You probably never really pay attention to it anymore, but before each and every Star Wars Disney+ series we get this short Lucasfilm Star Wars helmet montage. The entire sequence is very dark, helmets all flash by very rapidly and as mentioned, chances are high you barely pay attention to it anymore.
Now each and every series does have its own slightly different version of this helmet montage, i.e. the sequence of the helmets and even the helmets included in the sequence slightly differ between series like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, The Bad Batch or The Mandalorian.
Until now The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor and The Mandalorian had one thing in common: the inclusion of BB-8 and Kylo Ren featured in the short intro sequence (The Bad Batch only has helmets from the Clone Wars era). Not anymore though. Click through for more!
Now what am I talking about? Here are all the helmets featured in the intro in the previous The Mandalorian seasons:
And this is the brand new montage from the current third season:
Do you notice something?
BB-8, Kylo Ren and the First Order Stormtrooper are gone, as well as C-3PO and the X-Wing pilot. They were replaced by Bo-Katan, the Armorer (who was also featured in the Kenobi Lucasfilm Star Wars montage), IG-11, a TIE-Fighter pilot and what looks like Fennec Shand’s helmet.
Now why the sequence was changed is anyone’s guess. You may say they want the intro sequence to only feature characters from the series… but this is not the case, since the Armorer was seen in the Kenobi intro montage. And Vader will never appear in The Mandalorian.
It probably means little… but I think it’s funny that all the sequel trilogy characters were erased from the intro. With Kylo Ren and BB-8, until now, featured in all the intros for all the live action shows. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, or a sign of things to come. Either way, goodbye Kylo Ren and BB-8.
In other, probably unrelated news: the sequel trilogy Star Wars hotel will only have two “voyages” per week going forward. Apparently not enough people want to stay there so they have to greatly reduce the number of events. And according to reports cast members were already let go. Maybe it’s high time the Halcyon enters a wormhole and travels back in time to the Luke Skywalker era… or at least the Mando and Baby Yoda era…
Have fun in the comments! And keep it fun!
