Hasbro Star Wars February 1st Livestream: The Black Series Reveals

Not all that much was revealed for The Black Series in today’s livestream!

  • Revenge of the Jedi Darth Vader Star Wars Celebration Exclusive
  • Rebel Commando
  • Clone Commander Jesse
  • Ki Adi Mundi
  • Scout Trooper Roleplay Helmet

There were also three pipeline reveals! Click through for the details!

This year’s Celebration exclusive

The Star Wars Celebration Darth Vader is a straight repaint that comes in a “Revenge of the Jedi” box with removable poster. Here is the figure:

As you can see Hasbro painted Darth Vader in a dark red tone.

Next is a brand new figure, the Endor Rebel Commando! This figure will come with two blasters and two face plates, plus a backpack. This is the Return of the Jedi version of the Hoth Rebel Trooper from the Empire Strikes Back 40th anniversary line. The difference here is that the new Endor Rebel Commando will be a deluxe figure. So get ready to open your wallets really wide for this figure!

Version 1

Version 2 (what you could use as old man Rex on Endor)

Hasbro is very proud of the paint job with the camo. Too bad that the knee joints are unpainted which gives the figure a somewhat odd look if posed kneeling down. But painting joints is of course very difficult to do, paint will scratch off, paint may get stuck, but maybe Hasbro engineers could find a solution for that.

This figure will be released in summer 2023, no pre-order date was given.

Then there’s Clonetrooper (Clone Commander) Jesse:

Clones are popular figures, I believe Jesse will be no exception here. However, fans may not be happy to learn that he is a Walmart exclusive in the US. This is also the only figure with a pre-order date as part of Walmart’s own event: March 16th, 10 am EST! Good luck!

Then there’s Ki Adi Mundi, who was a pipeline reveal previously:

He is a brand new figure, so thankfully Hasbro did not reuse either the Mace Windu or Obi-Wan Kenobi buck for Ki Adi Mundi. You will have to wait a long time for him though, he will be released in spring 2024, yes, that is more than a year away.

And finally, a new roleplay helmet was revealed, the Scout Trooper helmet:

It has a voice changer function.

And then there are three pipeline reveals:

A Luke Skywalker & Grogu build-up pack, so basically repacks with some new accessories. An all new Darth Malgus figure, deluxe of course, and finally yet another roleplay helmet, the Ahsoka Loyalist helmet.

Overall, I think this was a pretty lackluster livestream for The Black Series today. Not much was revealed, one of the figures is even more than a year away. And a figure whose previous iteration was a normal release (the trooper with the two face plates and two blasters) is now a deluxe item.

I suppose the reveals will ramp up once Mandalorian season 3 is released. And as usual sites like io9 or Yahoo etc may also have exclusive reveals in the coming days.
