How Many Figures Do You Buy?

It’s been said that twenty percent of a market buys eighty percent of the goods. That means that you and I here reading this article are probably buying a lot of action figures, but how many is that really? JTA friend Tyler F. and I were having a conversation about the market for TVC and TBS figures. We have 3.75″ collectors and 6″ collectors (and others) who follow our site, and I was wondering, when it comes down it, who buys more action figures? Click through for more.

The End Result of Poor Distribution: Walmart Edition

Yesterday I went to a liquidation store because I knew they had star wars figures. I just didn’t realize how many figures they had… There were cases upon cases full of Cassian and Jyn, and the remaining third of the stack was split between Death Troopers, Scarif Troopers, Lando, and Ackbar. The VC140 Rogue One Stormtrooper was my most anticipated figure of the year. Now that I have a few, it is my new favorite. I know some of our readers are on the fence about buying them since they are not “Original Trilogy specific,” but aren’t they? Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you should buy a few (or a few more).

Show Us Your TVC Wave 6 Figures!

I’m seeing numerous reports of wave 6 showing up in people’s homes around the country. Did you pre-order wave 6 of The Vintage Collection? I just got 4 stormtroopers in the mail yesterday (from Amazon, and not a scalper price). Post a photo of your most recent hauls, especially if you got wave 6, in the comments of your new figures and where you ordered them from.

Yet Another Cancelled EE Item Heads to Ross

The last Ross exclusive was the Red Squadron A-wing. Are you ready for another? The once Toys R Us, turned Entertainment Earth then cancelled exclusive C-3PO and R2-D2 2-pack showed up at one of my local Ross stores in Mesa, AZ. It’s been available on Amazon for some time, but you can potentially get it for only $7 at Ross. Can we just send all the exclusives there so I can get them on the cheap? Check out our review of this nicely painted 2-pack here.

What Accessories Do We Need for TVC?

For some time, I have been rather disappointed with the lack of accessories that come with the 3.75″ premium lines. For example, Luke (Jedi Master) had a cloak if you count that as an accessory and nothing else, Walmart exclusive Lando was missing his blaster, the Praetorian Guard with only 1 head/weapon, etc. It seems that the days of extra accessories are gone, so what can be done? My personal favorite accessory set is the Endor Victory Accessory set. It came with the best trench coat ever. If Hasbro were to reintroduce accessory sets, what accessories would you like to see? Let us know in the comments!

Take a Comparative Look at The Many 6" Vaders

I’ve started down the rabbit hole of Marvel Legends figures recently, so I’ve started following The Fwoosh for news in that regard. They write the occasional Star Wars article as well, and today they posted a wonderful video about all the various 6″ Darth Vader figures on the market. In addition to reporting the news of an upcoming Figuarts Vader, we have reviewed several Darth Vader figures in great detail, so click through for The Fwoosh’s video as well as links to our reviews.

TBS Princess Leia #30 Hitting Ross Hard

About a week ago we posted that Captain Rex was showing up at Ross stores in the US. Well, I went to six Ross stores yesterday and was sorely disappointed. Not only did I not find a single Captain Rex, I found something much worse (at more than one store). If you need reminded why this particular Leia figure is essentially terrible, just check out our RDR here. Has anyone had luck finding Captain Rex or the Target 3-pack at Ross? Let us know in the comments!

Early this morning, starwars.com reviewed some of the photos from Vanity Fair’s new article. Included are several wonderful behind the scenes photos from the production of the new film. I am loving Keri Russell and Richard E. Grant’s costumes. The lack of R2 and familiar aliens is rather conspicuous, though. Click through for more photos and let us know what your thoughts are in the comments!

WOW! Black Series Captain Rex Showing Up at Ross!

More and more Star Wars collectibles are showing up at discount retailers, and it looks like the next one to hit Ross is Captain Rex. Surprising to me since it’s such a good figure, but this probably has more to do with distribution than collectors not buying it at retail. It looks like the search is on once again to find this figure on the cheap. Thanks to Mike Y. and Rand R. from Arizona for the images. Have you found this figure at Ross too? Let us know in the comments!

Walmart The Vintage Collection TIE Fighter for $1!!

Wow, what a find…. Thanks to Chris from Arizona for sending this report. Some people have all the luck! As of now, most stores near me are still showing $19. Who knows if they’ll go down before they sell out at that price?

We don’t often share LEGO news here, but I get weekly email notifications from the LEGO Ideas website, and this week they announced the finalists for their recent Star Wars battles challenge. I personally like the Assault on Tosche Station and Battle of Endor Chess set. Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Wow! I had no idea these vintage speeder bikes existed until today! The current bid for this auction is over $800. Did you have one of these when you were a kid? Would you buy something like this for your youngins if Hasbro reproduced something like it? I sure would. Heck, I might buy a second one for me! Tell us your thoughts/reminiscences in the comments!

TVC Stormtrooper on Amazon

For only $29+shipping through a third party seller… However I’m sure it will go on pre-order soon, so I recommend saving the page! Of note, Entertainment Earth is fluctuating between a May and June arrival, and some other sites show July, Amazon is not showing these to arrive till August. Somehow I find that more likely, but we shall see.

Why Are We Not More Distressed About This Major Issue?

Long legs may be attractive to men and women alike, but don’t let Hasbro distract you when it comes to updating action figures! Extra length in the leg area comes at a price apparently, and in this case, they disguised the cost of the extra plastic by completely omitting Lando’s blaster (or maybe they just forgot it). Perhaps he doesn’t have one in his movie costume, you say? Think again.

So far, most Galaxy of Adventures shorts have been pulling from big screen canon. Their latest video, while not directly citing it as a source, seems to come straight from the Vader Down comic (mixed in with a reference to Rebels). Seeing it in animated action is pretty impressive!  Full Story

Blasphemy or Beauty? Customized Sail Barge

If you’re going to customize a $500 toy, you’d better do it right. Empire Toy Works posted photos of his sail barge, the Highfalutin. This custom hits it out of the park, in my opinion. Empire Toy Works is an inspiration to my own customizing, though, so I may be a bit biased. Rotgut Station is the dream world of collectors like me who love a really good diorama. Be sure to click the Instagram link to see more photos of this wonderful ship, and let us know in the comments if you think this is stunning, or sacrilege.
