I did a Target run today during lunch, and as I came around the corner to the Star Wars aisle my peripheral vision caught a sign of new products. I immediately started skipping in elation in expectation of what I would find. As I got close, my stomach free-fell instantly. My local Target just received a new case of The Rise Of Skywalker 12-Inch Figures. I could barely pick myself up to exit the store. What a major kick in the you-know-what. But Star Wars is the best it’s ever been some will say! It’s the “Golden Era” of collecting what others will say too!
Found! JTA reader Charlie found the Retro Collection The Mandalorian figures at his local GameStop store! Let the hunting commence! Charlie is from Florida.
And if you’re one of the chosen few, you may find a kicker full of the latest The Black Series 6″ figures including Bo Katan and Asajj Ventress. Special thanks to JTA reader Jeremy S. for the image and report!
Big Box retail and The Black Series 6″ collecting community are apparently waking up to the egregiously and laughably priced 6″ “deluxe” figures line that are $30 each. Jar Jar Binks, Boba Fett, and Din Djarin should all be $19.99, not a penny more. Likewise, Teebo (Ewok), Yoda, and Jawa shouldn’t be a penny less than $19.99. Is everyone done being fooled? Hasbro needs to figure out how to amortize costs for large and small characters by budgeting the line better My local Target marked down the unforgivably priced Jar Jar Binks “deluxe” figure down to $20.99 just a couple of weeks after it hit their stores.
Unicorns do exist! I found the latest wave of The Vintage Collection at my local Target. To my amazement, Boba Fett was still hanging on the pegs and I didn’t get to the store until 11:30 AM on Saturday. Perhaps most have already given up on brick-and-mortar for Star Wars collecting and don’t bother anymore. There is little competition it seems.
Brick and mortar is generally in diastrous shape. But Walmart is looking pretty scary these days. There are no signs of life in either The Vintage Collection or The Black Series 6″ lines in any of my local stores (and most other areas too).
Please click the thumbnail below to see an astounding collage of the nothingness that most of us believe represents how brick and mortar looks across the USA. And because this is an anecdotal example, we’d love to have our readers comment (with evidence if possible) to show how your stores look in our comments. For me, this is how every Target and Walmart looks in my area which includes a minimum of five of each store. What’s the point of these stores carrying Star Wars action figures? Yet they seem to possess the power to dictate what Hasbro produces for The Vintage Collection. Yes, Hasbro isn’t responsible for what retail orders, but perhaps Hasbro should impose an order minimum to stock stores. Empty pegs make no sense for retail and support the narrative that no one buys Star Wars. Why would they order more? Special thanks to Jon Morgan for the collage of hell. If you’re on Twitter or any other horrific social media platform, perhaps you can tag Hasbro, Walmart, and Target and ask them what the heck is up. (more….)
Here is some cool news! If you’re looking for discounted The Vintage Collection figures, head to your local Ollie’s store. I just got back and found a dozen of each of The Empire Strikes Back See-Threepio (C-3PO), Luke Skywalker (Bespin), and Return Of The Jedi General Lando Calrissian, and the Disney Star Wars Cassian Andor (a ton of that figure – a ton). They are priced at $5.99 each and are joined by The Black Series [Phase III] Luke Skywalker (Yavin) and plush Baby Yoda merchandise. Good luck! Special thanks to JTA reader and friend Bing “Upstate” Hamton for the alert and news!
It’s almost as if Hasbro doesn’t realize that there is a hit series on Disney+ called The Mandalorian. It’s also almost as if Hasbro doesn’t want their products front and center at Big Box retail. And if we’re honest, it’s almost as if there isn’t a Star Wars toy line at all anymore when it comes to visiting the toy aisle physical retail shops. So why does Hasbro need brick-and-mortar again? (more….)
The Walmart exclusive The Vintage Collection Din Djarin & The Child has hit Walmart stores ON CLEARANCE. JTA reader Nathan B. found them for $10 each in the clearance aisle. He writes “I’m in Columbia Missouri. Longtime reader/lurker. They have 50 Din and Child The Vintage Collection for $10. Was so unbelievable to see a shelf like this I thought I would share.” Once again, can The Vintage Collection get a fair shake on anything?
You can go to any Walmart or Target store in your area and find almost every single Hasbro Star Wars product except for The Vintage Collection and The Black Series 6″ lines, save for a few 6″ remnants like Jyn Erso and Janna. And it’s been this way for much too long. What is going on here? How can Hasbro get all of the future and current peg-warming products out to retail with little effort? (more…)
The worst wave of The Vintage Collection repacks of all time is now hitting your local Walmart store. JTA reader and friend Russ T. found the wave at his local Walmart in NJ. Let us know of your store finds too in the comments!
JTA reader Mark G. found the TARGET exclusive The Black Series [Phase IV] Remnant Stormtrooper figure on clearance for $13.99! I haven’t even seen this once yet!
Yay! Aside from a few lucky exceptions, Walmart hasn’t had much when it comes to Star Wars. I just received a string of emails last night cancelling almost all of my pre-orders, from The Black Series 6″ figure, to The Vintage Collection figures. And ALL of my local Walmarts don’t have a blessed thing in years, including their Fall and Winter exclusives. I am tired of asking what’s going on with distribution anymore. But despite it all, the stuff that no one wants enters the stores with relative ease. Oh, and Walmart sure has plenty of stuff like this! Special thanks to friend Russ T. for the image.
I have been searching high and low for the latest wave of The Vintage Collection figures in my area. As expected, there is a blessed sign of them anywhere. At my local Walmart, I couldn’t help but notice multiple cases of the first wave of The Black Series [The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary] wave when I arrived to the toy aisle. (more….)
No matter what scale you collect, all collectors agree that Walmart is often problematic for collecting, especially when it comes to exclusives. This latest is example is a bit of a doozy. Take a look at what this collector got instead of his carbonized exclusive. Thanks to Cody S. and others who informed us of this story.
The latest TVC wave is hitting Walmarts everywhere. This score was found at my local Lexington, KY Walmart by fellow KSWCC member Jerry. Let us know in the comments where you are finding them!

JTA reader alientek found the Walmart exclusive TBS Ahsoka Tano, 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper, and Mandalorian Super Commando, as well as the TVC Carbonized figures at his local Texas Walmart. Click below for the proof! Are these showing up in your area? Let us know in the comments!
JTA Facebook reader Tanner M. sends us proof that he found the latest wave of The Black Series 6″ figures at his local Walmart. This wave includes Cad Bane and The Armorer.
It’s feast or famine, y’all! Instagram user blueharvestcollector found the latest wave of The Vintage Collection figures at his local TARGET in Boston Massachusetts. This wave includes the new Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) and Chirrut Imwe.
If you live in Canada, Walmart is getting the exclusive 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper (501st)! This report comes from kylocollector on Instagram.
Something from 2015 is rearing its ugly head five years later. During the Rebels line, Hasbro released commemorative four-packs based on the Star Wars films. Today I found The Empire Strikes Back sent at my local TARGET, and a few days ago, JTA reader Jon M. found the same. Nothing is arriving to stores, so maybe TARGET is clearing out its warehouse to have some Hasbro Star Wars stock?
The Black Series [Phase IV] Clone Trooper Lieutenant may have gone up for order today, but collectors across the country are finding it on the shelves too! JTA reader Justin C. found this a ta Seattle Walgreens!
This is why Hasbro was super-smart to make this item an online exclusive. JTA reader Jon M. found The Vintage Collection Millennium Falcon (Smuggler’s Run) on clearance for $279.99. We have no idea why TARGET would place a brand new item on clearance. All of the other Galaxy’s Edge stuff is full price. There is obviously a breakdown in communication somewhere. Either way, don’t expect to see too many of these instances at your local brick and mortar location! Click through for more!
