EV-9D9. Is there a more-terrifying droid in Star Wars? With her surly female-programmed voice, she instilled fear in the droids that came into contact with her. Standing tall, she sets the latest droid prisoners to work throughout Jabba’s palace and utilizes the Gamorrean Guards to station them at their new posts. After 40 years of action figure making, Kenner/Hasbro only produced two versions of this fan-favorite torture supervisory droid. And it’s time to finally get a definitive version because she is one of the most-requested updates by Star Wars fans. The question we have to answer is if Hasbro will finally listen to us or not.

1985’s THE POWER OF THE FORCE EV-9D9 action figure was ahead of its time. The only figure that comes with an articulated jaw, EV-9D9 comes with an impressive six points of articulation. Collectors saw how far Kenner’s technology arrived in 1985 because so many of those figures are significantly better than their predecessors. But the figure wasn’t perfect as evidenced by the frequently broken arms and incorrect coloring. Many collectors are still fond of this 1985 release, but they were also happy when Kenner/Hasbro updated her in 1997.

1997’s The Power Of The Force “2” [Green/Freeze Frame] EV-9D9 didn’t differ all that much from the figure of her released over a decade previously. And if you pose both figures together, you’ll discover just how similar they are indeed. The 1997 EV-9D9 comes with an incredibly better paint job, but with the same amount of articulation, not too much else sets them apart. Now that we’re nearing a quarter of a century from the 1997 action figure, collectors are desperate to see EV-9D9 updated for The Vintage Collection. And we need a version of her with significantly more articulation!

2. If we don’t have a definitive version of this figure, should Hasbro tool a new figure from the ground up again, or should they tweak a current sculpt to perfect it instead?
