The Nielsen Streaming Charts were delayed this time because of the holiday weekend in the US. But today Nielsen finally updated their charts. The last time Andor accumulated 418 million minutes with episode 7. Episode 8 (the beginning of the Narkina 5 prison arc) however, sees a small decline to 385 million minutes. But since a high profile series like Rings of Power dropped out of the charts (two weeks after the final episode was included in the charts), Andor is in 8th place and stays in the top 10 original streaming series charts.
It’s safe to say that Andor has found its audience, which is roughly 40-60% (depending on what episodes you look at) of the previous two Star Wars live action series, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi (while The Mandalorian had more viewers still). This does makes Andor the most popular show on Disney+, but there is no competition on the streaming service at the moment. Let’s see if the ratings improve again a bit in two weeks, once the final prison arc episode is included by Nielsen.

One thing that sticks in my craw is the incessant seal barking and clapping over Hasbro’s The Vintage Collection’s Death Star Gunner figure. You know, the one based on the character from Rogue One. SPOILER ALERT: It is TERRIBLE! But more egregious than that is the acceptance that it fills the shoes of the classic 1985 The Power Of The Force Imperial Gunner figure. Would you believe that (GASP!) many collectors find it an acceptable counterpart? I will outline why I find these people deplorable Star Wars collectors*. (more….)

The Nielsen Streaming Charts are delayed this week, probably because of the holiday. But to fill the hole that Andor left behind why not watch the latest work by YouTube channel Auralnauts who released a 1970s vintage era Andor series intro earlier this week. And they nailed it down, from the Doctor Who inspired synth music to the cheesy editing you usually found in those series intros until they slowly went out of fashion after the 1980s and are virtually non-existent in the modern entertainment landscape. But if Andor had been a tv show in 1975… chances are good it would have looked something like this. Almost makes you miss those old fashioned intros that took their time to introduce the characters, often with catchy theme songs. Click through to watch the trailer!

It’s Friday, which means the Nielsen Streaming Charts have been updated. Just a few words today. Andor ratings have improved yet again a little with episode 7. Which was the standalone episode with Andor going on a vacation. It was 405 million minutes last week, and it’s 418 million minutes for episode 7 now. Which makes Andor the most watched Disney+ series, after She-Hulk ended. Andor drops to #9 in the charts though, because of the competition. So we have to see if Andor can maintain its top 10 position in the original series charts next week. However, Rings of Power should drop out of the top 10 next week, one week after the finale RoP is still good enough for position 5 with 570 million minutes, and remember, this is for the week after the finale with no new episode added. Anyway, the ratings for Andor seem to have reached a stable level and chances are ratings will improve further, because word of mouth is very positive. But it’s still the least watched Star Wars live action series. Obi-Wan Kenobi had ended with episode 6, but episode 7 of The Book of Boba Fett had 885 million minutes, which was of course the season finale.
But Andor’s ratings are still very solid, especially for a drama series that breaks with several Star Wars traditions and that doesn’t feature a fan favourite character from the Original or Prequel Trilogy – or cute little Baby Yodas.
The 13th Battalion Trooper is a nice-looking action figure, but it is still too expensive and unexciting. (more….)

Aliens! A space battle! Surprises! Daughter of Ferrix has it all. It’s the penultimate episode of the season and things are moved into place for the finale next week. We catch up with all important characters and also learn how Bix is doing, who is still in Imperial custody. The episode also has few things to say about droids. So there’s lots to talk about once more! Click here or on the banner to read my spoiler review and let’s discuss the latest Andor episode!

Fans living in the US who are not subscribed to Disney+ will get a chance to watch the first two Andor episodes on various networks and Hulu next week!
ABC: Wednesday November 23, 9-10:30 pm ET/PT
FX: Thursday, November 24, 9-10:30 pm ET/PT
Freeform: Friday, November 25, 9-10:30 pm ET/PT
Hulu: Available from November 23 through December 7
Of course this means the third episode will not be available, and you can say this is Disney’s way of gaining more subscribers, since watching just the first two episodes means you miss out on the final episode of the arc, leaving things very much unfinished. It’s obvious Disney hopes that at least some people will get hooked and want more. It’s not the first time a streaming service has done something similar, some Star Trek episodes were available on YouTube in the US and even network tv (much later though). Let’s see if this will have an effect on Andor’s tail end, since the episodes air the day the season finale is released on Disney+. Meaning, if someone gets hooked they can binge the entire show over Thanksgiving and the following weekend.
We have some Visual Guide updates for our The Vintage Collection Visual Guide guide, starting off with Yoda (VC218). Click below for the full guide page. We also have a full review of this figure right here.
JTA reader Patrice found the Star Wars Visions Twins set this past week in France.
Just found yesterday (11/11/22) at Micromania Zing in France (a.k.a Gamestop), statues of the Twins Am and Karre from Star Wars Visions. A little over 18.5cm tall, about 7″ not counting the included stand.
It’s a bit remarkable as Banpresto typically only do manga and anime statues from famous series like Dragon Ball, One Piece… never Star Wars.
In a neat little packaging trick, once lined up the boxes show the shape of the Twin’s goofy looking double ISD. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the report, Patrice!

Now this is big news, Studio Ghibli, who are known for movies like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle (to name just a few), just announced on Twitter that they will work with Lucasfilm on some yet undisclosed project. The official Star Wars Twitter account then retweeted the reveal. So it’s official.
Will it be for Star Wars Visions 2? Could it be a proper animated movie? No details are known yet but the prospect of Studio Ghibli working on a Star Wars project is certainly very exciting. Studio Ghibli’s Academy Award winning animated movies are among the very best in the genre. Maybe a proper full length movie would be a logical step after the shorts we got in Visions. But we have to wait for more details. Would you prefer it if Studio Ghibli made a proper movie or would you also be happy if it’s “just” a short for Visions season 2? Of course there’s always a chance the project is not related to Star Wars at all and that Studio Ghibli will develop something original for Lucasfilm, but Star Wars seems like a good fit, especially after Visions. And the official Star Wars Twitter account retweeted the reveal for a reason probably.
UPDATE: the Studio Ghibli project is a Mandalorian short titled ” Grogu and Dust Bunnies” and it will be released on November 12th, the 3rd anniversary of The Mandalorian!
One Way Out concludes the prison arc, with Cassian setting his plan to escape Narkina 5 in motion. But to me the real highlight of this week’s episode were two scenes in which characters just talk, Mon Mothma, who has to contemplate an offer that would bring unhappiness to someone she loves… and then Luthen Rael, who reveals to a fellow rebel what being a rebel cost him, what sacrifices he has made. So there’s once again lots to talk about! Read my spoiler review for One Way Out and let’s discuss the latest Andor episode by clicking here or on the banner!

Walmart has opened pre-orders for their exclusive The Vintage Collection ARC Commander Colt. Click here for the pre-order page.
Two weeks ago Lucasfilm released the anthology series Tales of the Jedi which can be considered a part of The Clone Wars, it uses the same artstyle and same animation, and the six short episodes focus on two different characters featured in The Clone Wars, fan favourite Ahsoka Tano and then the villain Count Dooku. Because of the structure of the series I will talk about the three Ahsoka episodes today, Life and Death, Practice Makes Perfect and Resolve, the 1st, 5th and 6th episode respectively. The Count Dooku episodes will follow next weekend or so, some time after Andor, which releases its new episode tomorrow.
Anyway, today we talk about Tales of the Jedi, or at least the half of it that focuses on Ahsoka. Fans of The Clone Wars will find many things to like here, even if Ahsoka’s episodes offer little that is actually new or all that interesting maybe. But let’s talk about all that in my spoiler review and click here or on the banner to proceed!

There are pros and cons to the R2-SHW (Antoc Merrick’s Droid) figure. Hasbro evidently tweaked the existing tooling to make almost all parts function as they did over a decade ago. So, that’s good. But this tooling needs to be retired. The scale is too small, and collectors deserve a premium astromech droid to fill the socket of Blue Leader’s X-Wing fighter. Oh, unrelated, and for trivia buffs, today is our 4,444th RDR! Enjoy! (more….)

The latest Andor episode may be somewhat difficult to watch. People you probably like a lot are tortured and the episode drives home the point how casual the Empire is with being inhumane, cruel, sadistic and utterly terrifying, something we already got a glimpse of in A New Hope with Moff Tarkin and his officers, but it’s driven home here in Andor with force. Meanwhile, Cassian is not losing his spirit, and he has adapted to his new life. But he’s already plotting his escape from Narkina 5. And then there’s quite the revelation about Mon Mothma’s family… So there’s once more lots to talk about.
