Sideshow presents the Clone Trooper Deluxe 212th Attack Battalion, an experienced unit of clones serving under the leadership of Clone Commander Cody and Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi. Troopers from the 212th Attack Battalion are distinguished by the unique orange markings on their battle armor. The Clone Trooper Deluxe: 212th is crafted on a fully articulated body and features interchangeable Phase One and Two helmets, along with an arsenal of essential munitions.

As a full-scale intergalactic conflict rages on, a massive army of Clone Troopers fights in service of the Republic. Recruit your Army.

Sideshow is hitting collectors where they live with their impressive Clone Trooper Deluxe assortment. It’s well known that not too much new ground has been broken here, but Sideshow has instead updated some of the armory, tightened up the articulation systems, and created stunning new paint operation techniques to deliver four of the greatest clone trooper 1:6 Scale Figures they’ve produced to date. It only makes us wish that they would go back and revisit some of the earlier figures as well, most notably the Imperial Shock Trooper and the 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper (Coruscant) in this stunning new arrangement. Sure, Sideshow Collectibles has added some gimmicky features here, but they all work so seamlessly well with the figures that it’s hard to fault them for taking the approach that they did. Besides, the Clone Trooper Deluxe assortment brings us the best manufactured representations of the clones already offered in this scale that collectors should have reason to celebrate that they’ve updated these characters to definitive status. One release in this sub-line, the Clone Trooper Deluxe (212th Battalion) has been reserved as a Sideshow Exclusive. A far cry from the Republic Clone Trooper (212th Attack Battalion: Utapau) figure released in 2009, a half decade has brought about so many enhancements to the 2014 release that it’s almost too much to absorb. You’ll probably want to army build these figures left and right because they are that good.

Much like the Clone Trooper Deluxe (501st) figure release a few months before this figure, Sideshow has developed a more modern take of the 212th Attack Battalion. They’ve of course included the movie accurate phase II helmet along with this release, but they’ve also created their own Expanded Universe take on these army members by the inclusion of a phase I helmet done up in the same color flashes. Much like what Hasbro did with their inordinately popular Order 66 line from the 30 (77-07) line, Sideshow takes a well known company of clones and extrapolates upon them to create their own unique styling of clone trooper. Of course, we’re only talking about one new iteration of unique armor set-up here (the phase I 212th Attack Battalion interpretation – not screen accurate, but awesome nonetheless). But it’s a worthy inclusion and this version of the character looks pretty fantastic. If Sideshow Collectibles is able to maintain this “off-screen authenticity” with such precision and believability, we would encourage them to continue in this manner to bring us additional clones that weren’t seen in the Prequel Trilogy. Or, maybe they should just dig their paws into the fertile The Clone Wars ground and start beating out all of those amazing 501st Legion clones that Hasbro won’t make for us. As time moves on, so does technology. It seems that Sideshow Collectibles took quality notes on their previous approaches and issues and resolves them in one fell swoop with the figures that make up the Clone Trooper Deluxe group. This is a wonderful thing.

Clone Trooper Deluxe (212th) comes with the same neat accessories that the other Clone Trooper Deluxe figures received. Sure, the standard weapons have been included, but the rotary chin gun is especially cool and newly designed hand attachments have been made to hold the gun as screen accurate as possible. Accessories like the droid popper grenades and the backpack give this figure that strong The Clone Wars flavor, while the DC-15 blaster and DC-15 blaster rifle give it that more familiar feel from Revenge Of The Sith. As with all of the figures in the Clone Trooper Deluxe line, the articulation points have been tightened up so the figure can hold more poses. This figure won’t give us the correct phase I clone as seen in The Clone Wars film, but it’s a tremendous start and a worthy competitor for the 1:6 Scale Figures line. At least this one is a lot more interesting visually. After all, the paint job is just breathtaking. We’re so impressed with the strides Sideshow Collectibles has taken to make premium quality 1:6 Scale Figures, and we appreciate even more that they made the most recent releases unique so that if you do army build, you have varying degrees of battle-damage between them. There is no other way to utter how we feel about these figures other than that we’re thoroughly impressed. They provided a great 1:6 Scale Figures line from the start. And we have been proud to have accompanied them on their evolution, but we have to state that we’re happy where these figures stand now. Because these are definitive figures folks.
