This is really starting to grate on me. As someone who has been collecting the modern Star Wars line since 1995 (and the vintage line for years before that), I have to admit that I have never seen more instances of figure thefts and figure swapping than I have from 2015 onward. It’s ALWAYS been an issue, but the frequency is very depressing now. Clearly, the new Star Wars films have brought a ton of new collectors, but it seems to have also brought a facet of the unscrupulous which are really cramping the style of this hobby and ruining for other peer collectors AND THE KIDS. But it doesn’t just end here. The attitude I see is just as disconcerting. I belong to quite a few TBS Facebook groups and the frequent entitlement I see (by multiple collectors – certainly not all) that this is funny to “stick it to the man” and “Hasbro can afford this” just flabbergasts me. I guess it’s just a sign of the times. Anyway, please take this article as “don’t do this because it’s morally wrong” and please encourage others to not do this either.
