HURRY! The Walmart Exclusive Retro Collection The Empire Strikes Back figures are available for pre-order at Walmart online!

UPDATE: Boba Fett & Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) are both out of stock. The other 4 are still available. 

Gamestop will get yet another “Gaming Greats” Black Series figure. This time it is a Stormtrooper Commander from Force Unleashed with some battle damage and blue deco. Which means this is a legends figure, technically speaking. The photo was posted on Reddit, the figure should be available in North America very soon. Canada has a confirmed release date of March 1st! The US will probably not be far behind and other territories will certainly get the figure as well.
Hasbro is really making the most of their Original Trilogy Stormtrooper sculpt. Will you add this latest paint variant to your collection? Do you think more Force Unleashed figures may follow? What about a 6 inch scale Starkiller figure? And: why did Hasbro not reveal this figure at toy fair when the release is imminent? Thanks to “Cadesky” for the alert!

Even though the following news is not directly related to Star Wars I suppose most Star Wars fans are also huge fans of Indiana Jones. A fifth movie is scheduled to be released in summer 2021, but earlier tonight Variety broke the news that Steven Spielberg has decided to no longer direct the movie, he will stay on as a producer, however. And while the reasons for Spielberg’s leaving have certainly nothing at all in common with the usual Lucasfilm Star Wars shenanigans, it’s still somewhat perplexing to see how almost no Lucasfilm production can stay out of trouble. Indiana Jones already has a troubled production with various delays. Variety also reports that Indy 5 still has some script issues, two months before filming is supposed to begin. Where have we heard that before… Solo writer Jonathan Kasdan is attached to the project at the moment, he took over from David Koepp who wrote the script for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. George Lucas has no involvement with Indy 5. Harrison Ford will still star as Indiana Jones. According to Variety Logan director James Mangold is in talks to direct the movie, but there has been no actual confirmation yet.
James Mangold was originally meant to direct the cancelled Boba Fett movie, he will direct a season 2 episode of The Mandalorian, so Lucasfilm is still on good terms with him. His latest movie is Ford v Ferrari, which was positively received by audiences. Let’s hope Mangold will stay with the movie all the way through to the end if he’s hired and that Indy 5 will be a proper send off for the adventurer portrayed by Harrison Ford.

The next two cards from the weekly Topps Star Wars Living Set are now out, and what a great pairing! Not only does Carrie Fisher get card number 77, but she also gets paired with her daughter’s character. Featuring the iconic blue starfield and the impressive artwork of Kris Penix, check out Princess Leia (#77) and Lieutenant Connix (#78). Hasbro released a video about the brand new Black Series Snowspeeder on Hasbro Pulse. Patrick and Eric introduce us to the Snowspeeder, they talk a bit about the approach they took when the vehicle was designed and what features it has. It’s a 4 minute video that may whet your appetite for the awesome Snowspeeder some more! You have to go to Hasbro Pulse to watch the video.

Bob Iger steps down as CEO effective immediately, he will be an executive chairmain through 2021. Bob Chapek, who used to oversee the Disney parks, will be the new CEO of Disney.

Not much else is known at the moment, we will update this article once more details emerge.

So there was an “event” of sorts with a bunch of the authors involved in Project Luminous tonight and with very little fanfare. StarWars.com has shared some of the details regarding the High Republic and the new books. There is also a little video that pretty much sums up what it’s all about so take a look. But very quickly and to the point, the Jedi of this period are “like the knights of the round table” and the threat is coming from the borders of the republic with the main threat known as the Nihil (pronounced Nile) who are like space Vikings. What do the Jedi fear most? Losing the light! To see the video, some concept art, and a few new book covers be sure to click through!

As we wait for the first official news of Project Luminous tonight (supposedly), we got our first look at where we will be heading. Charles Soule, writer of many of the best modern Star Wars comics, will deliver his first full Star Wars novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi. There are also some other as-of-yet untitled Project Luminous titles listed on the Random House site, but this cover has gotten me pretty excited. Hopefully, this announcement will give us some amazing new content to look forward to. As a fan of the comics and novels, I’m personally excited to read a Charles Soule novel about a completely new era in Star Wars history, but I am also anxious to see where this goes in film/tv. Are you looking forward to moving outside of the Skywalker Saga? Let us know!

Hey Hasbro! Your art department has some work to do on the upcoming The ViIntage Collection Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) figure. (Thank you for releasing this long-awaited figure by the way.) While we received this card art on the first edition Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) figure from 2010, it’s nice to see everything corrected and in place for this ultimate release. However, there is ONE major error we’re hoping you can fix to help authenticate the original vintage Kenner release from 1983. To our readers, by comparing the thumbnail images below, can you see what differs between the two of them? If not, click through for the answer!

I just came across the cover for this children’s book by author Jeffrey Brown! It was released in August 2019 and you can get it on Amazon (it has a 5 star rating!). Something about the cover makes me laugh… so I wanted to share it with you.

I wonder what the intended message is…. at least everyone seems to be happy! But is it fair that Poe seems to carry most of the weight?

Last Friday Hasbro presented their Q4 and full year 2019 numbers. Previously, I showed you several detailed charts. But since almost nothing can be deduced about the performance of Star Wars it makes little sense to dwell on the numbers all that much. So I will only briefly touch upon the numbers in the article and include two charts! More interesting are the statements by Hasbro, and here mainly by Brian Goldner, made in the earnings conference call with analysts. So what does Hasbro has to say about Star Wars? While NY Toy Fair was gut-wrenching and devastating to most, the announcement of the Lars homestead EG-6 Power Droid was such incredible news for me. I was so excited it was confirmed (it’s been hinted by my sources for over a year and a half now), that I didn’t care that Hasbro phoned it in for the rest of The Vintage Collection reveals. We’ve posted nearly half a dozen front-page articles whining and moaning how Hasbro has NEVER updated the vintage Kenner Power Droid figure in the modern line. It only took them years, but I could not be happier that the modern definitive modern update to the vintage Kenner Power Droid is finally here. (Be prepared for more whining and moaning for the few others yet to be made too in the near future.) (more….)

You’d think that after 25 years of owning the license rights to the Star Wars toy line that Hasbro would know characters like the Imperial Stormtroopers and Boba Fett need to be produced at extremely higher numbers than say, oh Lando Calrissian and Han Solo (Hoth). Hasbro/Walmart – the Retro Collection Boba Fett sold out in moments and everyone is mad and frustrated that we’re going through this once again. Please get Boba Fett solid case assortments made, and get this highly-requested and wanted action figure in stock again ASAP! This isn’t an issue with limiting quantities. Everyone should be able to order as many as he or she wants.

Following the rather lackluster Toy Fair presentation one has to wonder what Hasbro’s strategy for Star Wars is, now that the license has been extended for a new multi-year deal. With the Mandalorian still fresh on people’s minds, Baby Yoda still very popular and a brand new season of The Clone Wars airing on Disney+ right now one would think that Hasbro would focus much of its efforts on supporting the two new shows. Especially given that fact that The Mandalorian has proven to be extremely popular with most collectors. But instead we got (almost) nothing for either of the two shows. So what is Hasbro’s strategy? Well, I’m not sure why I was expecting to see Mandalorian and Clone Wars merchandise this Toy Fair. It’s not like The Mandalorian was the number one tv show when it aired, and fans haven’t been greatly anticipating the return of The Clone Wars for nearly a year now. After the three hour long Marvel Legends presentation that showed off what felt like 10,000,000 new figures the Star Wars team took the stage. And while many Star Wars collectors will probably feel let down by the scarcity of actual new things we didn’t know about already, Hasbro did show off at least a few nice things for The Black Series! It turns out there is one more vehicle coming to the all new Star Wars: Mission Fleet toyline. The official reveal on io9 the other day didn’t mention one very important vehicle, but Hasbro released press photos of it earlier today. There will also be a Millennium Falcon Mission Fleet vehicle with Han Solo figure. The cockpit opens and Han can sit inside of it. You can also open up the back to reveal the holochess table and enough space to have two figures sit down (however, they don’t sit around the holochess table). As with all the other Mission Fleet sets you also get some kind of minigun that fires projectiles, it can be mounted on a small treadspeeder, both parts can also be attached to the Millennium Falcon.

New to the Star Wars Authentics site – Episodic photos from Chapter 5 of The Mandalorian. You can see the full Mandalorian photo collection here which now features over 350 images.

Yesterday the all new Amazon exclusive LEGO Razorcrest set was announced. It will retail for $129.99, on Amazon (it will also be available from LEGO directly). Release date is September 1st, 2020. The set has 1,023 pieces and comes with several minifigs: The Mandalorian, an exclusive Baby Yoda, IG-11, Greef Carga and a Remnant Scout Trooper. The Razorcrest has at least one all new part, the cockpit piece. Will you add the LEGO Razorcrest to your collection?

The Retro collection will return in 2020! Earlier today Hasbro released images for the upcoming Hoth Ice Planet Adventure Game! The board game comes with a new Luke Skywaper Snowspeeder Pilot figure on Retro cardback! Click through for a few more photos!

Keep an eye on the pre-orders page over at Entertainment Earth starting right now, as they are starting to add pre-orders for all of the newly announced Toy Fair reveals. You can check out Funko pre-orders here, and Hasbro pre-orders here. They will continue to add items to these pages as they are revealed.

The wait is finally over, after months and months of speculation Hasbro and Disney finally announced that both companies will extend their partnership and that Hasbro will continue to make toys for both Star Wars and Marvel! This is a multi-year deal and covers both theatrical releases and shows on Disney+!

Not much else is known at the moment, i.e. how much was paid, if royalty rates are more reasonable now or when the new agreement will expire. We will update this article once we learn more!

What are your thoughts now? Are you happy that Hasbro will keep making Star Wars toys (and Marvel Legends, of course)? In my opinion Hasbro was and is still the best partner for Disney. Leave your own thoughts in the comments!

Coming soon to Star Wars Authentics – Official photos from Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7! The final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars begins tomorrow, Friday 2/21 with the first episode of ‘The Bad Batch’ arc.

On Monday 2/24 Star Wars Authentics will have official photos from this episode live on the site. In the meantime, here’s one preview image – a promo photo of Ahsoka which was included for Disney’s media guests at New York Toyfair earlier today.

In what almost feels like Groundhog Day, website Geeks WorldWide broke the exclusive story yesterday that filming for the Cassian Andor Disney+ series will be pushed back several months. Tony Gilroy was hired a while ago to fix script issues and to direct several episodes. But now new script issues have surfaced and the filming date has been pushed back as result of that. Filming was to begin in June, no new date is known. However, only recently Diego Luna confirmed that filming will begin in 2020. One has to wonder why only The Mandalorian doesn’t seem to suffer from any production issues at all, while both Kenobi and Cassian Andor are plagued by script issues and delays.

We have a sneak peek for you on the next wave of The Vintage Collection. Check out Cara Dune (VC164), The Mandalorian (VC166) and the Remnant Stormtrooper (VC165). This is one solid wave, and one of Hasbro’s finest in a VERY long time. Cara Dune is excellent. She looks a little bit too much like Mandy Moore, but you probably won’t care. She comes with the dagger, but it’s permanently attached to her boot unfortunately. The Mandalorian is another excellent release. The paint operations look off in a few spots, but again, you need to have a discriminating eye to see the issues. The Remnant Stormtrooper is what it is, and that’s an excellent new version of the Rogue One Imperial Stormtrooper. Hasbro went cheap on the deco on the figure’s posterior. They should have pulled out all the stops and made the figure as filthy as possible. All figures come with 30 points of articulation. Nipping at the heels of our positive article on the Sequel Trilogy, I’d thought I’d share an astounding custom figure of Emperor Palpatine by my respected good friend Josh Makison. I want one of these. Look at this stunning work!

As someone who, in my strong opinion, was justifiably critical of the Sequel Trilogy, I had zero hopes or expectations for The Rise Of Skywalker. ZERO! However, the last thing I ever expected was to like the film. A LOT. Let’s face some basic facts. The Sequel Trilogy went the wrong way for Star Wars. (more….)

It’s fantastic some Walmart stores are getting the latest TVC figures. But it’s been over a month now, and TARGET hasn’t received a blessed restock of TVC figures in about eight of the ten TARGET stores in my area. What DOES arrive in stores and sit are the latest The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ figures. The same figures haven’t been touched by 6″ collectors. Why? Online? What’s the excuse? Hasbro: Stores, well, the ones that decided to still carry TVC mind you, are SCREAMING for more figures. Why is it so difficult to fill the pegs? For the record, in the Star Wars aisle at this particular TARGET in Princeton NJ there are seven TVC Snokes rotting. (The image below shows the end cap.)

Hasbro Pulse revealed on Facebook that the upcoming Black Series Zorii Bliss action figure comes with a special feature: you can actually remove the visor to reveal Zorii’s eyes behind the mask! Now the question is if Hasbro sculpted more of the face or just the eyes and part of the nose. I suppose someone will certainly destroy the helmet of their Zorii Bliss figure to find out. Blu-Ray.com has an entry for the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker 4k Blu-Ray that also reveals the cover. It’s a re-use of the exclusive Dolby Cinema poster, so it’s nothing new. A lone X-Wing is facing off a fleet of Final Order Star Destroyers. The release date of the Blu-Ray is still unknown. Will you add The Rise of Skywalker Blu-Ray to your Star Wars movie collection? Or will you wait until the movie is on Disney+? What do you think of the cover?

Are you tired of seeing the same boring figures get repackaged in TVC? We feel the same as well. With all the “repackaging” happening in The Vintage Collection, I thought about one item that Hasbro should ‘probably consider’ re-releasing. Because it’s the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, would it be the perfect time to get this beautiful vehicle out again, perhaps with improved paint operations. Heck, they could charge more for it and add electronic lights and sounds, and that would make it a worthwhile repurchase for me! Hasbro’s made sure to get out solid cases of Boba Fett recently, so they have plenty of the pilots out there to steer this ship! They’d only need to get out a new Lando Calrissian, Lobot and new Cloud City Wing Guards to make its re-release perfect!

With encouraging new store reports of the latest The Vintage Collection figure found, I have to say it’s a bit depressing to check out the Walmart stores where I live. They’ve completely given up on Star Wars.

In less than two weeks the Toy Fair in New York will be upon us! Hasbro has an event planned, of course. As you can see in the teaser image below Hasbro plans on revealing new toys for several brands, including the all new Ghostbusters toyline. But what do you expect for Star Wars? It’s baffling how The Vintage Collection Imperial Troop Transport is on its way to some collectors’ homes as we speak, and yet nearly everyone is STILL waiting on The Vintage Collection Rogue One Imperial Stormtrooper figures to populate it. Arrival dates get pushed to the next month once we reach the end of the current month. And not too many people know what’s going on with it. Hasbro, we warned you the moment this figure was announced to produce it like you had no other figure to produce. But as usual, you don’t listen. If those pre-orders are limited or canceled, get ready for a backlash you’ve never seen to date. Oh, and before you say “Remnant Stormtroopers” are on the way, then you don’t understand why longtime collectors want the clean white Imperial Stormtroopers first and foremost.

The script for Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX has finally appeared online! It was leaked a while ago, but until now fans had no access to the script itself and had to rely on other people summarizing it. But earlier today a Twitter user posted a link to a file hoster that will allow you to download the full script! I downloaded the script and checked it, it seems legit. It’s the version from December 16, 2016, shortly before Carrie Fisher passed away. I cannot post a link here, but I will point you to the Tweet that will give you the download link. Just click here to go to the Tweet! You’d better hurry if you want to read it before Lucasfilm has the link removed!

The Black Series 6″ “White Box” figures to support the release for The Rise Of Skywalker appear to have been canceled. Entertainment Earth, who was taking pre-orders for the chase figures, is now sending out emails to those who pre-ordered, alerting them that Hasbro has canceled the case assortment. Disney presented their Q1/2020 earnings yesterday (their Q1 is the fourth quarter of 2019). I will not dwell on the numbers, instead I want to talk about what Disney had to say about Star Wars. Bob Iger didn’t reveal all that much, but a few interesting details were mentioned in their report and earnings call, including plans for The Mandalorian. Click through for more!

I found this to be a bit humorous. Maybe you will too, or maybe you won’t. While periodically looking on Amazon for a Luke Skywalker (Crait) figure (since they sent me a destroyed one that arrived months ago), I was shocked to see what the aftermarket price is on this canceled figure. Currently, it’s over $60.00. That’s obviously not the humorous part. What is humorous, however, is the “alternate” lower-priced figure Amazon recommended instead in the top left corner. Click the image below and see it for yourself. I mean, I know it’s a “silver anniversary” figure and everything, but come on Amazon! I am not necessarily looking for a lower-priced figure, I am looking for this figure at MSRP! How irritating is it to deal with Hasbro’s inability to get the appropriate stock to their retail partners, without it going to ROSS, Ollie’s, or TJ Maxx first?
