The consort of local crime boss Hat Lo, the beautiful Twi'lek Ayy Vida has been tainted by the criminal underworld. She continues to look for an opportunity to escape Lo's repressive clutches. After catching the eye of a dapper Republic Guard one night at the Outlander nightclub, she hopes the guard will rescue her. Her hope is in vain for he is an imposter, one of many poseurs who frequent the clubs for their own nefarious purposes.

If you think BoShek was a completely random choice for an action figure, then Ayy Vida (Outlander Nightclub Patron) is the most perplexing and perhaps most nonsensical action figure to ever be made. Now don’t get us wrong. We love the sexy nature of most Twi’leks, but this action figure came out of left field. Ayy Vida was an exotic dancer (big surprise) and assassin (definitely a surprise) and she caught the eye of Achk Med-Beq in the Coruscant Outlander Nightclub. Again, she fits in well with the hoard of characters Hasbro has made from this scene in Attack Of The Clones, but she is absolutely a very deep background character in Episode II and we’re still surprise to see that she has been realized in plastic for the Star Wars “Saga” line. She interestingly is a hybrid of very old and very new parts, all of which seem to work together to form a decent modern action figure, but you may need a little cajoling before you’re completely sold on her. We know we need it.

Ayy Vida (Outlander Nightclub Patron) utilizes the head and legs of Shakka from 1999’s EI Watto’s Box Cinema Scene multipack. This already makes her screen inaccurate because Shakka is wearing a studded collar whereas Ayy Vida (Outlander Nightclub Patron) isn’t wearing collar, although she is wearing a close-fitting turtleneck styled patterned body glove. She is a very attractive Twi’lek in Episode II, but the head sculpt of Shakka isn’t necessarily pretty, so her likeness is borderline acceptable, for us at least. You may feel differently. Interestingly, the rest of Ayy Vida (Outlander Nightclub Patron) is all-new. This includes her body and arms. What’s most interesting about this however is that they contain no articulation, aside from swivel shoulders for her arms. There is no waist joint or elbow joints or anything else included. Her arms are very POTF2-inspired per our assessment, and unless we have just forgotten about the figure these may have some from, they appear all-new to us.

Ayy Vida (Outlander Nightclub Patron) has some neat accessories. She comes with a purple beverage and she can hold it in her hand quite well. Sadly, she can only hold her arm in an outstretched position, so that pose looks a little bit silly at a club or bar. We really don’t understand why Hasbro did give her a few more points of articulation in her arms because they are very needed. She also comes with an all-new barstool accessory. Thanks to the hinge-jointed knees in her legs, she can sit on top of it very easily. She can hold an even and balanced pose, even while holding her glass. As an action figure, Ayy Vida (Outlander Nightclub Patron) isn’t the most exciting. But she does have a decent paint job despite her inconsistencies and lack of articulation. She is excellent background diorama fodder, but again we have to make it a point to express how surprised we are to see her released as an action figure. But she is here and you’ll have to decide if she is for your collection.
