My birthday and my father’s fall only about a week apart from the other, so, since he is a collector as well, we take an annual trip around the Phoenix area to all the local collector stores. It’s always fun, and there’s always something good to look at! Click here to see some wonderfully filled Star Wars sections.
Our first stop was Drawn To Comics. It’s more of a comic shop, but they had a pretty good toy section upstairs. There was a nice selection of vintage GI Joes. My dad picked up a TBSA Commander Cody missing from his clone collection.
I apologize in advance for any blurry photos.
Next up was Triforce Collectible, just across the street from the previous store. I did pick up a TVC Anakin Padawan figure that I’m going to use for a custom. They are very friendly and willing to make a deal. I recommend checking them out if you’re ever in the area.
We made a stop in an antique toy store called Smilinjacks. They had a decent selection of Star Wars; mostly Episode I figures and vehicles. After that was probably my favorite stop: The Toy Box. They had a lot of collectibles. There was a great selection of vintage and modern of just about every toy line you can think of. I also had the pleasure of meeting Dominic Pace, who played the background bounty hunter “Gekko” in the Mandalorian. He was super nice! I’m glad we stopped here.
Our last two stops moved us away from Glendale and into Phoenix. Another one of my favorite stores is Toy Anxiety. They have a big wall of loose figures with good prices. It’s great for a customizer like myself.
Finally we headed down to Collectors Marketplace. This is perhaps the most popular collector store in the Phoenix area, and is usually very busy. They have a good selection though, so it’s definitely worth stopping in.
It was a great day! I’m going down to Tucson this weekend for my birthday and I’m sure I’ll find some more good stuff to share next week, but this was quite an ultimate toy run. Share in the comments what you got this week!
