Grand Moff Tarkin was the Imperial governor of the Outland Regions, and a key figure in the development of the Death Star project. A brilliant and ruthless tactician, Tarkin was a loyal adherent to Emperor Palpatine's vision of the New Order. He saw the Death Star as the ultimate weapon to ensure absolute rule over the galaxy. The power of the battle station's prime weapon was enough to deter any rebellion, he reasoned. To demonstrate the Death Star's power, he destroyed the planet of Alderaan.

Some questioned whether Tarkin's methods were merely bids to aggrandize his own status, in defiance of the Emperor's ultimate goal. The truth will never be known, for Tarkin perished aboard his creation. The Rebel Alliance dared to wage war with the Empire, and targeted a weak spot in the battle station. A proton torpedo volley fired by young Luke Skywalker sealed the station's fate. Tarkin was killed in the resulting explosion.

Man, oh man. You already know that Sideshow Collectibles is notorious for bringing Star Wars collectors consistently quality products. So it seems to take more and more to impress us nowadays. Would you believe that they have successfully done so again? The Grand Moff Tarkin Premium Format Figure is quite a wonder to behold. What’s most interesting though is that the prototype shown on Sideshow Collectibles’ website to advertise the product to entice collectors may have worked adversely. This is so because the images on their website don’t do the final product justice in the least. We don’t know what exactly is so off on the prototype, but we can assure you that the product you’ll pull out of the box is perhaps the most accurate collectible representation of the character you’ll probably ever have the opportunity to purchase. We’re beyond impressed with the Grand Moff Tarkin Premium Format Figure and we’re going to do our best to make readers of this review true believers of the piece and hopefully entice you to pick one up for your collection. Sideshow Collectibles must have additional access to reference materials that other licensees don’t have because we tried looking for issues or inaccuracies with this piece and we’ve been unsuccessful. This is truly the all-encompassing Grand Moff Tarkin collectible.

Grand Moff Tarkin is adorned in a spot-on perfect recreation of his onscreen costume from Star Was Episode IV: A New Hope that’s been reduced down to 1:4 scale. It’s fitted, colored perfectly ad adequately detailed with a correct ranking badge, belt and other details. His uniform couldn’t be improved upon in the least. The pants bow out in the thigh areas and the skirt stops at the correct spot and the waist is cinched at the perfect level to allow the belt to also hang where it appropriately should. Grand Moff Tarkin has been designed in a very desirable posture. His legs are positioned in a very slight relaxed pose while the rest of his body is in a stance that is showing concern and deep thought. His body language is speaking these traits loudly and clearly and we couldn’t be more impressed with it. Grand Moff Tarkin will capture your attention. it’s truly one of the greatest Premium Format Figures that Sideshow Collectibles has ever produced. Sometimes some potentially good collectibles in this line get diminished with crazy poses or lack of detail in important areas. Not here. Sideshow Collectibles clearly spared no expense to make this the consummate Grand Moff Tarkin collectible. From the pitch perfect hairline to the stretched skin on his left hand from his right elbow leaning against it, it’s all here for you to enjoy. And boy will you enjoy this for sure!

When we found out this piece would retail for $349.99, we thought it was very expensive regardless of including the IT-O Interrogator Droid. Well, we take it back now. We didn’t realize that Sideshow Collectibles was going “all out” on this accompaniment to Grand Moff Tarkin. The IT-O Interrogator Droid is cast in real metal and is extremely weighty. In fact, this droid weights more than Grand Moff Tarkin. Although loaded with ten armaments, Sideshow Collectibles included five separate attachments that can be attached to and removed from the droid at your will. Most importantly, the drug injector has been included and has the English words “Interchangeable EVERETT” which is the name of a real "now vintage” syringe used in the United Kingdom around the time Star Wars was filmed! How is that for keeping these “screen accurate”. Even the milliliter measurements have been added to this awesome accessory. Check out our photo gallery for a close up to this accessory! Needless to say, the IT-O Interrogator Droid adds substance and value to the MSRP of this Premium Format Figure. It also comes with its own environmental stand and looks fantastic perched upon it. Both Grand Moff Tarkin and the IT-O Interrogator Droid display beautifully together and are in scale to each other as well. Overall, we’re thrilled with this incredible release from Sideshow Collectibles. With the apathy and disappointment towards Hasbro’s 2012 TVC Grand Moff Tarkin (VC98) figure, maybe you can get excited again for him with this release because it’s brilliant.
