Early this morning, starwars.com reviewed some of the photos from Vanity Fair’s new article. Included are several wonderful behind the scenes photos from the production of the new film. I am loving Keri Russell and Richard E. Grant’s costumes. The lack of R2 and familiar aliens is rather conspicuous, though. Rey and Kylo are wearing their standard Jedi-y and Sith-y costumes. Lando’s lookin’ good in the Falcon with Poe, Chewy, R2 and D-O, and the practical effects of the speeders, etc. look wonderful. I think the costumes from this movie are the best of the Sequel Trilogy, but it would still be nice to see a Rodian in there somewhere. It looks like Rey and Kylo will have a final “boss fight,” and judging by the harsh angles of the structure they are on and the waves crashing about them, I am speculating they may be fighting atop the remains of the Death Star seen in the trailer.
EDIT: For the record, I know R2 is in the photo with Luke, but it doesn’t look like that is a set photo. It doesn’t look like R2 is on set with the rest of the cast. This is just an observation, of course, and I hope R2 has a worthwhile part in the movie.
