In an interview with CNBC Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner talked about raising prices for Hasbro toys which will come into full effect in the 4th quarter of 2021. The price increase is meant to compensate, among other things, higher shipping costs (shipping rates have gone through the roof in the past year) and to make sure Hasbro maintains a 15% profit margin. While Mr Golder would not add any specifics chances are Star Wars toys will also be affected. Click through for a quote by Brian Goldner where he explains what is coming.
This is what Brian Goldner said:
Yes, there will be a price increase around the world. We are being very careful that price increase is just covering our costs. But given the high demand in many of these product categories and new innovation and new products, and many of them are associated with incredible content or content and commerce, we are seeing that the pricing is holding and that the consumer sees the value in our product.
How much more would you be willing to pay for a Star Wars action figure?
