We talked about the original plans for Galaxy’s Edge a few months ago. Back then it was reported that the Star Wars theme park was to be about the Original Trilogy, and that Bob Iger changed his mind when The Force Awakens was released, when he saw first footage. Now it turns out that this is not the whole story. Former Walt Disney World Vice President Dan Cockerell was a guest on the WDW Radio podcast and there he talked about how events unfolded. And it turns out that the reports from a few months back left out one important detail: a meeting Bob Iger had with Kathleen Kennedy. Click through for more!
We’re rapidly approaching the final month of RDRs! But before starting off May, let’s end April with some of the BEST EXCLUSIVES Hasbro has ever produced. We’re continuing with 2001’s Power Of The Jedi Speeder Bike (With Luke Skywalker) Action Collection TARGET exclusive. It’s incredible and has the best Luke Skywalker figure packed in with it! The Speeder Bike is HUGE and entirely delightful too! See more in our Research Droids Reviews today! It’s now been confirmed that the upcoming Mafex Beskar armor Mandalorian action figure will not come with a jetpack. However, the figure comes with Baby Yoda aka “The Child” instead. Check out the photo of the figure below (make sure to view the larger version). You can see here where the Mafex figure excels, extremely lifelike and fluid posing is possible, helped by the fact that the proportions are perfect. This is the figure you need if you want a true to life 1/12 scale Mandalorian! Click through for one more photo!
Disney has angered many Twitter users with a recent tweet explaining that any May The Fourth content you post is “theirs.” “By sharing your message with us using #MayThe4th, you agree to our use of the message and your account name in all media and our terms of use here: http://disneytermsofuse.com,” it said. The terms of use then go on to state the company can use your user-generated content “royalty-free,” and virtually without any limit. As you know, Twitter makes it abundantly clear that your content is your content. Whether this disclaimer has any true impact is yet to be seen. But there is palpable outrage if you check Twitter. PC Mag has the full story.
This week’s edition of TRT is purposely posted late because I had a package just delivered and I wanted to share it so bad I took the time to take it out for a small photo shoot. I also finished a custom Captain Vaughn from last week’s Clone Wars episode! Click here to check out the photos from this last week in Star Wars.
We’re rapidly approaching the final month of RDRs! But before start off May, let’s end April with three of the BEST EXCLUSIVES Hasbro has ever produced. Most fans will have seen the latest episode of The Clone Wars by now. The perfect time to talk about “The Phantom Apprentice”. In many ways the current arc is a compendium piece to “Revenge of the Sith”, with events in the series unfolding concurrently. And in the latest episode Ahsoka learns the truth. About everything. So what does she do? Click through for the spoiler discussion of “The Phantom Apprentice” by clicking here or on the banner below!
My parents are gearing up to head south to their new home in the coming week. And they cleared out the stuff they held onto for almost four decades. I had to share one of the gems I found in my newly delivered “care” package from Mom and Dad.
Book reports were a monthly thing in my elementary school district. I imagine it was the same for you too. Teachers discouraged us from doing book reports on films for obvious reasons. But I begged my 4th-grade teacher Ms. Rucki to allow me to do one on “Return Of The Jedi,” She relented.
Because of her grace, I decided to do everything I could to make the best book report cover and the content inside. I remember analyzing every nook and cranny of the cover of the paperback to make as faithful a recreation as possible. In retrospect, I must say I am still proud of the grade I got! I thought this book report ended up in a dumpster somewhere. It was a huge surprise to receive it today in the mail.
If you have anything “artsy” from your childhood, feel free to post it in the comments for a nostalgic discussion of “growing up Star Wars.”

Now that’s a surprise. Mafex haven’t released or announced a Star Wars action figure in ages. But now their version of The Mandalorian action figure has leaked. The reveal is a quick photo of some magazine page, and in true leaker fashion a potato camera was used, oblique angle as well, I tried my best to make the photo somewhat better. Based on the leaked magazine it could very well be that Mafex knocked it out of the park once again. Their Boba Fett action figures (both TESB and ROTJ) are the best you can get, and it seems the Mandalorian may continue that tradition. Not much else is known at the moment. It’s also unknown if Baby Yoda aka The Child will come with the figure. Baby Yoda is shown, he’s appropriately tiny as well, but in the photo with the accessories Baby Yoda is missing. Price for the Mandalorian could be 8900 Yen (based on what is barely legible in the photo of the magazine page) – which is ca $83 / 77 Euros – which is in line with previous figures. We’ll keep you posted! Click through for a few more photos of the figure, inckuding a shot with Baby Yoda and a comparison with the SHF version!

The Star Wars YouTube channel has released an all new trailer for the upcoming behind the scenes documentary show about The Mandalorian! The Mandalorian uses some groundbreaking new tech that may and most likely will revolutionize the way movies and tv shows are made. Interactive LED panels with in camera virtual sets are used to realize most of the shots. And things you thought were shot on location are instead shot in that “LED wall” cage, which also makes for some very natural looking lighting on set. You can see some of that in the trailer! Anyone who’s remotely interested in how The Mandalorian was made should definitely check out the series once it’s released on May 4th. You can watch the trailer by clicking on the image below!
Variety has an exlusive report about an all new Star Wars series for Disney+! According to Variety’s sources the show will be a female-focused series in a new, yet unexplored timeline. Some people think that means “alternate timeline”, as in “alternate universe”, which is most certainly wrong, it merely means that an unexplored section of the timeline will be the setting for the show. Not much else is known. Showrunner is supposed to be Leslye Headland, who is co-creator and showrunner for the Netflix Show “Russian Doll”, which has been generally well received.
One thing that is more or less certain is the fact that the characters will probably be all new original creations, thus, it won’t be a Dr Aphra or Ahsoka series, unless the “new timeline” premise turns out to be wrong.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited for more Star Wars to come? Another thing is if Leslye Headland will still be showrunner for the yet untitled show in a year from now, considering Lucasfilm’s track record. There has been no official confirmation yet, but Variety usually has reliable sources.

Good news everyone! Variety has learned that work on season 3 of The Mandalorian is already underway. In their exclusive report Variety says that Jon Favreau has been writing season 3 scripts for a while now and that the art department under the supervision of Doug Chiang has been creating season 3 concept art for the past few weeks! The Mandalorian is one of the lucky shows that wrapped season 2 production before the current pandemic threw a spanner into the works of many other tv and movie productions. Season 2 will air its first episode in October. And with production on season 3 already beginning there’s good hope that the show will return again in 2021.

In our review of the Retro Collection Lando Calrissian figure today, we mentioned that Hasbro cast the Bespin blaster in “black” plastic for the first time for this modern release. But thanks to the Imperial Gunnery Forum, we’ve just learned that a rare Lily Ledy version of Han Solo (In Trench Coat) comes with a “black” Bespin blaster. The more you know…. Those of you who ordered the Retro Collection online through Walmart’s website will have to wait “an unknown amount of time” before you see your orders fulfilled. JTA has learned that stock has been delayed because of the pandemic, and it will take some time before Walmart online can fill them. Please note, Retro Collection figures arriving in filled displays at some Walmart stores are part of a separate inventory and not part of the online stock units. It’s suggested to leave your orders in their current pre-ordered status as the expectation remains that they will eventually be filled and shipped out to collectors. Currently, there is no impact on The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary 6″ figures. And the effect on new The Vintage Collection figures remains unknown. We will continue to follow this developing story, and provide updates as they become available. In the meantime, check out the complete wave of The Empire Strikes Back figures RIGHT HERE.

Ever since the release of the Sequel Trilogy, there has been online debate to whom the Chosen One title belongs to in the Star Wars saga, and if it has changed throughout the years. We kid you not. The Electronic Battling Jango Fett is probably one of the greatest action figure interpretations of the character ever created. The hybrid cardboard playsets might not have been the most popular, but clearing out for $11.99 is not bad for some diorama material, a pack-in figure, and accessories. Currently available at Walmart.com.
I really didn’t want to complain about much of anything Star Wars collecting related, because there is too much going on in the world that’s inimitably more important. But hopefully, this won’t be interpreted more than an important suggestion to prevent the situation from becoming Hasbro’s siren’s song of doom.
The Retro Collection Boba Fett has just begun hitting retail, and the aftermarket on them is hideous. They sold out in split seconds at Walmart. Yet, no one important seems to be paying attention to this at Hasbro. Well, here is your fair warning to get more produced. Hasbro – here is a reality check for you. I hope that you’re producing SOLID CASE PACKS of Boba Fett from the Retro Collection so 3.75″ enthusiasts can buy anywhere from 5-10 case packs of these when they become available through the Fan Channel. Please don’t disappoint us, and please kill the aftermarket now. You’ve made so many mistakes with the 3.75″ line, please heed our advice and don’t let this important decision slip through your fingers too. Thank you!

The Electronic Battling Obi-Wan Kenobi is a heck of a lot of fun. And it has a fantastic likeness. We wish Hasbro approached the standard 12 Inch Figures line as they did for this novelty line of figures. Even the added electronics are fun here. See more Research Droids Reviews today! Perhaps you already know that Bob Iger announced his (most likely temporary) return as quasi CEO of Disney last Sunday, he’s taking over again from Bob Chapek so he can steer Disney through very stormy waters. But Bob Iger’s return is not what I want to focus on. I want to talk about Disney’s current situation and how and if it might affect their future. So please click through for a discussion!
Hello my fellow toy runners! It’s been quite a week! I have some exciting new things to share with you, including some custom Star Wars pieces my wife made! I also was able to make a great score via Facebook Marketplace, and picked up one of Hasbro’s best vehicles locally. Please click here to check out some photos of this past week in Star Wars!
The Revenge Of The Sith Darth Sidious 12 Inch Figure is FAR from perfection. You may even think the head sculpt is atrocious. BUT! The figure is not without merit. TRIVIA FACT: It’s the only figure called “Darth Sidious” in the entire Revenge Of The Sith line. See why we still have affection for this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today! JTA reader Jason S. stopped by his local TARGET and found The Black Series [The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary] wave 1 but was denied the purchase. The store clerk told them they have a street date of August 1st. If you also find this wave in your local store, please let us know if you are told the same thing about August 1st being the release date. That feels pointless to me.
JTA Reader Mark found Count Dooku, Clone Commander Bly, and Zorii Bliss at his local Walmart in Sarasota, Florida. Let us know in the comments if these are showing up in your area!
Please see the attached photos. While I was scavenging for hard to find supplies today I came across what appeared to be a new case of TBS figures at a Walmart in Sarasota, Florida. I snapped up a Dooku and a Bly and left the rest. I was actually more shocked to find these figures than the Lysol wipes. The SKU’s on the receipt are 063050990291 and 063050990296. Not sure which one matches which. Hope this helps. Stay safe out there.

The Walmart exclusive First Order Stormtrooper Executioner 12-Inch Figure didn’t make it to most Walmart brick and mortar locations. According to “The Direct” website actress Rosario Dawson, who was recently revealed to portray Ahsoka Tano in the second season of The Mandalorian, has a multi-show deal with Disney+. This could mean that besides the appearance of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian and a possible Ahsoka / Rebels spin off, she could also make appearances in other Star Wars series. Since Ahsoka has been around for quite some time, she could, in theory, appear also in the Cassian Andor series and Kenobi. Now, it’s not confirmed she will appear in any of these series, but a multi-show deal certainly opens up the possibilties for that. Would you like for Cassian or Obi-Wan to meet Ahsoka? Especially Obi-Wan’s encounter may be interesting, since the two have a long history together.
Rosario is no stranger to multi-show deals, her Marvel character Claire Temple appeared on various Netflix Marvel shows. So how do you feel about the prospect of getting a lot more live action Ahsoka?
Do you believe Hasbro reissued the Captain Phasma 12-Inch Figure in Star Wars [Solo] line as a Walmart exclusive?
