Now that I live farther from the city I don’t get to go toy hunting nearly as often. I stop at Target near my employer, but that is about it. This last Saturday we went out as a family, and we stopped at a couple stores that have collectible sections. The Vintage Collection Bespin Security Guard (Helder Spinoza) is the best figure of 2022, and we say that knowing it has imperfections and is 50% reused parts. And it’s hard to believe we waited 42 years for the FIRST modern counterpart to the classic 1980 The Empire Strikes Back vintage Kenner release. It’s like waiting for a new ABBA record. But it’s finally here, and it’s divine. (more….)

Only in a bizarro Walmart world would you find The Vintage Collection marked $2 less than a Retro Collection figure. But here we are.

We’re just about caught up on my collecting activities while I was away. At the end of my leave I was afforded enough time (and enough free wood) to make a dream come true. About 3 years ago I designed a small papercraft model of a large building I wanted to make for my action figures, and, in a lot less time than I thought it would take, I finally was able to finish the real thing. Here is something else to file under “You can’t make this stuff up.” We are receiving MULTIPLE reports of JTA readers receiving the Walmart exclusive Bespin Security Guard (Heldor Spinoza) in place of the Mandalorian Super Commando Captain from Amazon! Once again, another retailer-exclusive figure shows up at the wrong, uh, retailer. And before you ask if the seller was Amazon, that answer is yes. The supply chain is in complete disarray. Let us know if you received this figure instead, too!

The Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary will kick off with an exclusive The Black Series Admiral Ackbar release available first at MCM Comic Con (October 28-30th), and then widely released (while supplies last) on November 2nd. Head on over to Jedi News for the full reveal and details!

There are two troopers I finished customs of, and both are gaping holes in the ranks of Star Wars soldiers. I’m sure we’ll get one of them soon, and the other… we’ll see. Notices from Entertainment Earth and others are going out that Hasbro discontinued The Vintage Collection Boba Fett (ROTJ), Ahsoka Tano (Mandalore), Darth Maul (Mandalore), Emperor’s Royal Guard, and Echo, and then The Black Series Captain Rex (The Bad Batch), Asajj Ventress, Hunter, and Crosshair. If you got a notice for other figures, please let us know in the comments. If you’re waiting on these, you best start searching for them fast.

The ShopDisney exclusive The Black Series Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader (Concept Art Edition) set (announced at Celebration Anaheim) is available on shelves in Hong Kong right now. Hopefully, this means we will be seeing it available online soon. JTA reader Steve D. Has the report:

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader Concept Collection Black Series 2 pack is now on sale in Sino Centre in Mongkok in Hong Kong. Fandango has listed a Rogue One re-release on their site set for August 26th at select IMAX theaters, with a special look at the upcoming Disney+ Andor series. The official Star Wars Twitter feed has also posted the official release schedule for all 12 episodes of Andor.

It’s hard to believe, but there is a third variation of the Target exclusive Migs Mayfeld The Vintage Collection figure. It features red arms bands on BOTH arms. Earlier today Disney released their latest earnings report. The company beat expectations across the board, revenue is better than expected, theme parks also performed better and Disney+ subscriber growth beat what analysts projected.

Disney+ added a total of 14.4 million new subscribers, analysts had expected 10 million new subscribers. All Disney owned streaming services combined, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN, now have more subscribers than Netflix, 221 million vs 220 million. Disney+ alone now has 44.5 million subscribers in the US and 152.1 million worldwide. 58.4 million of those are subscribers of Hotstar in India.

Disney also announced new subscription fees for Disney+. Beginning on December 8th Disney will offer an ad-supported tier for Disney+ in the US for $7.99. The ad-free tier will then be $10.99, an increase of $3.

Disney’s earnings call follows Hasbro’s earnings report from July, Hasbro is also doing well, revenue is up and partner brands revenue growth was once more driven by Marvel and Star Wars, but as usual Hasbro would not provide any specifics here.

Hello everyone! Several Tuesdays have passed since the last TRT, but I’m back, baby! More like I’m back from having a baby… I’ve been on paternity leave these last 3 weeks. While I wish it was longer, I must return to my regular duties, which also means I have time again to write Toy Run articles. I hope to see lots of comments here and in the coming weeks! Andor will be released on Disney+ in September. But apparently Disney has given journalists and the media access to the first four episodes. A few days ago a user posted his first impression of the series on the ResetEra forum. Leaker Bespin Bulletin thinks the user has indeed seen the series, since the same user also posted first impressions about other Disney+ shows which turned out to be correct.

So what will Andor be like? Nothing major will be spoiled here, actually nothing gets spoiled, it’s just a general impression, but still, if you want to know nothing maybe better stay away. Everyone else: please click through for a very first impression of Andor!
