Although ARC clone trooper CC-8826 was initially bred to have no individual thought or feeling, essentially a machine created to fight for the Galactic Republic, he was given the opportunity to develop a unique personality. Enrolled in Alpha-17's clone trooper commander program, alongside several of his clone brothers, he was actually encouraged to adopt more freedom of thought and expression.

Among the first graduates of the program, CC-8826 stepped into the role of clone marshal commander with the assignment to oversee the 91st Reconnaissance Corps. He takes the nickname Neyo, and develops a reputation as an especially cold, almost morbid commander. Terse and concise, Neyo isnt much for conversation but he displays an exemplary level of loyalty to his command. Working alongside commanders Faie and Bly, he leads a successful campaign to defeat the Seperatists on Saleucami. After their victory he remains on Saleucami under the leadership of Jedi General Stass Allie. In a testament to his loyalty, Neyo later follows Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's order to execute General Allie, without a second thought or moment of hesitation.

The high-end collectibles in the awesome 1:6 Scale Figures line don’t arrive everyday. In fact, we’re lucky to receive a dozen of them in any calendar year. While they are few and far between, it can definitely be said that Sideshow Collectibles has gone crazy with the armored characters in the Militaries Of Star Wars line. We all understand the concept of amortizing costs, but we think that’s been taken to the limit because we now have more clones than we probably ever expected to own in a single collection. Commander Neyo (91st Reconnaissance Corps) is a figure in this line that should have made us jump for joy. We don’t want to discount the figure this early in a review. We admit that he looks fantastic and the all-new phase II helmet needed for his character looks spectacular. And he comes with an even better paint job that completes him perfectly. But the excitement of receiving another armored figure has dissipated to the point where even his arrival struck us as “whatever”. We never want to feel that complacent about the wonderful products released in Sideshow Collectibles’ 1:6 Scale Figures line, but Sideshow may have to take some accountability for the lack of “wow factor” another armored clone trooper brings to the line.

On the very, very bright side however, it is simply fantastic to have all of the clone commanders completed from Revenge Of The Sith now. Besides a few concept art characters (as well as some cool Expanded Universe characters) the clone leaders are now complete and it’s a truly wonderful feeling. Commander Cody (212th Attack Battalion), Commander Bly (327th Star Corps), Commander Gree (41st Elite Corps) and Commander Bacara (21st Nova Corps) all join the latest Commander Neyo (91st Reconnaissance Corps). This is a truly special landmark because the last time we have all five commanders together in a high-end collectibles line was Gentle Giant Ltd.’s clone commanders “World Tour” Mini Busts. Commander Neyo is obviously the most unique of the five clone commanders from Revenge Of The Sith and Sideshow Collectibles has taken great care to capture all of the nuances that set him apart from his clone brethren. And it’s especially true that all five clone commanders looks absolutely spectacular together. Commander Neyo adds a little bit more simplicity to the table than the other four. After all he’s mostly a white armored BARC Trooper with a refined Coruscant Guard emblem placed strategically on his armor. He really does look incredible.

It’s hard to get excited about a 1:6 Scale Figure when it’s barely different from the previous one. That may sound a bit insensitive to the designers who make the Militaries Of Star Wars figures, but we don’t intend for it to come across this way. It’s just that these types of figures are a bit tired at this point. We have witnessed what they can do the with armored clone figures and it’s time to move along and see what else that can do at this point. Commander Neyo (91st Reconnaissance Corps) comes with the same accessories that all the other clones and clone commanders do. This may be another reason why we can’t get completely excited for another clone release. Way too many hand and feet attachments only complicate things. We have yet to utilize all of the attachments in any photo shoot. There really needs to be no more that 2 or 3 extra attachments each per arm. After that it becomes way too complicated. If you’re still with us, you probably think we’re pretty down on Commander Neyo. Let us clarify that we’re not. We’re glad to have him and he looks excellent. We just wish Sideshow Collectibles didn’t inundate us with so many clones one after another. On an interesting note, Commander Neyo is the only clone commander to not come with an interchangeable human portrait. But because he didn’t remove his helmet in Episode III and he hasn’t been seen in The Clone Wars yet, he will just remain with that singular option. We’re fine with that all the same.
