Welcome back, Toy Runners, to another Tuesday report! This week I have a custom alien I finished that I’m pretty proud of, and a couple shots of a mandalorian blaster I painted. I’d love to see what you got this week as well, so please click here and leave your comments below the article!
In the style of Empire Toy Works, I decided to use an Acid Rain figure as a base for a Star Wars custom. I really like how it turned out. There are a few more things going on here than just the obvious head and helmet. There are markings that have been painted over from the original paint scheme. The upper leg armor is a stormtrooper leg that I shaved down to add over the existing armor. The kama is real leather I painted stripes and markings on. Anyway, Acid Rain bodies are good bases because they are somewhat basic when it comes down to it. Relatively flat armor overall that can be easily added to or sculpted on.
I also wanted to share a blaster job I’m pretty proud of. Painting blasters is really what got me going in the customizing world, and I still find it fun and somewhat therapeutic. This was a Rubies Halloween Mandalorian blaster.
There you have it! My week in Star Wars was pretty great. I also got a new shelf for the collection but will update that next week when I have more set up on it. Please share your photos in the comments below!
