While Rian Johnson still insists his Star Wars trilogy is happening he meanwhile in the real world just signed a deal with Netflix for two Knives Out sequels, worth a whopping $450 million. The first Knives Out movie had a very modest $40 million budget and became a surprise hit and extremely profitable as well when it grossed more than $300 million at the global box office.
While this is not directly related to Star Wars fans of The Last Jedi and Johnson’s potential Star Wars trilogy will certainly be disappointed that despite reassurances by Johnson his actual future plans seem to include a lot of things, just not Star Wars. So good luck to Rian Johnson and his future Knives Out movies! Filming for the first sequel begins in June in Greece. Daniel Craig will reprise his role from the first movie.
One final note: I hope the $450 million deal includes the production budget for the movies and marketing. Or else Rian Johnson can buy his own island now. I hear Skellig Michael is a nice place to live where you can enjoy the local fauna and flora undisturbed.

The second round of pre-orders for wave 3 from The Black Series The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary line (this includes Darth Vader, Snowtrooper, Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker (Dagobah), and Chewbacca) are starting to get canceled. JTA reader Erik just informed us that his Dorkside Toys pre-order has been canceled and that BBTS will soon be following suit. If you have this on pre-order let us know in the comments if your pre-orders get canceled too. Entertainment Earth still has several from this wave still available for individual pre-order. Might be worth securing these as a backup just in case.
There have been quite a few recent articles trying to pin down the blame on why The Vintage Collection is in the state that it’s in, and the editorials have been anywhere from ridiculous to conspiracy theory. After a recent audit of my The Vintage Collection stock, to my horror, I discovered I only have 38 Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) figures in stock, 34 short of my six dozen minimum. (more….)
Time flies when you’re having fun, but we reached the final figure in the 1985 Kenner DROIDS line. Speaking of flying, today’s review is the A-Wing Pilot, a straight repack of the figure from The Power Of The Force line. (more….)

The Bad Batch is debuting in just over a month in a 70-minute premiere on May the 4th. Click through for additional details and the complete trailer.
His real name is Putch Gundarian, but they call him Uncle Gundy in the DROIDS TV series. This figure is alright, but Kenner had so many other options from which to choose. (more….)

It is finally happening! Production for the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series will begin in April! The series will be set 10 years after the events of “Revenge of the Sith”, which means it’s almost a decade before the events of “A New Hope” and Luke is a young child.
The full cast of the series was also announced! Click through for the details!
Actor Sebastian Stan, whom most of you probably know from his Marvel movies in which he portrays “Bucky Barnes” aka “The Winter Soldier”, has been a fan favorite to play a young Luke Skywalker for years. Quite a few fans think Stan looks a lot like a young Mark Hamill and would be a perfect fit to play a young(er) Luke. While on his PR tour for the new Disney+ series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Stan appeared on Good Morning America where he was directly confronted with the question if he would play Luke Skywalker. And Sebastian Stan would be up for it, but only if Mark Hamill gave his blessing.
If Mark Hamill called me, personally, to tell me he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I will believe it. Until then, I won’t believe it.
Hamill would certainly give his blessing though, so this no real hurdle. The real question is if Lucasfilm would want a Luke Skywalker project. And what could that project be? Click through for some speculation!
Did you know that the Tatooine Skiff made multiple appearances in the DROIDS television show? We recreate a scene using it in our Photo Gallery today. One character part of this scene is Kez-Iban, who we later discover is a prince. (more….)

Either Walmart is doing things right this time and keeping pre-orders open long enough for everyone to get an order in, or we are in for a lot of cancelations! Seriously though, this is how it should be done. Even their non-Star Wars pre-orders are still available for those interested.

Here are some quick pics of the Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary line of Kenner-inspired The Black Series 6″ figures, something Hasbro said they would never do for 3.75″ collectors despite constant begging, but have done it for 6″ collectors. Whatever. Enjoy the pictures courtesy of friend and JTA reader Alientek. They’re awesome figures!

Photos of the brand new Black Series Deluxe Return of the Jedi Boba Fett figure appeared on Reddit a few days ago. And there were early reports of warped helmets out of the box. But it was not known if this issue is widespread or not. Now several video reviews of the figure have appeared on YouTube and unfortunately each and every figure reviewed has a seriously pinched helmet. What could have been a good figure will now come out of the box with a defect collectors will have to try to remedy by using hot water or a hair dryer. This may be the perfect opportunity now to talk about Hasbro’s new approach to glue helmets on unpainted heads. Click through for more!
If Hasbro had a clue, they’d make the DROIDS Boba Fett for The Vintage Collection yesterday. But they won’t, so we’ll have to revisit the 1985 DROIDS Boba Fett Kenner figure instead. We open up our Kenner DROIDS line with Boba Fett, a main character in the television series. It doesn’t differ from the previous versions, but it comes in glorious colorful packaging, and it one of the holy grails in collecting today. Check out our opening DROIDS character in our Research Droids Reviews today! (more….)

In case you haven’t noticed, the most recent wave of The Vintage Collection is strewn with horrid card art. What’s the deal, Hasbro? You need to fire your graphics team. These are mostly terrible. And if it wasn’t for JTA leading the campaign to fix the Return Of The Jedi Boba Fett card art, it would have been a total debacle! Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) is an embarrassment, Zutton is horrible. What the heck happened to Greef Karga’s packaging image? And with all the attention Baby Yoda is getting, you couldn’t find a less blurry image of Grogu? What’s with all of the hand-drawn-looking reference stills? They look worse than the vintage Kenner drawings! Please use high-resolution character film-outs, or hire someone else to do your packaging graphics. This collection deserves your best. Thank you!

The Mandalorian is a worldwide phenomenon. Even in Russia the show has passionate fans. A group of fans in Yakutsk (Siberia) was so shocked after the destruction of the ship in the series, that they decided to build their very own Razor Crest. The model is 14 meters (46 ft) long, which means the Russian Razor Crest is roughly in 1:2 scale, almost like the TVC HasLab Razor Crest relative to a TVC figure. The actual ship would be about 26 meters (85 ft) long. The Razor Crest has lights of course, a cockpit and a ramp, so you can access the interior. The model weighs about 1000 kg (2200 lbs) and cost about 8,500 Euro (10,115 USD) to make.
Would you like to have an (almost) lifesize Razor Crest in your backyard? You’d certainly be the most popular person in your entire neighborhood!
You can check out many more photos and a few videos of the Razor Crest replica on Instagram!
“Well well well! Look what the cat cleaned up, showered, exfoliated, powdered, lipsticked, Gucci’d and dragged in!” Hasbro, without warning, is now invading the old Expanded Universe for The Black Series 6″ line. For the newbies, the Expanded Universe made its debut in 1998 during The Power Of The Force “2” era and ushered in a new and eager facet of the Star Wars collecting community. Years later, fans wanted more, and Hasbro introduced the Comic Packs line, and release dozens of two-packs featuring some of the most interesting, rich, unique, and beloved Star Wars characters ever introduced outside of the films. They are some of our most-visited reviews too! Some of the figures go for INSANE amounts of money today. With this post, we’re asking that Hasbro treats The Vintage Collection community with dignity and respect and get out some of the most classic (and expensive aftermarket) action figures in multipacks, or single-carded to include, and not exclude, us in this momentous event. See the full range of Comic Packs figures HERE.
StarWars.com reveals four new The Black Series 6″ figures based on the old Expanded Universe. Guaranteed to kill the hearts of 3.75″ collectors, Hasbro finally produces Jaxxon. See the full story HERE.

There is a huge update about Toys R Us. They may make a comeback in North America (outside of Canada where stores currently exist). IGN has the full story. Special thanks to Dwayne for the alert to this news story.
Toys R Us is looking to mount another comeback. The retail chain is planning to open stores in North America again under the new ownership of WHP Global, a New York-based brand management company.WHP announced Monday in a press release that it has acquired a controlling interest in Tru Kids, the parent company of Toys R Us, Babies R Us and Geoffrey the Giraffe brands.
“We’re in the brand business, and Toys R Us is the single most credible, trusted and beloved toy brand in the world,” WHP chairman and CEO Yehuda Shmidman said. “We’re coming off a year where toys are just on fire… and for Toys R Us, the U.S. is really a blank canvas.” (more….)

Let’s continue the retrospective of 1/12 scale Star Wars action figures! Just like last time I will take a look at various figures today. What is the best action figure of Anakin Skywalker, IG-11 and Yoda? Click through for an overview of all their available 6-inch scale action figures!
Please click the thumbnail below to see an astounding collage of the nothingness that most of us believe represents how brick and mortar looks across the USA. And because this is an anecdotal example, we’d love to have our readers comment (with evidence if possible) to show how your stores look in our comments. For me, this is how every Target and Walmart looks in my area which includes a minimum of five of each store. What’s the point of these stores carrying Star Wars action figures? Yet they seem to possess the power to dictate what Hasbro produces for The Vintage Collection. Yes, Hasbro isn’t responsible for what retail orders, but perhaps Hasbro should impose an order minimum to stock stores. Empty pegs make no sense for retail and support the narrative that no one buys Star Wars. Why would they order more? Special thanks to Jon Morgan for the collage of hell. If you’re on Twitter or any other horrific social media platform, perhaps you can tag Hasbro, Walmart, and Target and ask them what the heck is up. (more….)
Evidence has just been revealed on Twitter that Cara Dune will ship in the Retro Collection assortment of The Mandalorian figures, thank the Maker! That Junkman on Twitter provides the evidence.
Is it just me, or has Hasbro severely lacked on communicating any HasLab Razor Crest updates? This wasted HasLab slot is eagerly anticipated, and we’re in the dark. You’d think they want the large population of collectors who backed 28K units happy, but what do I know? It feels like they were updating us on Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) every couple of weeks, perhaps monthly. We haven’t had a blessed update since it was fully backed. “Where’s the update?” Clara Peller would want to know!

Disney+ is adding a lot of vintage content to their platform this April. Fans can look forward to Volume I & II of Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars, Ewok movies Caravan of Courage and The Battle for Endor, and the animated Ewoks season 1 & 2. And, while they are not adding the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, they are adding the very popular Boba Fett cartoon that was a part of the special: The Story of the Faithful Wookiee. Still missing from the line-up is the Droids cartoon.
If you haven’t signed up for Disney+ yet, click here to get started!

Today I want to continue the 1/12 scale Star Wars action figure retrospective. Previously I focused on single characters. For this article I focus on characters and figures that don’t warrant an article of their own, but which have still various options available and where it makes sense to talk about what is the “best” or “ultimate” version. In this article I cover the characters Count Dooku, Mace Windu, C-3PO and R2-D2! So click through for the battle of their 6-inch action figures!

We’re extending the deadline for our poll asking you what action figures Hasbro already produced that they should pack into The Vintage Collection (for the first time) by ONE MORE DAY (today only). Here is your chance to pick five action figures from other lines you’d like to see reissued for the first time in The Vintage Collection packaging. So many incredible figures from The Legacy Collection, Legacy Collection, and The Black Series 3.75″ lines are worthy of inclusion (and other lines too). Who will you pick? Whether you like the sequels or not, whether you like the character of Rey or not, Rey is an important character in Star Wars. There are quite a few 1/12 scale action figures of her. Click through for an overview of all the 1/12 scale Rey action figures!
We’re right around the corner from reaching the 200th The Vintage Collection figure. Do you think Hasbro should reserve it for a “Kenner 96” figure? Or does it not matter to you? The last time we reached a landmark like this was in 2012 when Hasbro released Starkiller (Vader’s Secret Apprentice) (VC100) figure, and quite a few collectors felt that Hasbro should have taken the landmark more seriously for a classic Kenner character. Anyway, let us know in the comments if VC200 means anything special to you, and who you’d like to see numbered that way.
Funko released their Q4 2020 earnings report yesterday. Net sales for the full year are down compared to 2019 for apparent reasons, however, Q4 earnings were up year over year. Also, sales for Funko Pops grew in 2020 by 1% worldwide and 12% in the US. Funko’s domestic US sales were the strongest yet, however the pandemic did affect global sales. But let’s not dwell on the numbers too much. More interesting is what Funko’s bestsellers were. Contrary to many other toy companies Funko do provide a detailed breakdown of their top selling licenses in their earnings presentation. And here it is more good news for Star Wars toy sales! Click through for more details!
We can handle the re-release of an excellent action figure like Zutton. What we cannot handle is an inferior paint job, and the refusal to update the figure’s mismatched insert-molded joints. What gives, Hasbro? At least Hasbro got the name right. People are confusing this character as Takeel, but if you do your research, you’ll find that Takeel has curly and thinning hair, Zutton does NOT. This is Zutton. And it’s a check-off of our “Kenner 96” list. Find out why this is true. (more….)
Gentle Giant reveals their latest Mini Bust: Sabine Wren from Star Wars: Rebels. Click through for their full gallery on Facebook.
There probably has been no other action figure in Hasbro’s long history that has made us more furious than The Child. $12.99 for a couple of accessories? What an embarrassment for Hasbro. This is a $5 MAXIMUM product. The Child was an accessory with Din Djarin, and now it’s a basic figure for full price? The pram doesn’t make up the difference either! And it’s TWO PER CASE?! Is Hasbro insane? Find out why The Child (VC184) doesn’t have our blessing. Hasbro needs to realize TVC collectors are NOT TBS6 collectors. We don’t accept any MSRP Hasbro sets! (more….)

Today we continue our retrospective of 1/12 scale Star Wars action figures with a look at the various Obi-Wan Kenobi action figures. Obi-Wan is one of the most important Star Wars characters and the movies follow his career from being a Padawan to becoming an old hermit on Tatooine and his eventual death. Do 6-inch scale action figures of him do the character justice? Click through for an overview of all the 6-inch scale Obi-Wan Kenobi action figures and let’s find out which one may be the best or ultimate one!
Greef Karga has the potential to be much better than it is. Did Hasbro take some shortcuts with this figure? Find out in our review!! (more….)
There is mixed reception with Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) (VC187) figure. But it’s not as bad as you think. Hasbro released the last version 20 YEARS ago. It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? This version has a lot of new tooling. See what Hasbro did! (more….)
After getting to spend some quality time with my new The Vintage Collection Boba Fett figure from Return Of The Jedi, I noticed two details I missed earlier, although one might be a defect on my sample. The first is that Boba Fett’s head sits a double ball-socket joint, but the point here is that it’s a geodesic sphere, something we first saw on The Black Series [Phase I] Darth Vader (#26) figure. Also, Hasbro tooled a partial head, including a chin, and the lower sides of the jaw. Then I was playing with the jet pack and noticed it splits in half and has an interior that is sculpted as well. But again, this might be a defect on my sample. Check out both images by clicking below, and see even more images of this fantastic figure RIGHT HERE in our Research Droids Reviews! Please leave any comments on our Boba Fett RDR page!
Welcome back to another Toy Run Tuesday! I received a new model kit this week. It’s going to be a big project… But I am very much looking forward to the finished result! Take a look at the kit by clicking here! After that, please take the time to leave a comment of your week’s finds, customs, photos, or collections.
After looking at action figures of Luke, Han and Darth Vader it is high time we look at 1/12 scale action figure representations of the most popular Star Wars heroine: Princess Leia. Do we have an ultimate 6-inch scale Leia action figure? What versions of her are still missing? Click through for a retrospective of all the 6-inch scale Leia action figures you can get!
Wow. If Hasbro didn’t do anything right for The Vintage Collection for the rest of 2021 (which is likely at this point), we probably won’t care. Boba Fett (VC186), based on the character’s appearance from Return Of The Jedi, is the best 3.75″ super-articulated action figure of the year. It’s that good. 177 TVC figures separate the first ROTJ Boba Fett from this one, so we waited a LONG TIME for this update. Oh, and it has one tiny issue. Do you know what it is? Check out the rough gallery and the final review. Some updated images coming soon!! (more….)

There are a ton of “excellent” action figures already produced that Hasbro should pack into The Vintage Collection. Hasbro kicked-off the return of The Vintage Collection in this manner but chose the worst characters possible for the launch (they were mostly Sequel Trilogy characters). You would think that making an action figure of the most iconic Star Wars villain would be a pretty easy task. Darth Vader wears a helmet, you don’t really have to sculpt a human likeness, all you need is access to helmet replicas (or access to the Lucasfilm archives) or reference photos of all the various Vader helmets used throughout the movies. But as it turns out sculpting a great Darth Vader figure is not all that easy. So is there an ultimate 6-inch scale Darth Vader action figure? You may think there is an easy answer. But maybe there’s not… So click through for a retrospective of all the various 1/12 scale Darth Vader figures you can get and let’s find out if there really is THE ultimate Darth Vader action figure!

Thank you to everyone who voted in our The Vintage Collection Fan Channel Repack Poll. We received an amazing amount of response and feedback, and we now have the results compiled. Today is the last day to add your choices before we lock the comments and tally the results! Hasbro’s choices for The Vintage Collection “Fan Channel” repack waves have been less than stellar, and if judging by the last assortment, utterly confusing. They may claim these figures are not for “us” but that’s not realistic. Let’s help them make the wisest repack choices. Click through for directions and to add your picks.
Don’t panic. It’s currently OUT OF STOCK as of this posting. This could be NOTHING. Or this could be SOMETHING. Hasbro Pulse added the San Diego Comic-Con Boba Fett vintage Kenner figure to the front of the Star Wars listings. We’ll just have to wait and see if this action has any meaning. Special thanks to friend Alientek for the alert!
Here is some cool news! If you’re looking for discounted The Vintage Collection figures, head to your local Ollie’s store. I just got back and found a dozen of each of The Empire Strikes Back See-Threepio (C-3PO), Luke Skywalker (Bespin), and Return Of The Jedi General Lando Calrissian, and the Disney Star Wars Cassian Andor (a ton of that figure – a ton). They are priced at $5.99 each and are joined by The Black Series [Phase III] Luke Skywalker (Yavin) and plush Baby Yoda merchandise. Good luck! Special thanks to JTA reader and friend Bing “Upstate” Hamton for the alert and news!

There have been a number of Luke Skywalker action figures in the 1/12 scale since the Black Series, later followed by S.H.Figuarts, entered the market in 2013. In fact, the vast majority of versions of Luke that appear on screen have been realized by now, with only a few notable versions missing. This is perhaps the perfect time to look back and reflect upon the many Luke Skywalkers we have gotten over the years in the 6-inch scale. Do we have an ultimate 6-inch Luke Skywalker? And what is your favorite 6-inch Luke Skywalker? So click through for an overview and discussion of 1/12 scale Luke Skywalker action figures, both Hasbro and SHF.
