Obi-Wan Kenobi pilots a Naboo royal fighter, which is used by the Royal House of Naboo for passenger transport. The Jedi borrows the chromium-sheathed vessel during a mission to Naboo. Obi-Wan is grateful for the fighter's laser cannons, which have been added to the vehicle because of the turbulent times threatening the peaceful world.

We can tell you one thing’s for certain after only 30 days from the release of The Phantom Menace 3D toy line. Hasbro better not release the 2009 Legacy Collection Obi-Wan Kenobi (BD06) figure in any configuration ever again. In one fell swoop they have literally made collectors nauseous with its inundation in the 2012 toy line. A figure that we were excited about in 2009 has become borderline cancerous in 2012 and it’s really stealing our joy. Obi-Wan Kenobi has been egregiously added to The Vintage Collection, the Movie Heroes line, the Discover The Force line and the Class 1 sub-line. This is the same exact figure four times over and it’s something we personally find intolerable. We know figures will get released and rereleased throughout the years, but is it necessary to plague the pegs with the same figure and endanger future shipments of all new product to safely make it to the pegs. Do we not learn from history, Hasbro?

If you’re a relatively longtime reader of our Research Droids Reviews, you probably know that we are truly Hasbro’s biggest cheerleaders. But you also know that we don’t hold back when Hasbro is in the wrong. And Hasbro is DEAD WRONG for releasing this Obi-Wan Kenobi figure this many times. (And it should NEVER has served as the release for The Vintage Collection. That releases deserved the treatment of an all-new portrait. Sometimes Hasbro has to stop being so cheap and spend a few extra pennies here and there. An all-new head sculpt would have made the other three repacks much more palatable, but of course not completely acceptable to collectors. So we’ve probably whined enough to last you a lifetime, huh? We apologize to you, but we have found this Deluxe release offensive. It’s obviously offensive because of another release of that dreadful Obi-Wan Kenobi figure. But it’s also dreadful because of the inclusion of the pitiful and screen-inaccurate vehicle that accompanies him.

The Naboo Royal Fighter began life with a different name in The Clone Wars toy line called the Naboo Star Skiff and was part of the Naboo Star Skiff With Anakin Skywalker Deluxe/Class I set. Even in that line this vehicle was a Hasbro concept. The vehicle seen in the television series was obviously much larger scaled, but Hasbro was inspired to create a Class I sized scale of it and it seemed to work. The problem is that the vehicle is rather boring. And it really didn’t grip kids the way many others in the Deluxe line had. As conspiracy theorists, we believe that Hasbro may have been gauging if there would be interest in a rerelease of the 1999 Episode I Naboo Royal Starship (one of the best large-scaled vehicles Hasbro has ever released). We’re probably way off base with that accusation, but we really wonder why some products get made with little to know play value and screen inaccuracy. The Naboo Royal Fighter With Obi-Wan Kenobi is a complete waste of money. This isn’t worth your time or money in the least.
