office success on opening weekend. Independent tracking website “Box Office Reports” analyzed data for 421 movies released in the US since 2017 and the Hollywood Reporter looks at the findings in the article.
And according to the findings YouTube trailer views are a good, but not perfect gauge for box office success on opening weekend. The correlation between the trailer views and opening weekend box office is 0.86, which means there is a significant positive correlation between YouTube trailer views and box office (with 0 meaning there is no correlation at all and 1 meaning it’s a perfect positive correlation, 0.86 is a very high correlation). Now the interesting question is: what does that mean for Rise of Skywalker? Trailer views for the movie are rather low. Click through for more!

Hot Toys has taken to Facebook once again to show off their upcoming Sixth scale releases for The Rise of Skywalker. Rey & D-O Set and Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. Although we don’t get a look at what comes with Kylo Ren just yet, Rey comes with a bevy of nice accessories including her new training mask. It looks as if Hasbro may have tricked Disney into letting them make a Yoda (Force Spirit) 6″ figure by referencing it as a character from The Last Jedi as evidenced by the name on the case assortment box. And it is….The Purge Trooper? That’s right. The mysterious figure from the “?” covered image on Gamestop’s website is actually just a Purge Trooper. Many speculated that since the Purge Trooper was already revealed as a Gamestop Exclusive that it wouldn’t make sense for it to be the mystery figure, but unfortunately I was told this wasn’t the case as the employee opened the box in front of me. The good news? Your local GameStop likely has a few in stock since the box my store opened contained 12 and only 2 were pre-orders. So if you need it, nows the time to hit up your GameStop! If you pre-ordered the bundle online and get a different figure, let us know. Now excuse me while I go off to play Fallen Order for 20 hours straight!

Han Solo (In Trench Coat) • Return Of The Jedi • 1984

If you’re looking for the latest Walmart exclusives, be sure to check the entertainment section of the store (the area with games, Blu-rays, and televisions). Just today, I found The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ Yoda (Force Spirit) and Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight), the latest wave of the “solid gold” figures, and the TVC Luke Skywalker (Yavin) figure.

Now that the Mandalorian has aired its first episode fans are already talking about what action figures they want. Action figures we will probably either never get or only get months and months later. But let’s not talk about action figures, let’s talk about something that took most fans by surprise and what most fans apparently find most adorable. And to protect those who had no chance to see the show yet, you have to click through to know what I am talking about!

B-Wing Pilot • Return Of The Jedi • 1984

Today not only saw the debut of Disney+ in North America and a few selected other countries, today also saw the release of the highly anticipated first-ever Star Wars live-action series: The Mandalorian. I wrote a very spoilery review which you can read by clicking on the banner below. But maybe a few of you don’t want to read a spoiler review and for you, I have a few general thoughts: go watch the show! It’s the best thing in a long time, it’s like A New Hope, Rogue One and Solo, it’s your Boba Fett daydream come true, even if the character is not Boba Fett. This series is extremely well made, has a very, very, very interesting premise, and that final scene will be talked about for days and maybe even weeks. This show was made for longtime fans. Everyone can certainly enjoy it, but longtime fans will certainly love every second. So what are you waiting for? If you haven’t watched the episode yet, do it now. That’s right! After all the rumors of 4k versions of the entire saga coming for quite some time now, Disney+ shows up and says “SURPRISE!” The entire Star Wars saga (minus Solo and The Last Jedi which are licensed out currently) are available in 4k and also apparently with Dolby Atmos. I know where I’ll be for the next 24 hours, how about you? Now, we can only hold out hope that when they come to Blu-Ray we get our fabled theatrical releases as well. Four new drawings by Black Series artist Gregory Titus have appeared on Facebook earlier tonight. They show Crait Luke, Zeb, Jar Jar and a clone that might by Commander Bly. Now all of four of these figures were heavily rumored before, Zeb was virtually confirmed by Hasbro, and Crait Luke is all but guaranteed, two more prequel characters would make sense with The Clone Wars returning for a final season and Hasbro revealed quite a few prequel characters only recently. But Titus also created some art for Hammerhead who hasn’t seen a release yet, so apply the usual grains of salt. But my feeling is that we will get all four of these figures in 2020. Thanks to Matthew Cohen for the alert!

People who collect Black Series figures probably encountered the following issue at least once… now how do I put together that accessory or where and how do I store it on the figure? Latest example is Cara Dune, it seems quite a few collectors were puzzled about where to put Cara’s knife. There is a small hole in her left boot into which you can sheathe it.
Maybe this is something that never bothers you, because you figure these things out right away. But maybe you are someone who sometimes misses these details. Is it obvious that Kylo Ren’s hood down piece can be removed so that you can put the hood up option on his head? Will all collectors find out on their own that you can remove C-3PO’s back of the head for Babu Frik to hack him? So the question is: do some figures need leaflets?
