Disney wouldn’t allow Steven Spielberg to use any Star Wars references in his latest film, Ready Player One. io9 has the full story. I guess we’ll never see another film like E.T. where Elliot plays with Greedo and Snaggletooth anymore. 🙁
UPDATE: io9 has posted a correction on this story. The cause of confusion is that Steven Spielberg contradicted himself.
Disney Parks has released an unlisted video on YouTube featuring video footage of a drone flying over the construction site of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Anaheim, California.
The 14 acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in 2019. And construction seems to well on its way to completion next year.
But look for yourself:
Are you already planning a trip?
Remember those cool Solo: A Star Wars Story posters? Well, it looks like the artist that made them was “inspired” by a series of SONY music compilation CDs. You be the judge. Special thanks to JTA reader and friend Danny R. for the alert!
The state of Star Wars since the sale to Disney has generated a lot of discussion, which only intensified after The Last Jedi was released. Three Star Wars films have been released since the sale to Disney and Solo: A Star Wars Story is just around the corner. In addition, we have Star Wars Rebels, Battlefront II, and the various novels and comics that have been released under this new leadership. Now that we a significant amount of material to work with, let’s open up the discussion of “Disney’s” Star Wars a little more. I have put together a list of questions that are intended to assess the state of Star Wars under Disney’s leadership, as well as your hopes for the future. We take pride in the wonderful community that has been established here and would love it if you participated in this discussion. As always, please keep the discussion civil and be respectful of differing opinions. Click through to see the full list of questions.

Nonstop Star Wars is never a good thing. We have been saying this since 2015. It seems to have ramifications now. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a hit, but the Force may not be as strong for Disney when it comes to merchandise sales this year. Panjiva, a data company that tracks the giant shipping containers that arrive at U.S. ports, says 6,587 of them with Star Wars gear were shipped in the seven months leading up to The Last Jedi, but that’s down 47 percent from the seven months leading to Rogue One in 2016 and off 56 percent from the same time period ahead of The Force Awakens in 2015. The Hollywood Reporter has the full story. (more….)
It’s official! Disney is set to buy 21st Century Fox in a deal worth more than $52 billion! CNBC.com has the full story!

Do you want to see one of the most amazing exclusive items on the planet right now? JTA reader and good friend Mario M. sent me an image of something I must have. Why does it look more interesting than Hasbro’s Rogue One Rapid Fire Imperial AT-ACT? And it’s only $25. And you get popcorn! Mario also let me know that the legs and neck have articulation and the side guns move as well. It also comes with a lanyard so it can be carried over the shoulder.

Just as promised, Shop Disney has put the three new Star Wars Toy Box figures up for order for $12.95 each. These things looks “fantabulous.” They also show the back of the packaging where new figure silhouettes are revealed. Two have to be Han Solo and Sabine Wren, right? What do you think?
