This isn’t a rumor. This isn’t news. But man oh man, Hasbro seems ever unwavering in their stance that things WILL NOT improve as far as The Vintage Collection is concerned (from collectors’ perspectives). For me, it is disconcerting. (more….)
Indeed, The Vintage Collection is “The Repack Collection,” and Hasbro has made it abundantly clear through recent interviews and online banter that this is how it’s going to be. They need “cheap figures” to add to the line in order to bring us all-new sculpts and never-before-released characters. But it feels like the entire original TVC line will be out for a second time before we get the MANY characters we desperately need for the line. I get it. And at the same time, I don’t get other things.
I am not necessarily faulting them. But I don’t understand why they can’t attempt a trial period of a 1:1 ratio of The Black Series 6″ figures to The Vintage Collection figures for one year. If they make a Lando Calrissian 6″ figure, there will be a 3.75″ super-articulated/definitive The Vintage Collection. Why can’t Hasbro allow the market to dictate what is successful or more popular when the battleground is fair?
While Hasbro is making efforts to bring us new sculpts (yes, thank you for the Power Droid, you made many very happy), at this pace more and more collectors will become impatient and disappear. It’s been happening exponentially every year.
I don’t know about you. But I’m growing weary. Just please make the Kenner 93 as fast as you can, Hasbro. I need to bow out ASAP.
