An official statement by Hasbro about the failed Rancor HasLab was posted on the Hasbro Pulse Instagram page. Click through to read the statement in full!
This is the statement posted on Instagram:
We’re sorry to say the STAR WARS The Black Series Rancor HasLab project did not reach its minimum backing goal. This is what the HasLab platform is all about – bringing our fans together and allowing you to decide if these dream projects ultimately get developed. We want to thank the fans who showed their support and backed this project, and those who shared their passion throughout the campaign. We look forward to bringing you more dream concepts in the future.
This is as corporate as it can get, in my opinion. Maybe it would have been better if Hasbro had issued an apology for mismanaging and mishandling the project. The fact that a Star Wars HasLab and the very first Black Series HasLab failed is completely on them! Maybe Hasbro’s brand management team can learn something from Japanese culture, here even CEOs bow in apology in public when they have failed their customers and/or company. Acknowledge mistakes! Don’t pretend it’s business as usual or that this is what HasLab is all about. It’s not. Learn from your mistakes!
Let’s hope the Hasbro Star Wars team will give the Black Series another chance at a “dream project”. But this time done right.
