Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant)

General Analysis

Ten years after the fight to save Naboo from invasion, the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. Under the leadership of a renegade Jedi, thousands of solar systems threaten to secede from the Galactic Republic. A courageous Jedi Knight, his impulsive and headstrong apprentice, and a queen-turned-senator are drawn into the heart of the conflict... and the beginning of war.

Dexter Jettster

A cook in a Coruscant diner, Dexter Jettster picks up plenty of information as he's serving his patrons. An old friend of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he's always willing to share his information for a price.

Fans of Star Wars often criticized the Prequel Trilogy films for "shrinking" the Star Wars universe. Between the reused worlds and aliens, there were many more we didn't see. George Lucas brought a wealth of newness to the Prequel Trilogy too, and Attack Of The Clones might be the case in point of this. Many new characters show their breadth and deepness in Episode II. Maybe it's absurd that Darth Vader was C-3PO's father, but can you blame George Lucas and company for showing that Obi-Wan Kenobi had ties to the most revered Jedi as well as diner owners? That's where Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) comes into play. Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) was a Besalisk cook from Coruscant and owner of Dex's Diner, a highly frequented food shop by Coruscant's middle-class dwellers. Because he came across many different people in his trade, he quickly attained a wealth of information and took on a second unintended role of "informant" right there in his diner. Obi-Wan Kenobi sought him to shed light on a weapon that killed Zam Wesell, the bounty hunter who attempted Senator Amidala's assassination. Thankfully, Obi-Wan Kenobi received help from his husky friend about the origins of the Kamino saber dart and continued on the trek to find out more about the strange events and conflicts transpiring around the film's main heroes.

Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) is a well-sculpted and, frankly, well-made action figure. However, it is quite limited in articulation, but the one saving grace for a sculpt this large is that the articulation "cut points" are diminished and have no negative impact on the action figure's aesthetics. Dexter Jettster appears seamless, and the articulation cuts look whole and untouched. The figure has plenty of details that accent the unique alien's appearance. A collector-focused action figure, Hasbro had the "older" folks in mind when they designed Dexter Jettster. Collectors of all ages buy action figures. Kids will be interested in this bulky, brawny action figure, but so will the adults. Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) is weighty and thick. It comes with a perfect center of gravity thanks to two rounded feet, and it has a final paint job that impresses anyone who sees it. Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) doesn't move freely, necessarily, but has enough positives here to be a thoroughly worthwhile purchase for your collection. Hasbro won't revisit this character. We'll go to the bank on that. So, this will be your only chance to buy him. Dexter Jettster doesn't do much in Attack Of The Clones aside from cooking food and wallowing around the diner he owns, so the action figure doesn't need to do much either.

Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) comes with four total accessories, but three of them complement the character's role of a diner owner. You get two cooking tools: a vibro cleaver with an electro effect and a butcher knife. The electro effect is more of an annoyance than anything else. We didn't see this effect in the film, so we don't understand why they included it with the action figure. It doesn't offer play value, and it barely stays in place once on the vibro cleaver. We like Dexter Jettster's butcher knife, but sadly there isn't a carcass of meat or a butcher's table to go along with it. The knife fits nicely in the figure's lower left arm. The best accessory here, in our opinion, is the Kamino saber dart. Although it's incorrectly colored and too big, Hasbro designed it well, and it's an essential prop to take the path of Attack Of The Clones to a new world and critical storyline. Together, Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) and the accessories are wonderfully interactive, and we have very little to complain about here. For trivia lovers, Hasbro intended Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) to come with a pipe. A variant exists with this accessory listed, although it was never released that way. It was, however, sculpted. You can see it HERE. Rumors abound that George Lucas feels smoking is terrible and doesn't want characters from his films to exhibit this habit in toy form. We suppose that's a little too late for Jabba the Hutt.
