Lucasfilm actor Tom Kane has suffered a serious stroke which left him without the capacity to speak. We wish Tom Kane well and a speedy recovery. Comicbook has the full story.
The TARGET exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Remnant Stormtrooper suffers from the same problems as the TVC version. Will you army-build this character from The Mandalorian? (more….)
JTA reader Mark G. found the TARGET exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Remnant Stormtrooper figure on clearance for $13.99! I haven’t even seen this once yet!
The Amazon exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Speeder Bike/Scout Trooper & The Child is pretty nice in some regards, but a disappointment in others. Is it worth $49.99? (No.) Did we need this set to complete an important scene from The Mandalorian? (Yes.) (more….)
Are you tired of proving your worth to Hasbro, 3.75″ collectors? How is it that we literally “kill” it for The Khetanna and then only get two all-new action figures to populate it? And then we all step up to the plate HUGELY once again for the Razor Crest, only to see Hasbro asleep at the wheel. Why aren’t they banging out 3.75″ action figures for us after that major campaign success? They owe it to us to make us new characters from The Mandalorian for The Vintage Collection. And after two years, how is it that we don’t have some core and behind the scenes characters from The Mandalorian yet? (Would you announce Kuiil already?) While Hasbro is obsessively reusing parts from their older 6″ figures, they’re doing next to nothing to utilize older 3.75″ super-articulated figures that could be revitalized to bring us new characters from The Mandalorian. Oh, and yes, we deserve some all-new tooling as well. (more….)
Today I want to talk about the upcoming Rogue Squadron movie. Scheduled for release in 2023 and helmed by Patty Jenkins. Patty Jenkins made herself a name with Wonder Woman in 2017, which was her first big budget movie (she only had a couple of TV credits before). The sequel to that movie, Wonder Woman 1984, was released a short while ago and let’s say the reception to the movie is very, very mixed. So some people may wonder if Star Wars fans need to be worried about Rogue Squadron. Click through for a discussion!
The latest wave of The Black Series [Phase IV] figures are hitting, and we are taking a close look at the excellent Greef Karga, but not before taking another knock at the Disney Trilogy. It’s another one of Hasbro’s finest figures of the year. (more….)

We wanted to give The Black Series [Phase IV] Jar Jar Binks a perfect score, but unfortunately we cannot. As if the $29.99 MSRP isn’t egregious enough, the figure has a facial expression that’s odd (Jar Jar looks quite glum), and the paint operations aren’t totally right. The figure comes with too few accessories for a “deluxe” figure as well, even though they look great. But there is a great deal of positive here too. (more….)
Hasbro repacked the Darth Vader Galaxy Of Adventures version 5″ figure. It was a wise decision. (more….)

Christmas may have come an gone once again, but we’d like to give you one last opportunity to check out five action figures that celebrated the occasion for 2020 from Hasbro. Check out all five Holiday Edition The Black Series [Phase IV] figures. And be sure to check out the amazing digital artwork of Alientek while you’re there. Here is a recap.
The Amazon exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Speeder Bike/Scout Trooper & The Child recreates an important scene from The Mandalorian. But are the figures that great inside of it? We’re not so sure. Check out a very rough gallery now, and the review is coming soon. The Child figure is a misnomer here. It’s an accessory. See our sneak peek by clicking through!
Merry Christmas! For today’s Visual Guide Update we continue looking at The Black Series Holiday Edition figures. Click below to check out the Range Trooper (Holiday Edition). Make sure to stop by and also check out our full review of this figure right here.
We’re concluding our six-day run of holiday-themed Star Wars collectibles today with The Black Series [Phase IV] Range Trooper (Holiday Edition) figure complete with a version of Ru-D-O-lph. This figure comes with new tooling. The detailed review is the same for all five figures that are part of this assortment, but each character has a unique Photo Gallery. Oh, and be sure to check out the reference image in each review featuring the digital manipulation prowess of JTA reader and friend Alientek You’re going to love them! (more….)
From our family to yours, we hope everyone has a very safe and Merry Christmas! (more….)
The TARGET exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Remnant Stormtrooper is arriving. Our first question is why is this figure exclusive? How can anyone army-build this? Why aren’t solid case packs available for it? It seems impractical to keep releasing so many 6″ figures from The Mandalorian when there are no vehicles or world-building possible with them. But what do we know? See our sneak peek by clicking through!
Happy Holidays! Our The Black Series Holiday Edition Visual Guide updates continue. Today we are adding the Snowtrooper (Holiday Edition) to the guides. Click below for our full Visual Guide page. Click here to check out our full review of this figure.

We’re moving forward with our six-day run of holiday-themed Star Wars collectibles. Today we’re going to look at The Black Series [Phase IV] Clone Trooper (Holiday Edition) figure. Thank you for reading Research Droids Reviews: Season 12!
Check out our sneak peek on the brand new The Black Series [Phase IV] Jar Jar Binks 6″ figure. Hasbro wants you to pay more money for this one, but there is no reason why this figure “as is” should be a penny more than $19.99. If they want to include a boat-load of more accessories, we’ll listen to their argument about a higher MSRP. But right now, something is rotten in Denmark. We digress. Jar Jar Binks is excellent, but some of the paint operations don’t look right. For example, the figure is too dark in spots. The included accessories are nice, and the figure comes loaded with premium articulation, but is it worth what Hasbro is asking for it? You decide. Check it out. The review is coming soon!
Happy Holidays! It’s time to start a little Holiday run of Visual Guide updates starting with The Black Series [Phase IV] Sith Trooper (Holiday Edition). Click below for our full Visual Guide of this figure. Make sure to also visit our full review right here.
Hello again, Toy Runners! It’s that time of the week again and I have a new custom to share with you! First I wanted to remind everyone of the giveaway I posted yesterday. Let’s see your finds and collections from this past week in the comments! Nothing to share? Post about what you’re hoping to get this holiday season! There is always something you can tell us about your week in Star Wars!
In 1984, new packaging for Star Wars figures was introduced for the European market. A cost containment initiative, the new packaging sported three languages of the Return Of The Jedi logo for a “one size fits all” approach. Although a “three-logo” design was created for The Power Of The Force line (as evidenced on some ‘boxed’ toys), it wasn’t carried over to the basic figure line’s card design. They continued to use the three Return Of The Jedi logos instead. Although the word “Trilogo” is found nowhere on the packaging, the term is universally adopted by all Star Wars collectors to describe this line of figures.
We are finishing the Trilogo line up with the final 15 The Power Of The Force Kenner figures, and there weren’t any coins provided with them. Today we revisit Yak Face. The Trilogo version has a darker wash. See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1985’s THE POWER OF THE FORCE Yak Face figure HERE.

I found an article on Polygon today that is humorous in part. While summarizing the new offerings from Hasbro based on The Mandalorian, they reference The Vintage Collection in a funny way. They describe it as “There’s also a sort of junior version of the Black Series called the Vintage Collection, which brings a greater level of detail and articulation to the traditional 3.75-inch scale, at merely 150% of the cost.” It’s almost as if the writer doesn’t understand the history of Star Wars action figures. Then to confuse things, they go on to describe the Retro Collection. Isn’t that the traditional 3.75″ format? Is this a chicken-or-the-egg scenario? Also of interest, the original title of the article was “Star Wars toys and Mandalorian figures aren’t really for kids anymore” which probably put Hasbro in a panic, and they since changed it to “Star Wars toys keep changing, and leaving kids behind.” We’re not sure why that was changed. Anyhow, The Black Series line exists BECAUSE of the traditional 3.75″ scale and The Vintage Collection. It’s not the other way around. Check out the article for yourself. Yay! Aside from a few lucky exceptions, Walmart hasn’t had much when it comes to Star Wars. I just received a string of emails last night cancelling almost all of my pre-orders, from The Black Series 6″ figure, to The Vintage Collection figures. And ALL of my local Walmarts don’t have a blessed thing in years, including their Fall and Winter exclusives. I am tired of asking what’s going on with distribution anymore. But despite it all, the stuff that no one wants enters the stores with relative ease. Oh, and Walmart sure has plenty of stuff like this! Special thanks to friend Russ T. for the image.

It’s the last Mando Monday, and you would expect Hasbro to go out with a bang instead of a fizzle. So many missed opportunities for an amazing reveal or two in TBS or TVC. But alas, here’s today’s pre-orders: two role-play items (albeit pretty awesome ones) and one TVC re-release of a re-release…
Some of you may know that I run a custom figure page on Facebook called John Morog Customs. I post a lot of my custom work on Toy Run Tuesdays here, but don’t advertise my page much since I don’t want to lead our readers away from the site. That being said, I wanted to inform JTA readers that I am running a giveaway on Facebook for anyone interested. This year was a tough one for everybody, and I have been very grateful to our readers and staff for the discussions we have that kind of pull us out of this crazy world for a little while. It may be small, but I wanted to do something to give back to the community! Click through for more info.

Boba Fett Helmet – $119
We’ve waited to post this until the official announcement to avoid spoilers this weekend, but it looks like we have another Disney+ series set in the timeline of The Mandalorian to look forward to next December: Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. The finale of The Mandalorian revealed this in the most awesome way, and since then it’s been speculation on whether this would be the subject matter of The Mandalorian season 3, or an all-new series, and now we have our answer. There’s going to be a lot of Star Wars to look forward to next Christmas!

While there isn’t widespread confirmation on this, we’ve learned from both Wikipedia and Rebelscum that actor Jeremy Bulloch who played the iconic character of Boba Fett died. 2020 cannot be over soon enough! We wish Jeremy’s family love and prayers. He was one of the nicest Star Wars actors we’ve ever known.
UPDATE: Apparently Daniel Logan broke the news on this earlier today on Instagram. TMZ has the full story. And major media outlets are now confirming and posting the story. Mr. Bulloch passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease. “Jeremy also made a couple of cameos without his Boba Fett mask – playing Lieutenant Sheckil in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and Captain Jeremoch Colton in ‘Revenge of the Sith.”

Sorry, Toy Runners! I had my semester final today and in the business and stressing out about a test I passed, I ended up putting this off till late! But it’s still Tuesday here, so I’ll count it. Anyway, I was able to finish up my Bo Katan I’ve been working on. I also got a small lot of figures in the mail and a gift from a fellow JTA reader and Toy Runner local to me. Take a look!
From now through December 20th Brian’s Toys is offering 20% Off your entire order of in-stock items. Click here for details.
Look, this isn’t another dig at “sixers.” So don’t take it that way. But will Hasbro ever throw a bone to TVC collectors? It’s pure frustration. The Vintage Collection cannot catch a break. Retail doesn’t care. Collectors are getting numb again. And it’s obvious that Hasbro certainly doesn’t care. (more….)
You have to wonder what happens during the Hasbro Star Wars planning meetings when you see a debacle of a figure like Captain Rex make the cut for a repack. This figure should have never been re-released. Ever. And how long will Hasbro play dumb about that cancelled phase I Captain Rex figure from 2013? It’s egregious at this point. Just release that dang thing already, Hasbro! (more….)

Holy cow! The Vintage Collection Moff Gideon might be the best-looking human 3.75″ Star Wars action figure of 2020. One thing is for certain. You’re going to need lots of Imperial Death Troopers to go alongside this one. Hasbro should get ceaseless praise for this release. You’re going to love it! It looks exactly like Giancarlo Esposito. Disney announced about 7,562 new Star Wars shows recently. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as more shows are soon to follow. The Babylon Bee have a Star Wars insider (they’re not saying it’s Gina Carano, but it might be Gina Carano). They asked her — or him, or them — what shows have yet to be announced, and they were able to tease these upcoming shows. They sound amazing! Click through for more!
Wow. Not only is the new The Vintage Collection Rogue One Darth Vader awesome, but it’s also built from many existing parts. It’s about 75% old and 25% new. We provided comparison pictures of this new figure against all existing TVC Darth Vader basic action figures so you can see how far Hasbro has come with technology and kit-bashing parts. Hey, did you notice that VC number too? And what about those molded lower robes? (more….)

Today we revisit Amanaman. See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1985’s THE POWER OF THE FORCE Amanaman figure HERE.
I have been searching high and low for the latest wave of The Vintage Collection figures in my area. As expected, there is a blessed sign of them anywhere. At my local Walmart, I couldn’t help but notice multiple cases of the first wave of The Black Series [The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary] wave when I arrived to the toy aisle. (more….)
Say goodbye to having to purchase your cheap loose figures from eBay, because the popular seller of Star Wars toys now has his own website! Tunghori closed shop due to Covid19 for some time. Unfortunately airmail was suspended to several countries, so shipments were taking extra time and he received some negative feedback. I’ve personally purchased several lots from this seller and have received all of them. Now they have created their own website. Take a look as there are some hard to find figures at good prices!

We are finishing the Trilogo line up with the final 15 The Power Of The Force Kenner figures, and there weren’t any coins provided with them. Today we revisit Romba. Do you notice anything strange? The Kenner version of Paploo shows an image of Romba. And the Trilogo version of Romba shows an image of Paploo. (We should also mention that the Trilogo version of Paploo shows Romba as well, but the Kenner POTF Romba shows the correct character.) See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1985’s THE POWER OF THE FORCE Romba figure HERE.
And finally, we have our next official feature film announcement: Rogue Squadron. Coming to theaters in December 2023, and directed by Patty Jenkins.
Unfortunately, this won’t be the Rogue Squadron from the Original Trilogy but will be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
Rogue Squadron will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy.
Also announced today is a new animated Disney+ adventure film: Star Wars: A Droid Story.
This epic journey will introduce us to a new hero guided by R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Probably one of the more intriguing new show announcements is The Acolyte. Not much is known other than this quote:
The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.
It looks like we have some great animated series to look forward to. A new trailer dropped (watch below!) for the recently announced The Bad Batch, and Star Wars Visions was announced. It’s awesome to see that The Bad Batch will be continuing The Clone Wars style of animation!
Star Wars: Visions, an Original Series of animated short films, celebrates the Star Wars galaxy through the lens of the world’s best Japanese anime creators. Coming in 2021 to Disney+.
It looks like the direction they are taking for the pseudo-Solo sequel will be a Lando event series titled, you guessed it…. Lando.
This will be created by Justin Simien, but there was no word on whether or not we will see any of the stars from Solo reprising their respective roles.
The Cassian Andor series has an official title now: Andor. Andor will start streaming in 2022. And, it looks like the Obi-Wan Kenobi officially takes place 10 years after the events in Revenge of the Sith, and Hayden Christensen will be back to reprise his role as Darth Vader! Production begins in March 2021 on Obi-Wan Kenobi
The first two new upcoming live-action series have just been revealed, both taking place during The Mandalorian timeline: Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka.
Both series will be helmed once again by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, and at least 1 of these will drop on Christmas 2021!
Are you following along? Click here for the live stream. They’ve already teased 10 new Star Wars series over the next few years. More detailed information to come towards the end of the live stream.
Here’s another Titanium Series Helmets release. Let’s check out the Black Leader Poe Dameron/FIrst Order TIE Fighter Pilot two-pack. It’s not bad. (more….)

No matter what scale you collect, all collectors agree that Walmart is often problematic for collecting, especially when it comes to exclusives. This latest is example is a bit of a doozy. Take a look at what this collector got instead of his carbonized exclusive. Thanks to Cody S. and others who informed us of this story.
Do you remember the Titanium Series Helmets line? We have to play catch up on them. Here is the Captain Phasma/First Order Stormtrooper set. Yes, we winced deciding to add it into the database as well. (more….)

It doesn’t vary all that much from the Kenner version See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1985’s THE POWER OF THE FORCE Luke Skywalker (In Battle Poncho) figure HERE.
Here’s a nice one! The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary Hoth Wampa 6″ figure is a tremendous update to the original. We have the comparison pictures to prove it. It’s a shame this figure wasn’t released to the general marketplace. It’s that good. (more….)

The Star Wars Toybox Jango Fett figure is rather excellent. It’s one of the finer figures in the line. (more….)
The Star Wars Toybox Darth Maul figure is pretty bad. It doesn’t look like the on-screen character much at all. (more….)

How much do The Black Series [Phase IV] 6″ figures have to be before collectors revolt? It feels like we’re getting close. The Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) & The Child TARGET exclusive is very nice, but it’s not $35 nice! All the newness here is worth considering! (more….)
Star Wars fandom comes in many shapes and forms, while JTA mostly focuses on action figure collecting there are some people who go beyond what companies like Hasbro are offering and create their very own Star Wars dioramas or figures, sometimes even from scratch. Caleb shows you some of that in his Toy Runs. But there are quite a few more people out there who have the talent and imagination to create their very own Star Wars displays. Today I want to talk about one customizer I came across on YouTube recently: Boylei Hobby Time. And his work is nothing short of amazing. Click through to learn more!

According to Nielsen, who release a list of the top 10 most watched streaming content in the US, The Mandalorian made it into the top 3 in the final week of October, when season 2 premiered. Nielsen base their numbers on estimates of course, since streaming services don’t release any detailed information. According to Nielsen the 9 available Mandalorian episodes in the time between October 26th – November 1st accumulated 1.032 billion minutes of viewing time, only trailing The Office and The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix. Netflix has more subscribers of course. According to Brian Fuhrer of Nielsen the numbers for the Mandalorian are quite extraordinary, given the lower subscriber count for Disney+. Actually, The Mandalorian is the only non Netflix content on the list. Nothing from Amazon Prime or Hulu made the top 10.
Incidentally, these Nielsen numbers also refute any reports on YouTube about the Mandalorian season 2 opener only being watched by 40-50,000 people or so.
