Hasbro Star Wars May 3rd Livestream: The Black Series Reveals

The Black Series had a couple of reveals today, some are great, but not all are exciting though. Click through for all the details!

One of the exciting reveals today

The Black Series

Here are all the reveals!

Gaming Greats

  • Battle Damaged General Grievous (Gamestop exclusive)
  • Darth Malgus from KOTOR (mainline release)

Malgus comes with a soft good cape

Both figures will be available in fall 2023. Malgus is a mainline release and not exclusive.

A brand new Mandalorian figure was revealed as well, it’s the inevitable version with the darksaber. The figure is partially new, with an all-new helmet, torso, and arms and the figure does look more screen accurate now! The figure also has a soft goods cape finally. This is probably the best TBS Mandalorian yet. Only a little late maybe. This figure will be released in spring 2024. So you only have to wait another year…

Return of the Jedi gets mainline releases of the 40th Anniversary figures, i.e. repacks:

  • Wicket
  • Chewbacca

Both figures will be released in fall 2023.

Then a few more figures are coming to the Clone Wars 20th Anniversary line (remember that Hasbro celebrates all of Clone Wars here).

  • Clone Trooper with removable helmet
  • Ahsoka Tano as she appeared in season 3, she is clearly modeled after Rosario Dawson, only looking much younger
  • Magnaguard, the figure has a soft goods cloak and two staff weapons

Ahsoka looks like a somewhat stylized and younger version of Rosario Dawson, combining features both from the show and the actress

The Magnagaurd with soft goods

And finally, an Axe Woves roleplay helmet was revealed as well.

There were also a couple of pipeline reveals! First for the Archive line:

  • Bo-Katan
  • X-Wing Luke
  • Darth Vader (ANH)
  • Stormtrooper (the latest version)

And then there were also pipeline reveals for the mainline:

  • Paz Vizsla (a repack…)
  • R4 (an astromech from The Mandalorian) which will be a Walmart exclusive
  • Little Ani from The Phantom Menace
  • Padme from The Phamtom Menace in what appears to be the outfit she wears during the final attack on the palace
  • A Carson Teva roleplay helmet

Pre-orders become available on May 4th, 1pm ET!

And that’s a wrap!

What do you think? Releasing Little Ani as a single figure is a bold move by Hasbro, in my opinion. The Magnaguard is a welcome addition to the line, as is Darth Malgus, the KOTOR lineup is slowly expanding. It’s a bit disappointing that Hasbro chose not to make Queen Amidala (Theed) from The Phantom Menace since the outfit and the make-up are so iconic and instead went for the action outfit later in the movie.

And it seems people hoping for figures like Dedra from Andor will have to wait until season 2 of Andor. I have a feeling we won’t get more Andor figures until then.
