Kit Fisto was part of the Jedi taskforce assembled to rescue captives from the Separatist stronghold on Geonosis. The Master Nautolan fought well against the Geonosian battle droid forces, being one of the few Jedi to survive the extended melee within the carved walls of the execution arena.
There is a primary rule that Mini Bust collectors forget to follow and that would be to never judge a Mini Bust until you have the production piece in hand. If we followed this rule we might add a few years of happy blissfulness to our lives. If there was one Mini Bust that sent collectors’ tops blowing through the roofs it would have to be Kit Fisto. If you have judged this piece just by the promotional images Gentle Giant Ltd. sent out to the media, there would probably be no reason on earth to pick up the piece. The lighting deceitfully allowed us to believe that this Kit Fisto piece had yellow skin. And the lighting was so bright that is washed out all the finely etched details like the creases and crevices in his facial structure and hands leaving an impression that the artist who sculpted this piece may have never seen a reference image ever of the Nautolan. We even held off ordering the piece because we thought it looked so bad that we would be able to find it for pennies on the dollar on eBay or something. We obviously didn’t and we could kick ourselves for waiting because the Kit Fisto Mini Bust is excellently rendered and gorgeously painted. Gentle Giant Ltd. should be ashamed for releasing these poor images of the Kit Fisto Mini Bust that clearly hurt its sales.
We hope our photo gallery can provide the justice this piece deserves. Kit Fisto is a tremendous work of art. As huge Kit Fisto fans, we have critically inspected this Mini Bust from head to toe and the more we ogle it, the most impressed we become. Kit Fisto as a character has been the source of much confusion because he appeared differently in Episode II and Episode III. A new design for the mask of the character was done for the release of Revenge Of The Sith and quite honestly was a vast improvement from his Episode II likeness. But licensees seemed to be having trouble matching up the likenesses to the appropriate film. Hasbro had the same exact problem with their phenomenal 2011 TVC Kit Fisto (VC29) action figure. A brilliant sculpt was designed based on his appearance from Revenge Of The Sith, but he was placed on an Attack Of The Clones card back with an image of his likeness from that film instead. Guess what? Gentle Giant Ltd. made the same exact mistake. The Kit Fisto Mini Bust is based on his Episode III appearance, yet the source imprinted on the box and the bio on it both describe Attack Of The Clones and his role in that film. Is it blind leading the blind?
Perhaps Gentle Giant Ltd. is not all to blame. Early prototypes of the Kit Fisto Mini Bust showed his wielding a blue lightsaber (incorrect no matter what film) and the angle of the lightsaber was straight up. Perhaps this caused some early confusion since he clearly had a green lightsaber in Revenge Of The Sith? Who knows? The two looks of Kit Fisto are like day and night so we find it hard to believe (unacceptable really) that licenses continue to make such a huge error like this. At least the error only exists on the packaging. If this Kit Fisto Mini Bust had Attack Of The Clones imprinted on the bottom of the base, we would be livid. Kit Fisto has been sculpted in a truly dynamic pose. What’s especially neat about it is that it could be from some earlier off-screen moment from Episode III, or it could be a faithful interpretation of his final duel with Darth Sidious. Either way you’re left with a Jedi Master that is believably based from the film. Kit Fisto is masterfully detailed and gorgeously painted. And he has the correct shade of green paint to match his skin color. Don’t worry – the Kit Fisto Mini Bust does NOT have yellow skin. He also comes with a removable green lightsaber blade that attaches firmly to the Mini Bust. A truly spectacular Mini Bust, we will be cautious not to judge a Mini Bust prematurely again.
