Sideshow presents the Clone Trooper Deluxe: 501st Legion, an elite legion of clone troopers serving under commanding officer Captain Rex, and one of the most well-recognized battalions in the Republic Army. Troopers from the prestigious 501st are distinguished by the trademark blue markings on their battle armor. The Clone Trooper Deluxe: 501st is crafted on a fully articulated body and features interchangeable Phase One and Two helmets, along with an arsenal of essential munitions.

As a full-scale intergalactic conflict rages on, a massive army of Clone Troopers fights in service of the Republic. Recruit your Army.

Hot dog! Sideshow Collectibles releases their own concept 1:6 Scale Figure! Much like what Hasbro did with their inordinately popular Order 66 line from the 30 (77-07) line, Sideshow takes a well known company of clones and extrapolates upon them to create their own unique styling. Of course, we’re only talking about one permutation of armor set-up here (the phase I 501st interpretation – not screen accurate, but awesome nonetheless). While it’s evident that this is just a second way for Sideshow Collectibles to releases the highly popular and successful 501st Legion Clone Trooper in the 1:6 Scale Figures line, they added a few extra things here to make this release unique, thus creating a style of clone trooper that we haven’t seen in the line to date and totally worth your dollars. While the 501st Legion has been in The Clone Wars television show since the beginning and they looked very similar to phase I Clone Trooper Lieutenants (with darker blue color flashes and an incomplete helmet stripe), they never looked like the 501st Legion in Revenge Of The Sith with an Attack Of The Clones helmet. But you have that option here which frankly looks pretty darn cool. So it is this “collaboration of parts” that we’re calling Sideshow Collectibles’ own concept. While that may technically fall under the Expanded Universe, it’s not part of any canon really, but that’s what makes the collecting aspect more fun.

As time moves on, so does technology as well as the approach to the way 1:6 Scale Figures get made. Sideshow Collectibles took quality notes on their previous errors, mistakes and issues and resolves them in one fell swoop with the figures that make up the Clone Trooper Deluxe group. Just like the Clone Trooper Deluxe (Shiny) and Clone Trooper Deluxe (Veteran) figures, Clone Trooper Deluxe (501st) is the best representation of this character from not only the phase II clones in Revenge Of The Sith, but also the phase II clones from The Clone Wars television show. You’ll probably want to army build these figures left and right because they are that good. While packaged wearing the phase I helmet, you’ll probably want to quickly replace it with the phase II helmet and see how far Sideshow Collectibles has come with regards to the 501st Legion Clone Trooper. It’s almost night and day. You may even feel like Sideshow Collectibles sold you a bridge back in 2010. That isn't a cut down on their previous efforts, but these new clones are a step above what we have received in the past. What an amazing difference four years have made to the 1:6 Scale Figures line, especially the Armored body type figures in the Militaries Of Star Wars line. You’re going to be thoroughly impressed as us. And we hope that Deluxe sets based on the Coruscant Guard (Imperial Shock Troopers) and the 41st Elite Corps are next!

Clone Trooper Deluxe (501st) comes with some really neat accessories. Sure, the standard weapons have been included, the rotary chin gun is especially cool and newly designed hand attachments have been made to hold the gun as screen accurate as possible. Accessories like the droid popper grenades and the backpack give this figure that strong The Clone Wars flavor, while the DC-15 blaster and DC-15 blaster rifle give it that more familiar feel from Revenge Of The Sith. As with all of the figures in the Clone Trooper Deluxe line, the articulation points have been tightened up so the figure can hold more poses. And the paint job is just breathtaking. When we compare the 2010 501st Legion Clone Trooper next to the 2014 Clone Trooper Deluxe (501st) figure, there is honestly almost no way you can compare the two. We’re so impressed with the strides Sideshow Collectibles has taken to make premium quality 1:6 Scale Figures, and we appreciate even more that they made the most recent releases unique so that if you do army build, you have varying degrees of battle-damage between them. There is no other way to utter how we feel about these figures other than that we’re thoroughly impressed. Had we only known, we may have not stocked up on the older versions. But that would have been a big gamble.
