In Pennsylvania, there are over 14K children in the Foster Care System. 4K-5K of those 14K are in my immediate area of Philadelphia. Through no fault of their own, these innocent victims get bounced around from house to house, and most have literally NOTHING in the form of earthly possessions. (more….)
My local church ran two initiatives to help these foster children out: one on Father’s Day and one for Back to School. For Father’s Day, our church worked together as a team and bundled over 600 “gym” bags filled with personal hygiene and other items, so they have something to call their own when they arrive in their new foster home. There are also notes added letting them know that they’re loved, prayed for and reminding them that they’re loved by God. Today was the day the Back To School initiative was due, and we put together the same amount of school book bags filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue sticks and other things these children will need for their first day of school.
Jedi Temple Archives has faithfully given 10% of the money we take in through sponsors, advertising, and affiliate links and give it to charitable initiatives like this for years. And we’ll continue to do so. We tithe the money brought in because not only is it the right thing to do, it also helps reach those who are less fortunate and in need of love as well as material things to survive a little easier in life. We wanted to thank you for your role in reaching these kids too. You’re a big part of helping to reach this neglected world of children and young people in desperate need. When you click on a link on our site, please be reminded that a portion of it plays a part to help this community in need. JTA will ceaselessly continue to support initiatives like this. Thank you for your part in the support.
“Manmade” religion often gets a bad rap and has caused considerable damage in the world, but there is a type of Godly religion that He sees as pure.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27)
