The updated Ahsoka Tano figure is beautiful. We’ll let the pictures in our Photo Gallery tell the full story! (more….)
Our Research Droids intercepted one of the most disconcerting images we’ve seen in a LONG TIME. The Vintage Collection collectors are sick of the way Hasbro is treating the brand. We’re exhausted never finding any new figures on the shelves. We become ill over role-playing items and kids’ lines reaching store shelves without a hitch as they sit and collect dust the entire season, yet the collector-focused 3.75″ line rarely makes an appearance. We’re defeated when we see figures arrive at discount outlets when they never hit retail for a chance to sell at the standard MSRP. And now? Well, we have a picture of Ollie’s ad for this week. And right in the center of the advertisement is one of the hardest-to-find TVC “2.0” figures and one of the most expensive on the aftermarket. Click the thumbnail image below, and make sure you’re sitting down, or have a barf bag, or some medication close by. (more….)

You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now we’re finishing up revisiting the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. We’ve reached the final figure. Princess Leia Organa (In Combat Poncho) was good in 2007 but needs a redo in 2020. We updated the figure in our newly updated review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.
How did you make out at TARGET with the Galaxy’s Edge exclusives? Some have commented already that the Droid Depot 3.75″ figures were the hardest to find. Let us know and show your pictures in the comments!
We should have fallen in love with Admiral Ackbar, but we didn’t. It has a near-perfect sculpt, but the articulation is wonky, and the deco is off. Hasbro brought back that awful “open mouth” feature which means no head movement again. Also, why is the head so much darker than the arms? And the waist articulation makes it difficult to pose the figure. But if you just pose the figure out of the box, you probably won’t care about the issues. (more….)
It’s easy to forget what magnitude of things are wrong with The Vintage Collection when uber-cool items like the BMF are shipping, but don’t lose focus. I typically cannot be bothered with anything on social media, but this post caught my eye. JTA was tagged by blueharvestcollector with a post that asks, “Where’s the TVC scale version?” (of Baby Yoda). The question seems simple, but it’s profound because it speaks volumes. If the absence of a 3.75″ The Child action figure in the line doesn’t scream at you how disengaged Hasbro is to The Vintage Collection; nothing will. For goodness sake, Chia Pet collectors have Baby Yoda before TVC collectors. Doesn’t that embarrass anyone at Hasbro? And before someone says, “maybe the character is to small,” I would draw your attention to 2009’s TLC Captain Typho (BD 47) figure’s communicator accessory. I believe it’s still the tiniest 3.75″ accessory to date. For that matter, the 6″ The Child’s accessories are tiny as well.
Our next Visual Guide update from The Black Series [Phase IV] Star Wars Rebels wave rounds out the Ghost crew for your 6-Inch collection. Click below to check out Chopper (C1-10P) (SWR02). You can also check out our full review right here.
We have some good news to report. JTA readers are getting their TARGET exclusive TVC Galaxy’s Edge TVC Millennium Falcon. And they’re coming in an outer shipper. JTA reader Shaun S. said his item was in perfect condition. I find it particularly charming how Hasbro has labeled this item with the letters “BMF.” This was a collecting-community generated acronym, and it’s stuck.
You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now we’re finishing up revisiting the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. We’ve reached the final wave of figures. Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues) made collectors happy in 2007, but time has not been kind. We updated the figure in our newly updated review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.
There hasn’t been anything at my local Walmart stores in almost a year, but today I found the new The Mandalorian Mandalorian Darksaber. This is the first new anything Hasbro Star Wars since Triple Force Friday at this location.
The President of The Toy Association has officially released a memo saying that NY International Toy Fair in Dallas and New York are officially postponed. Simply put, that means the events are canceled until further notice. This may not be an issue at all moving forward. Hasbro and other companies can Livestream showrooms and presentations as needed now. See the full story HERE.
The Mission Fleet X-Wing Fighter/Luke Skywalker set is another excellent set. Again, not for collectors, but it is still a lot of fun. But “banana-visor” is back, baby! (more….)

You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now we’re finishing up revisiting the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. We’ve reached the final wave of figures. Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) was excellent for the time but has since aged out. How many of you bought this figure by the dozens? We updated the figure in our newly updated review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.

You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now we’re finishing up revisiting the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. We’ve reached the final wave of figures. IG-88 (Bounty Hunter) was released as a permanently definitive action figure as well. It’s timeless, even in 2020. We updated the figure in our newly updated review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.
A D23 email that is going out to club members today is featuring an image that shows a yet unannounced Black Series Star Wars figure. You have to squint a little bit, so I upscaled the photo (make sure to click on it for the full size). You can clearly see a red First Order/Sith Trooper with a cape standing behind the TVC Millennium Falcon. Is that a yet to be revealed all new Black Series figure? It looks like a straight Captain Phasma repaint, yet another exclusive figure maybe? Would you add the red Sith Trooper with cape to your collection? Thanks to reader JP for the alert!
UPDATE: I apparently suffer from amnesia, since the figure in the photo is Captain Cardinal from the tv show Star Wars Resistance and was revealed quite a while ago. I watched each episode of the show, somehow I have a hard time remembering Captain Cardinal, I even forgot about the announcement of his upcoming figure. What did Captain Cardinal do again? Anyway, nothing to see here, move along, move along!
UPDATED UPDATE: there’s a reason I don’t remember seeing Captain Cardinal in Resistance… he’s not in the series, he’s a character in a book. Please excuse me now, I am busy digging a hole I can disappear into.
The Black Series [Phase IV] Chopper (C1-10P) doesn’t look all that different from the original release, but it did receive some different paint operations. See the full group shot of The Ghost crew in this review today! Have you completed your Star Wars Rebels collection yet? (more….)

You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now we’re finishing up revisiting the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. We’ve reached the final wave of figures. Han Solo (Hoth Outfit) was a significant update to the character in 2007. We updated the figure in our newly updated review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.
In 1984, new packaging for Star Wars figures was introduced for the European market. A cost containment initiative, the new packaging sported three languages of the Return Of The Jedi logo for a “one size fits all” approach. Although a “three-logo” design was created for The Power Of The Force line (as evidenced on some ‘boxed’ toys), it wasn’t carried over to the basic figure line’s card design. They continued to use the three Return Of The Jedi logos instead. Although the word “Trilogo” is found nowhere on the packaging, the term is universally adopted by all Star Wars collectors to describe this line of figures.
Today we revisit 2-1B. Too-Onebee (2-1B) received a name change. But more noticeable is the significant orange wash the card art received for the Trilogo card back. The crop of the character is also different. See the full Trilogo card art and additional notes by revisiting 1981’s THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK 2-1B figure HERE.
Holy cow! The Vintage Collection Galaxy’s Edge Millennium Falcon is NOW SHIPPING. JTA reader Jared S. provides the proof!

You saw our The Pathway To The Vintage Collection Special Report published on August 6th. Now we’re revisiting the figures that set The Vintage Collection in motion. Before we start the final wave, let’s look at the novelty figure of 2006. George Lucas (In Stormtrooper Disguise) has charm. We updated the figure in our newly revised review, complete with new text and photos and Visual Guide.
In 1984, new packaging for Star Wars figures was introduced for the European market. Today we revisit Imperial Commander. Imperial Commander has a different color palette than the Kenner figure and the tones are darker See the full Trilogo card art and additional notes by revisiting 1981’s THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Imperial Commander figure HERE.

Today we revisit AT-AT Driver. AT-AT Driver perhaps has the strangest alternate still image than any other Trilogo figure. For reasons unknown, Kenner airbrushed out the figure’s detail below the helmet. There is nothing but a white “blue” shaped to look like chest armor. Again, it’s one of the strangest updates made to a figure’s card art. See the full Trilogo card art and additional notes by revisiting 1981’s THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AT-AT Driver figure HERE.
We are saddened to report the recent death of Casval Tinoco. Casval was an integral part of the Bandai Namco Collectibles (Bluefin) team, makers of the amazing Bandai Star Wars model kits, and Meisho Feudal-Japanese styled action figures. He was also a passionate Star Wars fan. Casval never missed a midnight showing of a Star Wars movie, proudly displayed parts of his Star Wars, Gundam and Back to the Future collection around his desk at work, and took pride in building and customizing the De Agostini Millennium Falcon (among other Star Wars model kits). Please consider making a donation to Casval’s Memorial Fund to help support his family during this difficult time.

Today we revisit Leia (Hoth Outfit). Leia (Hoth Outfit)’s Trilogo card art features an alternate image used nowhere else in the classic toy line. Finding a high-resolution version of it is next to impossible as well. It’s one of the rarest film-out images in the Lucasfilm archives. They also changed the character’s name to Princess Leia Organa (Hoth Outfit). See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1981’s THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Leia (Hoth Outfit) figure HERE.
There are two new reveals for The Black Series! The focus was on 5 POA and TVC today, but Black Series fans will get one figure they have been asking for for a long time and yet another Gaming Greats figure! Click through for more!
A major focus of today’s livestream were the new “Celebrate the Saga” figure packs. These packs will offer highlights from the 5 POA figure line for one last time, Hasbro will put the 5 POA 3.75 in line into the “vault” after that. Hasbro said it doesn’t necessarily mean there will never again be 3.75 in 5 POA figures, but these new sets will be the last thing 5 POA fans will get for a long time.
But Hasbro doesn’t just repack old figures here. To sweeten the deal all 5 POA figures receive photoreal updates (unless it’s a masked character) and some sets also get droids never released in the line before, or for the first time released in a realistic style. Click through to see all the new 5 POA figure sets revealed today!

The latest in Regal Robot’s Maquette line will be Jabba the Hutt. Full details below…
We’ve just announced the latest statue in our Maquette Collection. Much like our Tauntaun Concept Maquette Replica, this sculpture caught my eye in classic 80’s documentaries about the production of Return of the Jedi and I’ve long wanted to bring it to life as a faithful recreation that folks could add to their collection.
It’s a limited, numbered edition based on Phil Tippett’s original concept sculpture used to bring the infamous character to life. The original has been kept at Skywalker Ranch since production and we’re so lucky to get to handle the props and artifacts of these classic films in making our creations. Our replica Jabba was painstakingly digitally recreated from extensive photographs and measurements of that statue. Cast in heavy, solid polyurethane resin and made in the USA, each will be hand-painted, making each a unique tribute to the artistry involved behind the scenes of our favorite films.
Click here for the sneak peek page. This edition will be available to order on August 24th starting at 12 pm Eastern.
So, what do you think Hasbro will reveal tomorrow during Fan First Friday? Will the HasLab be revealed? Will Hasbro announce they’re completing the Kenner 96 in one fell swoop. Are we getting ou long-awaited Death Star? Will they make the Tantive IV? Will we get more cantina aliens and Jabba’s Palace aliens since Hasbro treats them terribly in the modern line? Or will it be another The Black Series 6″ show loaded with everything 3.75″ collectors want in 6″ scale instead?

A while ago we talked about Star Wars toy prices and whether or not collecting is becoming increasingly expensive. Today I look at vintage toy prices from back in the day and then compare them to modern toy prices. Click through to find out!
UPDATE: chart of the consumer price sub index for toys has been added to show you how prices for toys have developed in past decades.

Today we revisit Lobot. Lobot’s Trilogo card art features an alternate image used nowhere else in the classic toy line. Interestingly, Lobot is out of focus in the utilized image. Lando Calrissian (off-screen) is the character in focus in the uncropped film-out. See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1981’s THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Lobot figure HERE.

A rumor is making the rounds that Disney is looking into the possibility of making CGI Star Wars movies and that Mark Hamill has already signed away his digital likeness rights, so that Disney could make an all new Star Wars movie with a CGI Luke Skywalker. I don’t really want to talk about the rumor itself, it does not matter whether that particular rumor is true or not. Because the idea itself, movies with digital actors, will certainly gain traction in Hollywood in coming years. So today I want to talk about your thoughts and feelings about potential future Star Wars movies with digital recreations of original trilogy characters as main characters. In my opinion it’s only a matter of time before we get there. So click through for a discussion!
Hasbro Pulse updates their blog with a history of the various snowspeeder and pilot toys they produced throughout the years. However, they made a big blunder when they reference 2009’s Legacy Collection Luke Skywalker (BD51) figure as the first “snowspeeder pilot” Luke Skywalker action figure. They write “It’s worth mentioning that until 2009, no Luke Skywalker Snowspeeder pilot figure had ever been released. We had Dak Ralter from 2002’s The Power of the Jedi, and Zev Senesca from 2006’s The Saga Collection, but no Luke. This changed with his addition to The Legacy Collection.” No, this is very incorrect. The first version came in 1995 as Luke Skywalker (In X-wing Fighter Pilot Gear). It had the wrong name, but the right outfit. Then they included an updated version of this figure in 2002’s POTJ Luke Skywalker’s Snowspeeder exclusive set. They even mention this release in the blog but neglected to acknowledge the Luke Skywalker figure included with it. Last but not least, Hasbro added a kit-bashed version of Luke Skywalker in the snowspeeder outfit in 2007’s TAC The Battle Of Hoth Ultimate Battle Packs set. (which coincidentally is the only version of Luke Skywalker with correct mismatched orange pants and jacket)! Come on, Hasbro, we’ll gladly proofread your historical accounts for you! See the write up HERE.
Let’s open up a brand new category in our RDRs today! We’ll start The Black Series [Phase IV] 6″ line with the Photo Real version of Ezra Bridger. Hasbro developed a new numbering convention for the new 6″ lineup, and it’s bound to confuse everyone. Are you excited about the color-coding and organizational source focus of TBS6 [P4]? (more….)

To understand The Vintage Collection’s present is to respect its history. If you’re relatively new to collecting, you’ve quickly figured out that The Vintage Collection is Hasbro’s most popular 3.75″ super-articulated basic figure line ever produced. And many collectors will tell that Hasbro no longer treats it with the tender loving care it deserves. (Opinions vary greatly on that sentiment.) However, lovers of this line became saddened when Hasbro temporarily retired the line in 2013 as it paved the way for The Black Series 6″ line. Collectors waited for a grueling half-decade before we saw the line’s return. You already know the rest of that story. But do you know how we got here the first time? Please join us in discovering The Pathway To The Vintage Collection on the 10th Anniversary of the original line launch!

The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ collectors are getting a taste of what happens to a long-running Star Wars line. And they better get used to more! Hasbro has to meet budgets, and in order to meet budgets, reusing existing tooling is a requirement. The “Attack Of The Clones” wave is essentially the first “repack, refreshed, and repaint” wave for the 6″ line. but 3.75″ collectors are used to them. Plo Koon isn’t perfect, but it’s an admirable effort. Will you add one to your collection? (more….)

Wo! The third wave of The Black Series [The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary] has hit retail. JTA reader Mike R. found Boba Fett and Darth Vader. (UPDATE: It appears that these are being found at TARGET stores on the West coast.)
Holy cow. The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ Kit Fisto figure is a complete mess. The head sculpt looks like an amalgamation of the Episode II and Episode III versions of the character, but the deco and details more closely resemble the Revenge Of The Sith likeness. Either way, the figure doesn’t have a robe, comes with the wrong lightsaber hilt, and possesses a litany of other issues. 6″ collectors should demand a recount on this figure. (more….)
